    Once, there was a highly advanced people in a faraway galaxy. They had everything they could ever desire, but were bored. They needed something new to liven up their planet. So they created a god.

    God is a God of grace and truth. Grace is the unmerited favor of God toward people. It is something we have not earned and do not deserve. It is the foundation of all healing of the human spirit.

    The second ingredient necessary for growing up in the image of God is truth. Truth is what is real, and it describes how things really are. God’s truth leads us to what is real, and it is what helps us become more like him.

    When Adam and Eve sinned, they cut themselves off from a relationship with God, and they also cut themselves off from grace and truth. The law was given to them to try to live up to, but they soon realized they could never measure up.

    The law of sin and death, which is the sinful nature, brings about bad feelings and failure. It is a struggle for Ruth to break free of its grip.

    Truth without grace is deadly, but as Beezy learned, grace without truth leads to less than successful living. In Grace’s church, Beezy saw people who were loving but directionless.
