COMPELLING REASONS FOR READING THE GITA
Once there was an old man ‘Hare Krishna’ living with his grandson Hrishikesh. He used to train Hrishikesh in spirituality. He was insisting on Bhagavad Gita recitation by Hrishikesh. Hrishikesh followed obediently
without questioning. One day he asked his grandfather Grandpa, you are insisting that I should recite Gita and I am doing so. What is the use of this when if I can neither understand nor remember the Gita slokas? Why are you compelling me to do this exercise when there are no results?
Grandfather just smiled and asked him to bring the bamboo basket which was used for keeping coal. He asked Hrishikesh to take that basket to the nearby river and bring water in it.The water used to leak out and the basket was always near-empty when Hrishikesh brought it home.
After a month, Hrishikesh asked grandfather the purpose of this exercise. Hare Krishna smiled and told Hrishikesh to take a look at the basket. Hrishikesh found that the once-black basket, has now become spotlessly clean. Hare Krishna said, "When
