Behind the Veil - Jeanetta Yeboah

POWER IN THE WORD OF GOD

The word of God contains power. The bible declares

So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11 AMP)

However, when the word of God goes forth, something must happen. In light of this, the essential keys we must apply are faith and patience.

    The bible clearly says

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses] (Hebrew 11:1 AMP)

You apply faith for a reason. Even when it seems like nothing is changing or moving in your favor, do not allow your emotions to discourage you because God has declared something great over your life.

Remember a familiar passage in the bible where Jesus began to express his desire to eat. In (Mark 11:12-25 AMP),

On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He was hungry. Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if He would find anything on it. But He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. He said to it, No one will ever eat fruit from you again! And His disciples were listening [to what He said]. Jesus Drives Money changers from the Temple. Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple [grounds] and began driving out [with force] the people who were selling and buying [animals for sacrifice] in the temple area, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers [who made a profit exchanging foreign money for temple coinage] and the seats of those who were selling doves; and He would not permit anyone to carry [e]merchandise or household wares through the temple [grounds, using the temple area irreverently as a shortcut]. He began to teach and say to them, Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a robbers’ den. The chief priests and the scribes heard this and began searching for a way to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, since the entire crowd was struck with astonishment at His teaching. When evening came, Jesus and His disciples would leave the city. In the morning, as they were passing by, the disciples saw that the fig tree had withered away from the roots up. And remembering, Peter said to Him, Rabbi (Master), look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered! Jesus replied, "Have faith in God [constantly]. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and [f]does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power] but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will]. For this reason, I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.  Whenever you [g]stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him [drop the issue, let it go], so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions and wrongdoings [against Him and others]

Jesus came to a fig tree that was expected to showcase its fruit. However, this tree was not producing fruit. Rather than becoming emotional, Jesus began to use the authority that God had given him. He began to curse the fig tree.  He made the declaration. Note that nothing happened immediately. I'm sure His disciples would have thought their leader had spoken a word that would not be fulfilled. After Jesus spoke the word onto the fig tree, he didn't even mention anything about it. They continued with their journey as normal. Only when they returned did they see the fig tree had withered.

So, once you speak the word of God and declare the word of God over your life in prayer, it is not up to you to know how God is going to fulfill that word concerning your life. You are only to trust and believe God because God and His word are one.

For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrew 4:12 AMP).

Prayer Exercise: Recite Isaiah 55:11 as your first prayer.

    PRAY CONTINUOUSLY

Faith and devotion in prayer must be worked upon among Christians. This must be worked upon- Romans 12:12 Be happy in your hope, stand your ground when you’re in trouble, and devote yourselves to prayer. There will be terrible and uncomfortable times, but those who rely consistently on prayer will see it through.

Luke 18:1 Jesus was telling the disciples a parable about a need to pray continuously and not to be discouraged. Our Lord Jesus Christ has foreseen the trying times ahead of the believers. He advised us to be strong and pray continuously. Faith in prayer is diminishing day by day, and we must re-awaken the habit of praying in our Christian life.

As human life continues, prayer seems an even more daunting task. The question on mini minds is, is anyone listening? Is there something that even neurosciences will confirm about the mind, the body, and spirit? When you commit with your mind and set something in your heart, you have confirmed something powerful. When you express it with your mouth, you add another level of commitment that activates the power that was seated in you from the beginning of creation. That’s neuroscience. Add to science what the word of God says. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. There is power available to you to do greater things than even the flawless one did while he walked the earth. He said so. The way to activate them is through prayer.

Yes, you pray without ceasing. This is why prayer is continuous. Prayer is learning to utilize the power that is available to you. You are identifying, adding, refining, and activating. You are also learning about yourself. You are listening. You are interpreting and applying what you learn. In the process, you grow as a person and deepen your relationship with Yahweh.

Prayer Exercise: Choose a phrase from Isaiah 55:11 and commit it to memory to reflect throughout the day. Recite that phrase now.

    THE LIVING WORD

We are made in the image of God. We are small gods, and, in that sense, we can act in the capacity of God. Prayer and the Word of God go hand
