Coming Home To Myself - Lisa Silvani
A Journey by You
There are moments of weakness where we might lose ourselves.
When you reach those moments.
If those moments arrive...
Embrace it.
Hug them with all your heart.
For they are your savior.
Those moments are there to teach you something.
Something that can only be known to you.
Something that can only be brought upon you by you.
This is a journey.
This is your journey.
A self-reflective journey.
How To Use This Book
Welcome to the Self-Love Journey!
I am grateful to meet you on this journey, and I hope we can stay together until the end.
Self-Love Journey is a journey back to ourselves where we work on our emotions, perceptions, and thought patterns. It is a form of therapy, but a simple one that we can manage on our own most of the time. Self-Love is a necessity. It’s not a privilege, and it’s not a judgment call. There is no need for shame and guilt for doing self-love.
On the contrary, we should be proud of doing the work ourselves. We are committed to healing our wounded parts when we do self-love work. This is beneficial not only for us but also for others around us.
If this is your first time doing self-love work, I recommend reading this book from start to finish before heading to the chapter that you prefer. This approach will give you a complete view of what is self-love journey, the steps, and how to do it on your own. After you have gone through all the chapters, do the worksheet on the chapters that you think will help you the best.
If you’ve already done self-love before, I suggest you pick one chapter that you think will benefit you the most. After you have finished one chapter, consider reading the others. I recommend reading one chapter at a time so that you can do the self-love work at the end of the chapter. Be mindful that this book covers the basics of self-love, so it might be possible that you have already heard everything you will read inside. Nonetheless, there is always something that you could learn more and redo the work that this book might be just what you need for that specific thing.
Be patient with yourself during the journey, as emotions can quickly build up. When you feel triggered, feel free to drop the book and continue later on when you feel more grounded.
Love and Light.
PART 1
ACCEPTANCE
Before we can accept ourselves fully, no one else will be able to truly accept us.
Have you ever wanted to be someone else? Someone who dresses better is talented, taller, wealthy, or externally better. Someone that everyone likes. Someone with lots of achievements. I was one of them.
I used to dream of being someone else. The person is Always surrounded by the people that adore them. Everyone loves them. Or that intelligent kid that gets the highest grade and is praised by teachers. Or the kid that always gets everything they want from their parent. What would it feel like to be that famous person?
It was shallow. I know. But I couldn't help it. Now, it was nothing sort of envy or jealousy. Since I constantly feel and think this way to anyone that I accept as better than I do. It is never about someone in specific. It was never about attachment which is another entirely different thing. It is more about insecurities.
The biggest thing about all of these is not always about being better than anyone else. It's rather about being accepted by society. It is when my friends and family welcome it. I learned that people accept beautiful, successful people and get ahead in life.
We all want to belong somewhere. This sense of belonging is a universal feeling and need. It's not owned by just a specific set of people or personalities. Although some might put higher value into it, the emotions are equal. We want to belong to a particular group and become part of a community. This sense of belonging also becomes part of socializing in the community. It is as if we identify each other by the group and community that we are part of. That is why the need to belong stays within us even after we no longer act as hunters and gatherers.
The need to belong leads to the urge and craving for acceptance. We crave acceptance from family, friends, colleagues, and spouses. This need is developed from our ancestors' time, around 11,000 – 12,000 years ago, when being part of a tribe meant security. It will determine whether we can survive the next day. It is because our ancestors lived as hunters where almost all tasks, fishing, hunting, gathering fruits, cutting trees, and many more, are constantly being done in groups. It makes sense because it is tough to do it alone. Back then, life was hard. It's not just about trying to fulfill your family's next dinner but also looking out your back for predators and dangers.
At that time, the tribe was everything. They do everything together. Usually, each tribe will operate as a group and assign tasks to each member of the tribe. This kind of arrangement can create many problems and conflicts within the tribe. Therefore, usually, every tribe will have its leader and sets of rules to make sure
