Connor Whiteley
Hello, I'm Connor Whiteley, I am an 18-year-old who loves to write creatively, and I wrote my Brownsea trilogy when I was 14 years old after I went to Brownsea Island on a scout camp. At the camp, I started to think about how all the broken tiles and pottery got there and somehow a trilogy got created. Moreover, I love writing fantasy and sci-fi novels because you’re only limited by your imagination. In addition, I'm was an Explorer Scout and I love camping, sailing and other outdoor activities as well as cooking.Furthermore, I do quite a bit of charity work as well. For example: in early 2018 I was a part of a youth panel which was involved in creating a report with research to try and get government funding for organised youth groups and through this panel. I was invited to Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party and how some of us got in the royal photograph. Finally, I am going to university and I hope to get my doctorate in clinical psychology in a few years.

Self-Publishing For Writers - Connor Whiteley
INTRODUCTION
Learning how to be a writer takes a lot of time, practice and writing. There are a lot of tips and tricks to be a writer and that was one of the purposes of the Global Author.com.
This website was my author hub for a couple of years where each week I wrote fascinating, engaging and easy-to-understand blog posts (and podcast episodes for a long time) on different writing, marketing and publishing areas to help writers.
However, when my own writing and author business gone too busy, I decided to close down the website but I didn’t want authors and writers to lose this knowledge, so I’ve decided to repurpose those great blog posts into books like this one.
So in this publishing book, this contains tons of great blog posts to help you improve your knowledge about how to publish books, the different self-publishing services you can use, the different formats you can do your books in as well as so many more fascinating topics that will show you how amazing independent publishing actually is.
I’m always learning from the top writers working today and have been around for decades, and I reference them constantly throughout the book, so you know that I’m sharing tips and tricks that aren’t some guru rubbish, but are done by the pros.
All I want from these books is to help you become a better storyteller, book marketers and publisher. I want to help you and that’s why I’m repurposing my blog posts like this.
But who am I?
Personally, I am extremely careful about who I learnt writing tips off because there are so many gurus in the writing community. As well as people who have written only one book and they think they know everything.
No one knows everything, if you want to be a professional writer you always need to be learning.
Therefore, in case you’re careful like me, I’m Connor Whiteley, an author with over 200 short stories written, over 50 fiction books and counting and over 30 nonfiction books written. I’m also a podcaster, blog writer and university student.
I am a dedicated writer who is always learning and wanting to improve, and that energy, drive and determination comes through in this book. Especially towards the end.
Additionally, as some bonus content, at the very end of this book, I’m including some more blog posts about how to write better mysteries and science fiction books.
This is a brilliant must-read publishing book for anyone who wants to take their writing seriously. And these chapters appear in the order they did on my website.
Enjoy!
WHY YOU NEED TO PUBLISH YOUR BOOK?
The question of ‘Why You Need to Publish Your Need?’ is a brilliant question and one that I love. Since I truly love independent publishing and I strongly believe everyone needs to put their work out into the world so, people can enjoy it.

In today’s episode, I want to give a quick inspirational look at why you need to publish your book.
Fear of Publishing:
I know, I know publishing is scary.
You are putting your words, work, and yourself out into the world for others to buy and judge.
It’s scary.
But don’t let that hold you back.
The self-doubt and the fear never goes away, and I don’t want it to.
I truly believe the self-doubt means you’re written a book, short story, whatever that you love and you’ve poured your heart and soul into.
And that’s the making or beginning of a great book.
Don’t you think people deserve to read your great book?
I hope that helped a little, and I recommend The Successful Author Mindset by Joanna Penn as well.
You Never Know What’s Going to Happening:
I cannot agree with the above comment because I have been amazed over the past year at what some of my books have done once I’ve released them into the world.
Take off:
Firstly, I want to stress no author or writer is a magical fortune teller, so you have no idea how your book is going to do unless you put it out into the world.
My prime example of this is with my Forensic Psychology book.
I released this book in February 2020 and I’m extremely glad I did because it constantly sells, and it is my best-selling title.
(Not best-selling status, but it the highest seller for me)
Therefore, if I didn’t put it into the world, then I never would have been able to reap the benefits this one book has given me.
So put your book out into the world!
Ingramspark:
This is a wider point about putting your book on other platforms and not only the biggest bookstore in the world.
Yes, this is a Global Author point.
However, in December 2020 it was my second month of having my print books on Ingramspark and I was amazed. Since I sold over 40 copies
