About this ebook
Energy, the Economy and the Earth is a book with some novel ideas using existing technologies to strengthen the US energy platform and the US economy by implementing more renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power in addition to promoting clean tech vehicles within the government and in other areas. The overall outcome is a stronger and more energy secure nation. The book gives great examples and proves that the economy would flourish with the implementation of additional renewable energy sources while meeting the energy needs of the nation.

I was born and spent most of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. I didn’t always stay in the SF Bay Area but I was always drawn back to it, for it had lots of outdoor activities and it had great opportunities for work. I now live in the great state of Colorado of which I now get to enjoy the Rocky Mountains and continue to be inspired by the great outdoors. I was always curious and I loved science. I studied biology, chemistry and oceanography in college. I work in the sciences and like to keep up to date with global issues. Overall, I’m just a normal person with a goal to help preserve and save the planet.

Energy, the Economy and the Earth - Carl Boen
A short note from the author and a little history on this book
My main intention is to demonstrate that there are achievable good ideas out there to address humanity’s current energy needs while minimizing the effects of humanity with the Earth.
I hope that you enjoy the book and it and find it useful to help humanity live a long, sustainable and harmonizing existence with the planet.
This book is actually my second attempt to help the planet. I actually started this book a few years back. I also published it! However I did not give it a good title so I decided to republish it with a new title and a few edits and this is the final product.
So I hope that you enjoy the book. Just remember that we only have one Earth and there is no Earth 2. We all have to work together to live in harmony with our planet for both the planet and humans to survive and flourish.
And if you like the ideas in this book, then please spread the word and then possibly some of the ideas contained within this book will happen.
Your actions do count and you can make a difference!
The signs are everywhere
The signs are everywhere. Look around you. Humans are affecting the Earth. The population has grown almost 8 fold in just over 200 years to approximately 7.9 billion people today in 2022. Energy is a requirement to make humanity’s civilization operate. Technological advances using fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas power plants, and gas and diesel fueled vehicles, in addition to the usage of these technologies by a large population does have its effects. Air pollution and carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have been rising at an alarming pace ever since humans started burning massive amounts of fossil fuels (compared with Earth’s normal atmospheric changes over geological time periods). In our lifetime many cities have had an increase in air pollution and are getting smoggier, and so has the overall world. It is rare for a city to achieve cleaner air, but it is now normal for a city’s air to become worse over a short amount of time. We have to be aware about how humans are affecting the world and about our current surroundings, and we have to adapt to how the world is changing and to what the world is becoming. The world is changing at an alarming rate and the evidence is clear and in front of all of us!
The constant changing of the world will not cease, however we can minimize humanity’s impact. And we can minimize humanity’s impact while boosting the economy with just using existing technology in a smart manner.
Are there solutions? Yes. Can we improve our energy generation? Yes. Can we improve the world’s air quality and reduce carbon emissions? Yes. Can we minimize humanity’s impact? Yes. Can the economy benefit? Yes. I believe the answer is yes to all the above questions, and the solutions are already here, but only with constant awareness and action. And the Earth can benefit too!
How is all this possible one might ask. All it would take would be a smart yet brave leader and an informed public. It will require a leader that will listen to science and the facts. A leader such as the President of the United States that can and will take certain steps to help the United States and the world all while boosting the nation’s economy at the same time. Even the nation’s top politicians can act. Even governors and mayors can lead and act. Community leaders can act. And most of all, the public can act by demanding action and listening to the facts from scientists and experts, and most importantly by voting.
The goal
The main goal is simple-to meet the current and future energy needs of the United States while boosting the overall economy while living in harmony with the Earth.
It sounds pretty simple and it is. We just need to do it!
The secondary goal is education and awareness. To further inspire people to act and to come up with more ideas to deal with meeting the energy needs of the nation while reducing the overall impact of humanity and to live in harmony with the Earth.
Both of these goals can be accomplished by being aware of the options for energy production along with implementing the ideas described in this book.
Energy, the economy and the Earth are all connected
Energy, the economy and the Earth are all connected. They are all connected through the actions of humanity. It might sound strange but that is the way it is, and sadly that is the way it probably will be for at least a while.
Energy is needed by humanity for our civilization to operate, to make things go and to make things happen. The demands of energy will always be increasing as long as the population increases. People are also using more electronic devices now than ever so it is plausible to say that as humanity grows over time so will the demand of energy per person increase.
The economy will always be on people’s minds and it will also drive policy. Unfortunately this is just another plain fact of how our civilization works. Money usually trumps what is best for the world and even in some cases, people. So the future of environmental friendly energy generation has to rely on positive economic results to be successful. And economic results are based on data/facts and the mood and the
