About this ebook

Have you watched what is happening in the world and wondered why things seem to be going from bad to worse? After a 21 day fast, God answered my prayer of what is taking place by showing me how all that is happening—is fulfilling New Testament Bible prophecies. As I watch all the pieces falling into place, I sometimes wish I had never prayed that prayer because it can be heartbreaking. As you read through these pages, you will be overwhelmed at how the Word of God is so true; at the same time, you will feel deep pain as we watch the world drift closer and closer to destruction. The question you will be able to answer in the end is this Will I be ready to deal with all that is going to happen if the rest of God's Word is being fulfilled?""

Roger Henry

Pastor Roger Henry has been a student of the Bible for more than forty years. Through constant prayer, fasting, and reading God's Word, the Holy Spirit helped him see how scripture is being fulfilled right before his eyes. For the first twenty years of his life, he lived totally in the darkness of the world. After a powerful encounter with Christ, Pastor Henry has been living out His Word in his life for more than forty years. Through these life experiences, he came to a fuller understanding of the battle between good and evil—ultimately between God and Satan. Pastor Henry has a Master of Divinity Degree in Theology. He's been preaching and teaching the scriptures for the last thirty years. God helped him see how the scriptures are alive and being fulfilled as we live out what he believes are the last days as described in the scriptures.

The Prayer I Wished I Had Never Prayed - Roger Henry

    INTRODUCTION

    The Battle before Us

    We lost radio contact.

The leader of our firefighting team announced this to us after yelling several times into his handheld walkie-talkie trying to communicate with the control center.

Have you ever been in a life-threatening situation, but you didn’t realize the full danger until after it was all over? The following is a true story that almost cost my life and the lives of the men and women who were with me.

When I was in high school, I had the great privilege of going to Wyoming and working on a ranch that ran the ridge on top of Laramie Peak. I shared in some adventures that many will never get the opportunity to do, one of which was fighting forest fires.

A fire broke out on a neighboring ranch and everyone gathered to help contain it. I was placed on a crew who were to build a fire line up and over the ridge where it was too rough to drive.

We had started up the mountain making a fire line as we went, in order to keep the fire from spreading to the other side of the mountain. There were about fifteen men and women with chain saws, axes, shovels, and rakes making a path about ten feet wide to try and stop the fire from jumping to the other side of the line we were making. The terrain was too steep and uneven to drive any type of vehicle on so everything had to be done by hand.

It was after working for a few hours when we were taking a break, sitting on large rocks and drinking from our canteens that our leader realized we had no way to communicated with the control center.

Without any direction from the command center, we continued working our way up the side of a mountain for the next four hours, trying to stay ahead of the fast-approaching fire. The safety helmets we were supplied with had lights attached so we could continue to work when it became dark. By 1 a.m. we could all see the fire was starting to get dangerously close to us. An hour later we could hear an airplane in the distance getting closer. They must be coming in to drop water on the fire to put it out our leader yelled.

As the noise of the plane drew nearer, he told us to lie flat on the ground, bracing our heads with our arms folded over them. He explained to us that if you are standing and the water hits you as it comes down the force will knock you over. The sound of the plane drew closer, and we all braced for what could happen. With no radio contact they may not be sure of our location and the water could hit us full force.

The sound of the plane grew deafening, and we could hear branches breaking as the water hit on the other side of the ridge, we were working our way up to. We couldn’t believe they had missed the fire right below us that was rapidly moving towards us. Shocked and upset, we stood back up and continued working as fast as we could. As I said, the terrain was rough and rocky and the smoke getting in our eyes made it hard to see and to breathe. Twenty minutes passed and we heard another plane coming at us. We braced ourselves once more, and much to our relief they hit the fire that was less than an eighth of a mile downhill from us. Later another plane came in, again dumping their load on the other side of the ridge. They kept this up for the next several hours, one load on the opposite side and the next on ours.

Through the night we worked our way up and over the ridge and down the other side, stopping to cover up each time we heard the plane approach to drop another load of water. When we finally approached the bottom of the mountain around 7 a.m., we could see a few trucks that we assumed had come to pick us up. As we got closer the people in the trucks began running towards us, shouting how glad they were to see us. They handed each of us food and fresh water and they began explaining how the fire had jumped the mountain in the middle of the night and was burning back up toward us on the other side, as well as moving toward us on our side. It turned out we ended up building the fire line right in the middle of the fire!

I was only sixteen during this event, and in my innocent youthfulness I couldn’t comprehend the danger we were all in at the time. All I knew was just how extremely tired I was, wanting to go to sleep as soon as possible. Not until the next day when we were driving back to see if they still needed help did it finally sink in. From the distance and angle, we came in from you could see both sides of the peak of the mountain. I spotted the red dye that had been mixed in with the water they had dropped, and I could see where it had hit on both sides of the fire line we had made. The fire line and the places where the water hit were the only things not charred by the fire.

My gaze upon the mountain made enough of an impression on me that, as I recount these events almost forty-five years later, I can still see it all with great detail.

As I watch all that is happening in our world, I realize now why the Lord let me experience that moment and find the meaning of it today. As we go through our days, we can see the evil created by people getting closer to our lives all the time. The meanness, the lying, the cheating, and so much more, keeps getting closer and closer. And the more we try to fight it the more intense life becomes, so much so that we feel like it might consume us at any moment. At the same time, even though we may not realize it, Satan and his army of demons are getting ready to attack us from the other side of the mountain. Satan is building up a mighty force, and if it wasn’t held back by the holy forces of God we would all be destroyed.

The first twenty years of my life I lived without realizing I was even in a battle. Like most kids raised in the 1960’s, I had heard about God growing up. In fact, in my late teens I even was arrogant enough to make a deal with God. If You don’t bother me, I won’t bother You.

Well, it didn’t quite work out that way, and after many God interventions, which I will explain as I go through the book, I committed my life to Christ and was called by God into the ministry.

Then in 2005, after a lot of prayer, I felt God calling me too fast for 21 days. I had no food; but allowed myself one glass of pineapple juice each morning. Other than that, I only had water to drink.

During the fast I had only one prayer, a prayer that I repeated daily throughout the 21 days. God, please show me what is happening in the world today as it relates to Biblical prophecy.

Now I wish I could say I had a dramatic vision from an angel like Daniel did after his fast, but I didn’t. Well, not exactly anyway. What I have had instead is a series of events, dreams, and amazing eye-opening God-incidences ever since, which have aided me in understanding how so many Bible prophecies are being fulfilled right before our eyes.

What God began to show me was the intensity of the spiritual battle we are in today. This battle is described throughout the New Testament, but oftentimes we skip over those verses, therefore in many ways losing the battle because we are not prepared. The question God keeps asking me again and again is Are you strong enough to be a Spiritual Warrior? I have come to learn that this is the question every Christian is going to have to answer as the battle we are in intensifies.

After the fast the first scripture passage that came to my thoughts was the one about the prophet Balaam, in Numbers 24.

³ Then he took up his oracle and said: "The utterance of Balaam the son of Beor, the utterance of the man whose eyes are opened, The utterance of him who hears the words of God, Who sees the vision of the Almighty, Who falls down, with eyes wide open:" (Numbers 24:3-4)

If you are not familiar with this Old Testament story, Balaam was hired to curse Israel. Each time he tried, he ended up blessing them instead. Then, through a miraculous intervention by the Lord, Balaam realized God was watching over His people. That is when he fell down to worship God with eyes wide open.

This seems to be what has been happening to me ever since the fast. I was seeing things with eyes wide open that were happening in the world, things that seem to point to prophecies that are to be fulfilled before the return of Christ in all His glory.

I want to start by briefly sharing the top ten prophesies I think are showing why we are getting closer to the return of Christ. Throughout the rest of the book, I will explain these in more detail, and show you many other prophesies in the New Testament that are being fulfilled as we live out our days.

    CHAPTER 1

    Top Ten Current Prophecies

As we read and study the scriptures so many prophecies are being fulfilled in our lifetime that it is amazing to watch. Some in the world see what is happening, while others simply give different names for these events, either ignoring scripture or because they are unaware that the Bible predicted these things would happen. As Christians and students of the Bible, we have an opportunity to share with others what God said would ensue.

I believe there are the ten key things taking place right now that have not taken place at any other time in history all at once, if ever. I am not trying to set a date for Christ’s return. I am merely looking at all that is happening. As I do, it appears many prophecies have been fulfilled that were written so long ago. I will list them here and go into more detail later.

    Israel Becoming a Nation

The number one prophecy that I feel has been fulfilled is Israel becoming a nation once again. Have you ever wondered why the tiny little nation is the focal point of so much of the world? A writer two thousand years ago predicted this would happen, and we don’t even get excited that it has been fulfilled right before our eyes. New Jersey is the fifth smallest state in the United States and has roughly the same land mass as Israel, yet Israel is the center of the world news and the focal point of hatred for so many nations, just as the Bible predicted.

    Instant Worldwide Communication

The second prophecy I see that points to the End Times is the ability to communicate instantly worldwide. Communication has changed so rapidly we almost take it for granted today. When I was in high school in 1975, we talked about this happening in the future. Look how far technology has advanced communication in just 45 years. My wife and I have the ability to see and talk with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, who live in Bangkok anytime we want; something we just dreamed about back then!

Have you ever asked yourself why God would divide the languages at the tower of Babel, and why He would allow us to connect worldwide now?

Look at these words from Genesis 11: 1 – 11, as to why God divided the people:

¹¹ Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. ² And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. ³ Then they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth."

But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the LORD said, "Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech."

So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth." (Genesis 11:1-11)

In their arrogance, the people felt that they were as intelligent as God. They believed that they could build their way to the heavens, creating a tower on which they could stand to look down upon the world they felt only they dominated. So, God gave them a lesson in humility. They weren’t as great and as smart as they thought they were.

Isn’t it amazing how we have learned to communicate worldwide in just the last few decades, and how it seems to be fulfilling just what was written in this passage; that we now think we are smarter than God?

    Advancement of Knowledge

The third prophecy is the advancement of knowledge. The heading in my Bible for 2 Timothy 3:1-7 is Perilous Times and Perilous Men. Look at these words from that passage:

³ But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: ² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! ⁶ For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, ⁷ always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7)

We are seeing all of this lived out today with more intensity than ever before, but the part of this that might be the most telling is the fact that many are exchanging the truth of God for the lies of the world. Paul even tells us this will happen in Romans:

²⁴ Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, ²⁵ who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (Romans 1:24-25)

    Nuclear Bombs

A fourth prophecy that has come true in just the last 70 years is the development and use of nuclear bombs. The Bible did not predict this outright, but when you read the description of what takes place in the End Times it describes what would happen if many nuclear bombs were set off at once. At the time of John’s writing the world didn’t have the capability to kill so many and destroy so much at one time, yet he describes how one third of the people will be killed. Sadly we have the capability to do that today.

    Mark of the Beast

A fifth prophecy our current technology could allow to become a reality is the Mark of the Beast. In Revelation 13: 16 – 17 it says:

¹⁶ "He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, ¹⁷ and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

Did you know right now they are testing people with computer chips? You can get one embedded in your hand or in your forehead.¹ If you have one you never have to carry cash or a credit card. You just wave your hand or head past the scanner. It’s said that almost everything you do, where you go, and what you buy can be tracked.² What would it take for the government to say, In order to protect you we are going to place this chip in you? People are volunteering to do this already. How would John know this kind of technology would exist someday?

    Two Hundred Million Man Army

A sixth prophecy that I think is being fulfilled is the nation of China building up to having a two hundred-million-man army. Look at these words from Revelation chapter nine:

¹⁵ "So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. ¹⁶ Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them. ¹⁷ And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone.

¹⁸ By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. ¹⁹ For their power is in their mouth and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they do harm." (Revelation 9:15-19)

A few years back I read an article in National Geographic Magazine on China. It stated that China had such a huge population and such little respect for the environment that they were quickly using up all their natural resources, and that most of the water in China was undrinkable. The article concluded that at some point they would have to invade other countries to provide for their people.³ This article was not based on the scriptures or trying to foretell the future, it just stated facts and conclusions based on those facts. If you have read anything about China, you know in the last decade they have been building up their military with amazing new technological advancements.

    Natural Disasters

A seventh prophecy I think we are seeing fulfilled at a higher rate than ever before is the natural disasters that are happening worldwide. Some say that there are not more natural disasters than before, we are just able to hear about them more now. But if you study the records of earthquakes, famines, and hurricanes, we are seeing more of them, and they are growing in power and strength.⁴

    Hardened Hearts

An eighth prophecy I believe we are all experiencing is in the way we treat others with less and less respect. Paul talks about this in several places in the scripture, listen to these words from II Corinthians:

¹⁹ Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ. But we do all things, beloved, for your edification. ²⁰ For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbiting, whisperings, conceits, tumults; ²¹ lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced. (2 Corinthians 12:19-21)

And look at the way Paul says we will treat one another in Romans:

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; ²⁹ being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, ³⁰ backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, ³¹ undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; ³² who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32)

It breaks my heart to see how these behaviors are not only increasing dramatically in society, but it’s coming into the church more and more. We need to be praying for God to fill us with the Holy Spirit so we can live out the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

Look at the contrast in Galatians 5 of the ways we could be living as the Holy Spirit comes into our lives and we no longer live as the world tells us to live:

¹⁶ I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. ¹⁸ But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, ²¹ envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

²⁴ And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. ²⁶ Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5:16-26)

    Globalization

A ninth prophecy that is being fulfilled is the increasing globalization of our world. It is scary to read all the ways this is being encouraged. Some people argue that this is the only way to bring global peace for everyone.

Even though we do not hear much about it in the United States, this movement is growing in power around the world. The following is a quote from a report about a United Nations meeting in 2015 recorded by Michael Snyder, at Linkedin.⁵

"The UN is not asking permission but issuing a command that the entire planet will commit to 17 sustainable development goals and 169 sustainable development targets designed to radically transform our world by 2030.

The UN 2030 plan promoted by the Pope will advance Agenda 21 on steroids. Through a controlled media the mass populations will be told that this is all about saving the environment and ending poverty.

But that is not the true purpose of Agenda 21. The true purpose of Agenda 21 is to establish a global government, global economic system, and global religion.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon speaking of a dream of a world of peace and dignity for all⁶ is no different than when the Communists promised the people a workers’ paradise.

For the general population, The UN 2030 Agenda has been rebranded as the global goals. On September 26th, 2015, some of the biggest names in the music world (including Beyonce) promoted these new global goals. You can find some of the most famous names on the entire planet urging all of us to get behind these new global goals in a YouTube video of the Global Citizen Festival 2015. ⁷

    Christian Persecution

The last prophecy I want to share that convinces me we are so close to the return of Christ in all His glory is the persecutions of Christians around the world. Did you know more Christians have died for their faith in the last century than at any other time on earth?

A report from Open Doors Ministry states,

Christian persecution is any hostility experienced from the world as a result of one’s identification as a Christian. From verbal harassment to hostile feelings, attitudes and actions, Christians in areas with severe religious restrictions pay a heavy price for their faith. Beatings, physical torture, confinement, isolation, rape, severe punishment, imprisonment, slavery, discrimination in education and employment, and even death are just a few examples of the persecution they experience on a daily basis.

According to The Pew Research Center, over 75% of the world’s population lives in areas with severe religious restrictions (and many of these people are Christians.)⁹ Also, according to the United States Department of State, Christians in more than 60 countries face persecution from their governments or surrounding neighbors simply because of their belief in Jesus Christ.¹⁰

We may think we are safe. But Christians in the United States are becoming a minority. I remember starting every day
