1 The Cure For Mistakes - Neil
By the time Neil finished explaining an abbreviated version of his hallway escapade with Elyenka, Healer Landon had progressed from looking like he would bite his head off to outright tossing him out on his ear.
He was partially sure the only reason he was still sitting there on the examination bed was on account of Ben Carlson's name having wrangled him into Healer Landon's notice in the first place. There was a distinct possibility that he would receive the help he needed—coupled with a very stern lecture or more—before any other minor crisis came his way.
Maybe.
Nothing had gone right in the past few hours and he wasn’t holding any hope for that to change soon.
Especially not from Healer Landon.
His current glower wasn't exactly much of an improvement from what he knew of the stoic man, but Neil wasn't into splitting scales over the issue. Instead, he shrank down into the examination bed, as much as the armrest propped up over his lap, would allow.
His hands, coated in a thick, cooling green gel, rested on the tray-lap table, palms up. The thick green gel was the only reason he was able to sit so quietly in relative comfort, given the reaction to casting a blood sigil to move Elyenka to the Medbay.
It was almost completely numb and he was waiting for the last few tingles to disappear, per Healer Landon's instructions. Only when numb, would the activator be applied and Neil was not in a hurry to find out what that felt like.
Now, Healer Landon sat beside him, rubbing his forehead with one hand. So let me get this straight,
he said, carefully. You decided—out of every single possible option in the realms—that your best course of action was to use a blood sigil on someone you considered to be family, experiencing an instance of significant physical distress?
Kendall bristled unhappily from his spot by the wall, held back only by one of Spencer's long arms wrapped around his shoulders. There were dark tufts in his hair, and pale blue scrolls of icy frost spiraling over his forehead.
One blue eye and one red, stared at Healer Landon with ill-concealed irritation swiftly blurring into downright dislike.
Neil quickly refocused on his hands. It was best not to encourage any murderous urges, even if he did feel like they could be justified.
There were many ways to ask that question and Healer Landon had done so in the most abrasive way possible—at least, to him.
Well?
Healer Landon prompted. That is a valid question. There are a thousand and one different options that you could've used and instead, you went with possibly the most destructive one available to a student of your level-
You already know I can't use my magic right now,
Neil said, sharply. "What else did you expect me to do? Elyenka is my friend. We've
