THE APOLOGY
रूपंरूपविव - र्जितस्य भवतो ध्यानेन यतकल्पितम,
स्तुत्यानिर्वचनीयता खिलगुरौ दूरीकृता यन्मया।
व्यापित्वं च निराकृतं भगवतोयतीर्थयात्रादिना,
क्षंतव्यंजगदीशतद्विकलता दोषत्रयामतकृतं॥
THE APOLOGY
Formless and figureless is Lord Almighty,
Whom I presented in inform, figure plainly,
God incomprehensible, inconceivable be,
Past sense-organs to know, describe fully.

Yet I have praised, acclaimed foolishly,
Glorified Lord with prayers unendingly.
Supreme all-pervading everywhere be,
In universe and beyond unquestionably.

Yet I gave actual places but imprudently,
Pilgrimages shown as His abode holy,
Riding on wings of my imagination only,
I sinned - I regret, seek pardon humbly.

BHOLENATH
Bholenath
Lord Shiv known with names many,
Very popular that of Bholenath be,
He blesses his followers unfailingly,
With grace, knowledge, peace surely.

Bholenath - ash covered is His body
His unclad body points very clearly,
To the life and the death philosophy,
That death is the ultimate life reality.

Lord Bholenath which the lifeline be,
For all living being – Pasupatinath be,
His matted hair flow as Wind god be,
Who subtle breath form in life surely.

His love unconditional to a devotee,
A devotee is a devotee for Him only,
There is no bad and good devotee,
There no wrong and right does be.

He home for all His true devotees,
Without love for material things truly,
All that can vow Him - true love be,
Holds not back His love for devotee.

He is bholenath so is pleased easily,
Just remember Him whole-heartedly,
His availability not selective does be,
Not curbed to time, space, geography.

Bholenath is a miracle who needs only,
Faith and belief – He eternal does be,
With iternal love, sheding greed entirely
As His name suggests, He innocent.be.

Bholenath need no pomp or show truly,
Remember Him with your heart wholly,
God of Gods, universe structure He be,
Aadiyogi, an example of kindness truly.

Bholenath devoid of deception does be,
He calm, kind and needed in life surely,
He the origin and your destination be,
He the essence from where essence be.

Even as God, He highlights very clearly,
All of human emotions - vulnerable be,
He is calm but burning coals within be,
He both, the potent and the drought be.

His innocence and boundless does be,
His love is abundant - a Bholenath truly,
He the kind one filled with love does be,
Ever with warmth and protector surely,

He the centrifugal force of Universe be,
He the dissolving force unquestionably.
His calmness akin to ocean stillness be.
As Ocean quite till no ripples within be,

When Shiv’s inner-self not aligned be,
With His calm Self ever so dreadedly,
He holds the power to destroy totally,
Everything with His might indubitably.

Engaged in meditation, fill with joy be,
All knowing and all aware universally,
With the power to see all very clearly,
Innocent and unassuming perpetually.

He the destructive form of Almighty,
As destruction, recreation in circle be,
Ongoing life cycle His responsibility,
As Mahakal destroys, dissolves totally.

The Trimurti - wherein the cosmic functions be,
That of creation, maintenance, destruction truly,

Personified by forms as Lord Brahma - Creator be,
Lord Vishnu - Preserver and Shiv - Destroyer be.

Lord Shiv, a Trimurti, is one of the supreme deities,
And is represented by the Shiv linga customarily,

He the ultimate controller of birth and death be,
That trait of Supreme Being dissolving endlessly.

Shiv unique, reproducing destroying, dissolving be,
His symbol Lingam denotes power of reproductivity,

Dissolving to recreate in the creation cyclic clearly,
To preserve, dissolve, recreate universe repeatedly,

Lord Shiv the lord of mercy and compassion be,
Protecting from evil forces his faithful devotees.

Evil of the dark such as lust, greed, and anger be,
He grants boons, grace, wisdom to His devotees,

All who worships Shiv attain Supreme Bliss clearly,
And all Hindu scriptures accepts then Moksha be.

In Rig Veda Rudra is mentioned along with a litany,
He is called Rudra Father of the Universe
surely,

As Rudra The Lord or Sovereign of Universe
be,
Even in Yajur Veda Rudra is praised profoundly.

भुवनस्य पितरं गीर्भिराभी रुद्रं दिवा वर्धया रुद्रमक्तौ।
बर्हन्तं रष्वमजरं सुषुम्नं रधग घुवेम कविनेषितासः॥
Rig Veda 6.49.10
'Rudra by day, Rudra at night we honour whole-heartedly,
With these our songs, the Universe's Father reverently;

He great and lofty, blissful, undecaying surely be,
Let us call specially as Sage impels unendingly'.

सथिरेभिरङगैः पुरुरूप उग्रो बभ्रुः शुक्रेभिः पिपिशेहिरण्यैः।
ईशानादस्य भुवनस्य भूरेर्न वा उ योषद रुद्रादसुर्यम॥
The Rig Veda 2.33.9
'With firm limbs, multiform, the strong, the tawny
Adorns Self with bright gold decorations clearly:

Strength of Godhead departs not from Rudra truly,
He, who is the Sovereign of this world - the mighty.'

Shiv Primer
Lord Shiv, also as Mahesh known be,
He the third God of the Hindu trinity,
Denoting human nature’s peace truly,
And victory over all demonic activity.

He the Destroyer, Giver, rules totally,
Over the death and destruction fully,
He Lord of meditation, mystic, mystery,
And the greatest of all the known yogis.

He in an ever-meditating form does be,
In an ever-happy posture with beauty,
With matted hair controlling Ganga truly,
And a crescent moon on head clearly.

A serpent around His neck, arms does be,
Trident in hand and ashes over his body,
His vehicle a powerful bull named Nandi,
The symbol of happiness and strength be.

Shiv-Ling, a sign of Lord universally be,
It is pray to in place of Him respectfully,
His Om Namah Shivya chant evidently,
Consisting but just of six syllables merely.

This om, na, mah, shi, vaa, ya does surely be,
Continually chanted to please Him lovingly,
Some texts refer to these letters reverently,
As the forms of Lord Shiv unquestionably.

As Satyam, Shivm, Sundaram clearly be,
Or Truth, Goodness and Beauty, Shiv be,
He denotes the most vital goodness truly,
And He the God of all the yogis clearly be.

Shiv self-controlled and celibate surely be,
Yet lover of His spouse Shakti concurrently,
In Shiv art of meditation unmistakeably be,
Takes its most absolute form undoubtedly.

In meditation, not only mind stopped be,
But all things are dropped completely,
Even object of meditation as mantra be,
Transformed into formless essence truly.

Formless essence - of all things and life be,
Thus Lord Shiv stands for letting go fully,
Of everything in the world of forms surely,
Shiv’s path is the path of the ascetic yogi.

Lord Shiv has many visible forms rightly,
His Panchavaktra form with 5 heads be,
As Aghora in the cremation grounds be,
Ishana often appears as Shivlinga clearly.

Tat Purusha meditating, Varna eternal be,
Saddyojat or Braddha Rudra wrathful be,
This forms connection to Rudraksha surely,
Rosary mala - dried fruits of Rudraksha tree.

As Nataraj Shiv's dance represents wholly,
Destruction and creation of universe truly,
Reveals cycles of death, birth, rebirth clearly,
His Dance of Bliss for welfare of the world be.

In this dance He gives darshan to devotees,
Within consciousness which heart of man be,
Under His feet kills demon of ignorance fully,
Which is caused by forgetfulness certainly.

One hand indicates release of bondage earthly,
Fire denotes final destruction of creation truly,
But dance of the Nataraj also act of creation be,
Stirs latent energies – ensuing creation surely.

He also as Hanuman, the ultimate karma yogi,
In unending selfless service to Lord Ram be,
Never take credit for acts - a true karma yogi,
As that would otherwise not be selfless entirely.

Mahamrityunyaya form of Shiv does be,
The great conqueror of death undeniably,
It pure joy, unconditioned enjoyment be,
Of perfectly peaceful mind given to devotees.

Lord Shiv the destructive force does be,
He the centrifugal force of universe be,
As He is responsible for death certainly,
And the destruction of everything finally.

The power or energy of Shiv is Shakti,
His spouse Parvati the most popular be,
His first wife was Sati then was Parvati,
Known as Uma, Gauri, Durga and Kali.

Unlike Brahma the Creator undoubtedly,
Or Vishnu, the Preserver unquestionably,
Shiv the dissolving force in life does be,
He dissolves in order to create clearly.

Since death the medium for rebirth but be,
So the opposites of life and death assuredly,
The Creation and destruction irrefutably be,
And so both reside in His character definitely.

Lord Shiv the destroyer of the world does be,
Shiv is responsible for death, destruction be,
The destroying the ego and attachments truly,
To be reborn an improved person in actuality.

All that has some beginning must end finally,
In destruction nothing is destroyed actually,
But the illusion or delusion of the individuality,
So this destruction of Shiv purifying power be.

Destruction opens path for new creation truly,
For beauty, drama of universal illusion surely,
To unfold
