About this ebook
Ethel C. Schenck
To hear Evangelist Ethel Schenck unveil the Truth through her preaching and teaching is to know the one who has flown over the flames and walked in a consecrated place; and has positioned herself as a humbled servant before the Lord. She knows and understands the fire and the purpose for the heat in the flames. This is the mainstay of her preaching, helping other understand the mountain top experiences as well as the trip through the Valley of Dry Bones. She explains how to have the “wind of God’s power in your tongue of praise” and how to have “faith in your anchor” Jesus Christ, our Lord. Her mother dying right after birthing her, she was an orphan one month and adopted the next, she became the daughter of two truly saved and sanctified people, the late Mrs. and Mrs. Chamberlain. Several years later it was not unusual to find young Ethel teaching Sunday School at the age of 16. She loved teaching and talking about Jesus. Singing in the choir and talking about Jesus was easy because she loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. It wasn’t until a particular church service that she realized the Lord had called her to preach His word. She remembers the calling as if it was yesterday. She was praising the Lord during a very high and anointed praise service, when all of a sudden, God spoke to her in a very loud and audible voice these words: “You tell them that I’m sending them the Last Method of Escape”. She was floored and couldn’t believe her ear. For a moment she thought she was snapping. This voice of the Lord came while a Hammond organ, Yamaha upright piano and a set of drums were being played. It was like God had placed a large microphone in her right ear. She accepted His call and it seemed she could not put the Word down. The Lord put such a hunger for the Word inside her until it seemed she would not be satisfied. She wept because she knew something was going on in her that was not natural, it was supernatural and divine. “I was scared, but I enjoyed every moment and encounter I spent with God,” recalls Evangelist Schenck. Until this day, this woman of God can sit with the Word of God for hours. As the Lord took her higher and deeper, she was blessed to be under the spiritual guidance of many great teachers. She was taught the principles of ministry. She understood how to conduct herself in the field and at home. The teaching she received was under the anointing of the Holy Ghost. As her ministry grew, she received training and the opportunity to preach the Word. As an evangelist she has been involved with Radio and Out Reach Ministry. She was led by God to open missions right in the heart of Newark, N.J. where she brought in the broken hearted and abandoned. In the cities of New York and New Jersey, while evangelizing she thought nothing of stopping to hand out food and preach the Word of God on the city street corners and in the Bowery section of New York. She has raised funds to open store front churches so the bruised and backslidden could be brought in to hear the Word of God. Through the preaching of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, many were saved and reclaimed back to God. She preached the power and the Love of Jesus Christ. Following God’s leadership and will she eventually surrendered her position as a Mortgage Banker and as owner of her own private mortgage Company and went into full time ministry. It hasn’t been easy; but she has learned how to lean and depend of God. He promised to supply all her needs according to His riches in glory. She is running hard after the One who had no bird’s nest and no fox hole. She has learned how to look at all her worldly possessions and count them all as dung. Her life is built in Christ, her glorious Redeemer. Revivals, Crusades, seminars, street meetings, house meetings and radio broadcasts are under her umbrella of experience. Her preaching experience has predominately been in New York, New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia., Louisiana, Ohio and California and Uganda East Central Africa. In the California area she has helped to develop Bible Studies for pro-life organizations. Classes were set up to teach women the danger of abortions. This ministry provided spiritual counseling and guidance. Lastly, because of her extraordinary teaching methods she was awarded a honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Saints of Value Ministries, Los Angeles, CA . The Belief and Purpose of Her Ministry. Ethel’s highest desire is to be a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God which is her reasonable service. Helping others prepare for eternity is her goal and ministry statement. It is her vision to help all souls receive the True Word and spiritual tools necessary to take them to a higher, deeper and grounded place in God. She teaches that Jesus Christ, the Divine Holy Spirit and reflection of God, works within us to move us to a place wherein he can work His will, holiness, and pleasure in our lives. God is the perfection of Holiness, infinite Wisdom and Divine Grace. His measureless power can remove and destroy any obstacle that comes our way. In Him we live, move and have our being. She further teaches that any weapon formed against you will not prosper; and that does include, hatred, evil reproach, lies and deception. Many teaching tools have been born through this ministry. Presently Ethel has the following works in process to be published: In His Presence, Hidden Manna, Mastering the Negatives, Fifty-Two Weeks at The Potter’s House and several CD ’s. She has also conducted several seminars. Along with her work in production, she also has a dynamic Women’s Ministry (Women at The Well Ministries) in California. You may contact her at: P. O. Box 2191, Merced, CA 95344.

About the Author
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I am extremely grateful for all the spiritual support I received while writing my first book. I want to personally thank my awesome and spiritual friends Michael and Debra Goldstone for their spiritual encouragement and prayers.
A special thank you goes to Pastor Darrell and Lashawn Anderson and my prayer team Levi, Lynn, Cynthia, Sue, Pamela, Mary, Lupe, and Dr. Earline Weaver-Long. Their fervent prayers kept me pushing forward to complete this book.
Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
(ISAIAH 9:6 KJV)
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
(REVELATION 2:17 KJV)
And they said, Our fathers did eat manna in the desert
; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
And Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
(JOHN 6:31–35 KJV)
CHAPTER 1
FINDING WHOLENESS
IN OUR BROKENNESS
39533.pngBrokenness is the pathway to wholeness. This word is not a new truth. It is, however, a timeless principle that runs like a thread through the word of God. Brokenness is the only measurable way for you and me to draw near to a holy God. Brokenness is God’s prescription for every condition that ails the human mind and heart. It is designed to break away all things that hinder us from being in the right connection with the Holy Spirit. This principle is especially the solution for the creature who claims he or she is born again. If you do not possess the spirit of brokenness, you will have a severe breakdown in your spiritual mind and suffer an intensified struggle in your spiritual walk. Your life, both naturally and spiritually, will feel this spiritual collapse and trauma.
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
(PSALM 34:18 KJV)
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
(PSALM 51:17 KJV)
God’s desire is not in sacrificed animals. His delight is in the soul that restores itself through the cross of Jesus Christ. His pleasure is in the person who comes obediently to Him.
And I have given to you a new heart, And a new spirit I give in your midst, And I have turned aside the heart of stone out of your flesh, And I have given to you a heart of flesh.
(EZEKIEL 36:26 YLT)
The phrase used at the opening of this chapter—not a new truth but a timeless principle—says that God battled with the children of Israel concerning this divine principle, but they didn’t get it! He finally ended up calling them stiff-necked
and shut them out.
Unfortunately, like Israel, we have gotten caught up in the formation of things, including habits, traditions, and rituals of the world. These processes have caused us to become stiff-necked and very unsure and disconnected from our Maker.
Through the love of Jesus Christ, mercy and peace once again have been extended to God’s creatures. Brokenness is God’s prescription for every condition. Loneliness, fear, anger, sinful bondage, fragmented relationships, communication barriers, generation gaps, unsolved conflicts, guilt, shame, self-absorption, additions, hypocrisy, and even shyness have their roots in pride. They can be destroyed; they can be disintegrated through genuine brokenness and humility.
Let us seek a deep and penetrating encounter with God. Let us let Him bind us back together through the scarlet thread of righteousness. The blood of Jesus Christ can perform the washing or regeneration over our souls.
Brokenness is holding your heart up to the Light and letting Christ illuminate you until you see what He sees and are drawn into perfect communion with Him.
But if you will seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty, if you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your prosperous state.
(JOB 8:5–6 NIV)
REFLECTIONS
CHAPTER 2
EXCITEMENT
INTRIGUES US
39535.pngEverybody wants to walk on water with Jesus, but not everybody can follow Him on dry land.
He spoke the word come
on the dry land just as he spoke to Peter on the raging sea. Excitement intrigues us. It always has and always will. We like it when the adrenaline pumps the blood so fast to our heads that we lose all thought of who we are and where we are. We like the feeling of not knowing who we are, even if it’s for a split second. We like taking chances on the land and on the sea. We as human beings think walking on the water, as Jesus invited Peter to do, is more impressive.
Excitement impresses people. People love to impress and be impressed. They love impressing you by standing behind the limelight and in the grandiose places; it looks and feels magnificent. They want you to believe that because of where they stand, they have arrived at their pinnacle. The same impressions are alive today in the Christian life. Many want you to think that because of where they are standing and what they have accomplished, they are the ones truly following Christ.
Don’t be fooled. You can follow Jesus everywhere and in everything you do. This means preaching, teaching, walking, and talking according to your Christian lifestyle. When you are in Christ, you live your life in Christ everywhere and anywhere.
Some people have natural talents and the boldness to use them. Their nerves are good, and they can go through stress, strain, and pain with flying colors, but they can’t live for Christ 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Matthew 15:8 (KJV) says, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
The word of God tells us to let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves (Philippians 2:3).
Intrigue is good. In the days when Christ walked on this earth, many were intrigued. When they actually heard the word of God, they followed Him. Let us also follow the Master as He leads us through the path of righteousness. Let us allow His word, through the scriptures, to impress us until it dispels all doubt and fear in our minds and souls. Let these same words redeem
