About this ebook
Just My Thoughts and Ideas is a book of poems where the author, P.J. Victor, decides to open up and share with us his beliefs. As the title indicates, they are his thoughts and ideas of the day when he wrote each particular piece. His inspirations were in fact personal things he saw happening in his life or around him. They are an accumulation of poems he started writing at the age of seventeen. We never know when we shall be inspired. It may be through a casual conversation with friends, overhearing someone else's conversation, a personal experience, or that of someone close to you where the ideas are born. At times it's just a word, a sentence or an idea. For whatever reason it resonates with you, and you feel compelled to elaborate on the topic.
What this Canadian author shows us in his first book is that not all men are scared to show a sensitive side of themselves. Being very sentimental in some of his writings, Victor shows a vulnerability most men shy away from. In this book he demonstrates that he is clearly in touch with his emotions. Through experiences of friends and relationships, P.J. Victor opens up to us on how he views things in his ideal world.
P. J. Victor
P.J. Victor is a Canadian author who was born in Ontario, Canada, and moved to Montreal at the age of five, growing up there. His upbringing in a large family, with four brothers and three sisters, taught him the meaning of family and its importance. His European background also helped in moulding his character and the person he is today. His marriage didn't last twenty years, but had ample time to bless him with three children of his own. They are his pride and joy. Being a part of their lives is a high priority for him. Coaching his daughter and eldest son in soccer and being the vice president of the figure skating club where his daughter showed off her talent were always a thrill, never a chore. Being a member of the parents' committee at their school, including a stint as school rep at the regional board, allowed him once again to play an active role in his children's lives. Playing taxi to all their activities was always a great pleasure, giving him more time with his kids. This book allows him the opportunity to leave a little something of himself behind for them.

Preface and Acknowledgement
Thoughts and Ideas is an accumulation of multiple influences throughout my life. Some go back as far as my teens, others from when I was married, and some after. From personal experiences I have gone through or from the people close to me, they sparked ideas I felt a need to write about or expand on. Sometimes a conversation may trigger a random thought, other times an event or a single word, even out of context, will be the inspiration. Moods also influence our way of thinking, at least at the present moment. If some writings may be negative, you need not ask what the mood of the day was! But as a dreamer and eternal optimist, my biggest joy is always writing with a positive spirit.
This compilation could not have happened without some invaluable help and input from others. The artwork from my beautiful, kind and talented niece, Sabrina, adds a dimension to the book I only dreamed of having. She made it come to fruition. Thank you, Sabrina, for your time, effort, patience, and insights. You have an amazing gift. A special thank you also goes out to a very special and talented friend, Evan, for his amazing art work on chapter 7, Faith, and chapter 8, Belief. Thank you, brother!
Sometimes help comes from sources that are very close to you, yet unexpected. I guess it would help to know what your friends and especially your family members do for a living. Having a large family gives you a lot of options of where to go to seek help. Funny story is when you call one up to see if they know of anyone, when in fact what you are looking for is what they do for a living! Oh! Maybe awkward at first, but very grateful afterwards. All this to say, thank you Nancy! My sister did a fantastic job of helping put this book together. Oops! Did I say job? Does that mean I need to pay her?
From my other sisters, Marie-Dominique and Noëlle, to my brothers Alain, Francis, Gilles and Marc, to all of my nephews and nieces, and great-nephew and great-niece, you have all been great inspirations and very encouraging and as helpful as possible.
Am I forgetting anyone? Maybe my three wonderful children? Yes, Bianca, Julian and Gabriel, you most definitely have been sources of inspiration, both personally and also in my writings. I can always count on you guys to help improve my mood or other times just change my mood.
I love you all very deeply and thank you.
Chapter 1
Chosen Few
Chosen Few
During our hopefully long and eventful journey through life, we shall meet a lot of characters. While some may be more pleasant, others may be more compatible. As we age and mature, we realize that they are not all friends. We learn to distinguish between friend and acquaintance, confidant and drinking buddy. Slowly and sometimes painfully, the lessons of life are met at the least opportune moments. How we confront them helps to determine and establish our character. Often with the guidance or simple backing of a friend, our paths are paved for us. As we sift carefully through the mass to handpick a select few, we shall endear them with the title of close friend. We, unfortunately, can’t help but blunder on occasion. The trials and tribulations we all face can be coped with if we have someone special and trustworthy by our side. The strong shoulder, the attentive ear, the compassionate heart, or the sound mind needed at those times of desperation can usually only come from our chosen few.
Before the greys start to appear, that elite group of yours slowly dwindles. Some of us fortunate ones find a mate who may even be amongst the ones we call friends. They are the true winners. The rigours of life take a toll on us all, but not everyone is equipped to confront them. At those least opportune times we reach deep into our reserve and hope to find the proper name. This is the person we trust emphatically, and we can only hope they are available. We are continuously tested and our bag of tricks can eventually run out. When our tank is empty, the soul needs replenishment. We reach out but, for one reason or another, no one sees or understands. Only those who have found their true mates are soothed.
Soul Mates
Do soul mates really exist? Or are they just a figment of our imagination? Is it just a concept to console us? What is a soul mate? Some people claim it’s the person they marry. Well, with the increased rate of divorces, their claim may prove false. This would also mean that those who
