Jim raced through the corridors, boots drumming a staccato beat against the metal floor plates. Sweat plastered the syntho-shirt to his back, his heart pounded louder than the ship’s old engines, and his breath came in whistling gasps, but he couldn’t stop. Couldn’t even slow down.
