    Introduction

First of all, thank you for choosing this book. As you work through it, you'll find a variety of questions to help you prepare for the DMV test. The questions are based on the information in the Driver's Manual of your state and each one is designed to help you better understand the material.

The best way to use the questions in this book is by practicing them. You can do that by following these steps:

Take a diagnostic test so you may quickly detect gaps in your driving knowledge and obtain a rough estimate of how much you know about driving rules.

Take the practice tests from beginning to end without stopping.

After you have finished, review all of your incorrect answers and read the explanations provided, in the answer key, in the back of this book.

Join the Facebook group and share questions or doubts with other students.

Remember, the more you practice, the better you'll perform on the real DMV exam.

In order to help you practice for your DMV test, each question has an answer and a corresponding explanation. In some cases, more than one answer might seem correct. In these cases, there will be explanations, after all of the possible responses, to help you understand why those answers are wrong and the other one is correct.

    Question 2 - Diagnostic Test

▢ This lane is only for turning

    ▢ Proceed with extreme caution

▢ This lane is now closed

▢ As soon as it is safe to do so, move into another lane

    Question 2 - Diagnostic Test

    (A) Lane use control signals are special overhead signals that indicate which lanes of a roadway may be used in various directions at different times. These signals are frequently used to regulate traffic flow in reversible lanes or at toll plazas. They can also be used to close down specific lanes due to accidents or road work. In Montana, a flashing yellow X indicates that this lane is reserved for turning. Utilize caution because oncoming vehicles may use this lane to make turns.

    Question 3 - Diagnostic Test

    (B) Make sure there is no traffic arriving from the left and no oncoming traffic turning left into your path before turning right at a junction. Yield to people crossing the road you are about to enter.

    ▢ A HOV lane is a high-occupancy vehicle lane

    Question 4 - Diagnostic Test

    (A) This is a lane that can be used both ways. A reversible lane transports traffic in one direction at times and the opposite direction at others. Typically, reversible lanes are employed to improve capacity during morning and evening rush hours. Keep an eye out for signs or overhead signals showing if the reversible lane is open in your direction. Question 5 - Diagnostic Test

Alcohol impairs all of the essential skills required for safe driving, but what is the fundamental reason drinking and driving is so dangerous?

▢ Your reflexes are dulled by alcohol

▢ Alcohol impairs your judgment and ability

    ▢ Alcohol impairs your vision

    ▢ Alcohol impairs coordination

    Question 5 - Diagnostic Test

    (B) Alcohol has an effect on the parts of your brain that control judgment and skill. One of the reasons why alcohol is so hazardous is that it impairs your judgment. Driving requires sound judgment. However, in this scenario, judgment is useful in determining when to quit drinking. Alcohol decreases your reflexes and reaction time, impairs your vision, and makes you less alert. As the amount of alcohol in your system increases, so does your judgment and expertise. You'll struggle to judge distances, speeds, and the movement of other vehicles. Finally, you will struggle to maintain control of your vehicle.
