About this ebook

The message in this book is simple. If you believe you can, then you can. If you believe you can’t, then you can’t. This book shows you how beliefs can either unleash or cripple your brain power. It goes further to explain the power inherent in beliefs to either attract or repel the right circumstances and needed resources required to attain your objectives.

The driving force behind all great achievements is belief. It keeps you going when everything else is shouting at you to stop. The power of belief is so great, you can change anything by changing your beliefs. Believing the unseen is what we call imagination. Effective use of our imagination does not come naturally to us. This book will teach you how to get remarkable things done with the imagination.

Misuse of the mind is the reason many give up on their dreams during setbacks, delays, and trials. A lot of folks do not understand the truth, ‘whatever you imagine can become a reality’.

There are at least Six takeaways from this book. 1) Understanding the link between beliefs and success 2) How to apply the principles of self-motivation 3) Knowledge of the powerful tools for turning dreams into realities. 4) How to realize your goals in the face of hardships, obstacles, and disappointments. 5) Awareness of the spiritual laws governing success, abundance, and happiness. 6) The secret to good relationships.

One of the things that make this book’s format so friendly is that you can pick it up at any page and find inspiration. Each subheading is a section that stands on its own. A prior chapter’s understanding is not required to benefit from a later chapter.

    CHAPTER ONE

    BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS

    THE ART OF DREAMING

A dream is a promise of what you shall one day be. The future you picture, you will feature. Every great achievement started with a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, and the bird waits in the egg. Visions are the seeds of realities. You can count the number of seeds in an apple, but not the number of apples in a seed. Inside an apple seed is a potential for a forest; in our dreams is the potential for a great future.

The purpose of a seed is to reproduce a forest. The real genius is seeing the trees in the seed, which is like seeing the future in what you are presently doing. Dreaming is your imagination taking you from your immediate environment to the future you desire. All men can dream, and we all should. A dream is a mental portrait of your future. Dreaming is your mind intentionally taking an idea and turning it into a vivid image.

Most ideas do not become dreams because people are not using their imagination effectively. If you ask little children, what will you like to be?’ Some will say excitedly, Uncle I want to be a doctor, a lawyer, a nurse, while others without much enthusiasm will respond, "a teacher, a soldier, an accountant.'' These are only notions and not yet concrete dreams. As they grow up, these could become dreams if they can hold unto them.

    IMAGINATION

The use of our imagination is what fills the gap between an idea and a dream. John Maxwell defines a dream as "An inspiring picture of the future, which energizes your mind, will, and emotions; empowering you to do everything you can to achieve it.’’ The Wright brothers dreamt of flying a plane. Thomas Edison dreamt of the electric light bulb; Alexander Graham Bell, of the telephone; Steve Jobs, of the iPhone; Henry Ford, of mass production of vehicles; Mark Zuckerberg, of Facebook. The list goes on.

How could these people dream such big dreams? Are they the only ones, God gave the capacity for big dreams? Are they special humans? I think not. It is even possible that these same ideas occurred to others, but they could not turn them into dreams.

Different thoughts come to us based on our exposure. When an idea flashes through your mind and synchronizes with your natural talents, there is a possibility it can transform into a dream. We convert ideas into mental pictures with our imagination. What most people have, are just ideas and not dreams. They have not done the necessary work of visualization.

Our imagination is like the imaging process of a camera. An illuminated object scatters the light incident on it. Any camera facing this object collects some of the scattered light with its lens and uses it to create the image of the object. Your mind is like the camera lens; the object is the idea, and knowledge is the light. The greater the light the camera has, the sharper image, the same way, the more knowledge you have of an idea, the better your mind can vividly picture it.

Relevant knowledge on any subject is so powerful; it is the ingredient the mind uses to change ideas into dreams. When an interesting thought goes through your mind, it is only the beginning. You must do the vital work of researching the notion. Collect as much information as you can about the idea, and mentally turn it into an exciting picture. This is how to use the imagination to achieve remarkable things.

No one accepted, it was possible for human beings to run the mile in less than four minutes. But an English man, Roger Bannister did it through the power of imagination. He visualized himself breaking the barrier repeatedly until he felt sure it was possible. Walt Disney was an American filmmaker that used possibility thinking to transform his circumstances.

    MAKE ROOM FOR YOUR DREAM

All of us with few exceptions start adult life by doing a job. While on the job, find out what is your work. Only a handful of people are doing a job that is also their work. People can sack you from a job but not from your work. As we do our jobs, we should also be engaged, somehow, doing our work.
