    Revelation's Secrets - Daniel Cho

    Preface

May the blessings of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God the Father be with all of you who are reading this book. As the author of this book, I will start by informing readers of the background and motives for which this book was published, as well as to help determine who I am.

I am a servant of the Lord whose only purpose in life is praying, teaching, and evangelizing. When I founded a church and ministered, I taught the Bible every day. Teaching Scripture was the essence of my ministry.

In 2015, the Lord led me to end my church ministry and go to Jerusalem to teach and preach the gospel. The reason why the Lord sent me to Jerusalem in Israel was because the Lord opened the widest door to preach the gospel there. Before coming to Jerusalem, He inspired me to do daily prayer to bless Israel. After that, I was sent to Jerusalem.

In Israel, while preaching the gospel and teaching the Bible to Jews and people from all over the world, some received Jesus while others decided to renew their religious life. There were people who decided to read the Bible daily for more than an hour, and others who previously only prayed for 10 minutes who turned into people who pray for more than two hours after listening to my counsel. Some people repented of their past religious life and asked for guidance to accept Jesus again. There were many people who promised to read the Bible once they returned to their country. I also gave them Bibles in their own languages.

Among the experiences of teaching and preaching the gospel in Israel, I will introduce two special stories. One sister’s name is Ivanette, a Christian in her early 50s living in Florida in the U.S. She traveled to Israel for about two weeks and stayed at the same hostel I was in. We greeted each other and had a fellowship of faith, and midway through, she suggested that she wanted to learn the Bible from me. She had planned to return to the U.S. in three to four days.

But after studying the Bible together about two times, she said she was touched by the Holy Spirit and wanted to learn the entire Bible course I was teaching. So, she postponed her departure, and for 30 days, she learned the Bible from me for two hours daily without skipping a day. I mostly taught in the lounge of the hostel and even at the dining table of the guest house. She finished the entire course of the Bible Study, which takes about 60 hours. From the basics of truth to solid things, she learned everything topic by topic, and even listened to the sermons on Revelation in detail. Then she left for the U.S.

Also, during this process, two British people joined the Bible study, and these British people brought some Indian people to the Bible study. They were all Christians who came to Israel for travel. These British and Indian people had come for short-term stays at the hostel, but they would learn the Bible in the evening after sightseeing in the day. It is not easy to imagine that tourists would learn the Bible in a hostel lounge. However, the Holy Spirit has continuously opened the door for me to teach the Bible and preach the gospel regardless of subject or place.

I will introduce another story. After my first visit to Israel, I was waiting in the lounge of the airport to leave the country and sat at the same table as a young Jewish woman. She was an airport employee. We greeted each other and shared our names. Her name was Elizabeth. So, I asked if she knew that Elizabeth was a character in the Bible. She said she knew. I asked if she knew who that was, and she said she did not know.

I told her that Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist and asked if she knew who John the Baptist was, and she said she did not know. So, I briefly explained about John the Baptist, pulled out the Bible, and showed it to Elizabeth. Then I introduced myself as a pastor and a Bible teacher, that I had come to Israel to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ but because my visa stay was ending, I had to leave but would return to Israel soon.

She said that her parents were Orthodox Jews, but she was not extreme like her parents. After brief introductions, I began to preach the gospel. I explained to her how Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that Jesus was the Son of God, and why we must believe in Jesus to be saved. She listened very sincerely. And I told her that Jesus is in Genesis 1:1. She asked me what I meant.

In Hebrew, Genesis 1:1 reads that Elohim created the heavens and the earth, and I asked if she knew that Elohim meant Gods. When I explained that it is expressed as Elohim, a plural, because God the Father and Jesus, God the Son, created the heavens and the earth together, she was surprised and seemed to agree. I showed her the verse in Genesis 1:2, where the Spirit of God moves on the surface of the water and explained that Genesis begins with the creation of the heavens and the earth by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that is why he is called the Triune God.

She asked, Isn’t 30 percent of the New Testament wrong?

So, I told her that the New Testament is all from the teachings of the Old Testament, so if the New Testament is wrong, then the Old Testament is also wrong. I explained that both the New Testament and the Old Testament are true, and that we must keep the commandments and believe in Jesus.

Next, I talked about two important things the Bible teaches. One of them is how to live uprightly in this world, and the other is how to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I explained that this is only taught in the Bible, and that Bible contains both the Old and New Testaments. There are other things that I shared, but I will not introduce them all.

During this conversation, she asked me to tell the story again, saying that the stories I shared so far sound so impressive and special to her. She wanted to take a video of my story and share it with her Facebook friends. So, I shared the same content once more. At the end of the story, I shouted, Hallelujah!, and she shouted, Hallelujah!, louder and with a more joyful expression.

This short encounter with her was a joy and surprise to me. A young Jew who did not believe in Jesus was moved by the gospel through a brief conversation with me and was transformed into a person who not only believes but became a messenger to her friends. This young Jewish sister reminded me of the Samaritan woman who immediately began preaching that Jesus was the Messiah after meeting him at the well.

So far, I have shared the story of two sisters, American Ivanette and Jewish Elizabeth. The reason for sharing the experience of meeting these two ladies is to testify to God’s miracles. Could a traveler who was about to return to the U.S. think of staying for another month to learn the Bible? Could a Jew who hates Jesus be transformed into an evangelist who believes in and testifies for Jesus, all in the space of an hour? This is a miracle of God through those who teach and preach the gospel.

A few years ago, I began to be greatly moved that whenever I preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have to preach impending coming of the Lord as well. The experience of being moved was so great that since then, I tell the message of imminent Lord’s coming whenever I preach the gospel.

In my sermons, I gave many speeches about the rapture, the Lord’s Second Coming, and the Last Judgement. In particular, I deciphered Revelation in detail and taught about the end of time, preparing others for the rapture and the Tribulation.

This book is an accumulation of those sermons and teachings and is written through the Holy Spirit. Readers will be amazed by the many revelations and mysteries revealed in this book and will realize that the publication of these books is another miracle of God, like the teaching and preaching of the gospel to those two sisters. At the same time, the readers will be impressed by this spiritual and practical book that adds the wisdom of salvation to all who live in the end time. I end this preface with thanks and glory to God for giving this book.

    1. Revelation that even a child can understand

The purpose of this book is not to exposit the Book of Revelation, but to guide readers in interpreting Revelation for themselves. Revelation is at the end of the Bible because it is a prophecy about the end times, and it’s also one of the most difficult books to understand. Just as you need to know all the lessons in a math textbook, for example, to understand the most difficult lesson at the end, you need to know the whole Bible to understand Revelation correctly, in light of all the scriptures that precede it. Once you have a working knowledge of the scriptures before reading Revelation, you will see how scripture interprets scripture.

The apostle Paul said to Timothy, Since you were young, you have known the Bible (2 Timothy 3:15). This means the Bible is written so that children can easily understand it. This also means that children and beginners in the faith alike can easily learn the Book of Revelation systematically as long as they know how to study.

The purpose of this book is to help both chronological children and spiritual children, who have a difficult time understanding the Bible, interpret the Book of Revelation. You just need to learn the language of the book, much like you would need to know the formula to solve a difficult math problem.

    2. You can learn by yourself

To understand the Book of Revelation properly, several premises must be solidly in place, or you will interpret the book incorrectly. It is like buttoning a shirt. If you button the top button incorrectly, you will button all the other buttons incorrectly, and your shirt will hang asymmetrically. In much the same way, if you ignore these foundational premises, one incorrect interpretation will yield other incorrect interpretations.

It’s like telling a lie and then telling other lies to cover up the first. Ignoring certain foundational truths before reading Revelation can set off a domino effect of misinterpretations and become a comprehensive set of lies. But if you firmly hold on to a few important premises, you can study the Book of Revelation by yourself without much difficulty, without having to consult reference books that interpret Revelation incorrectly, and without needing a special teacher.

    3. The first solid foundation

One of the important premises you need to know when reading Revelation is that it was written in the order the events of the book will occur. For example, the types of disasters are marked using ordinal numbers, such as the first seal, the second seal, the first trumpet, the second trumpet, not as seal number one, seal number two, or trumpet number one or trumpet number two. This testifies that the events of Revelation are recorded in the order they will occur. This means you can get the complete story simply by reading the book from beginning to end and connecting the events as you read.

Also, in the NIV English Bible, there are quite a few transitional words in the book such as after this and then, which means after this or after that. The word then is rarely used in the Korean Bible, so the expression after this appears only five times, but in the English Bible, the word meaning after that is expressed as many as thirty-seven times. This also proves the Book of Revelation was written in the order the events will occur.

God wants people to keep their faith and be saved, and He wants to open a way for people to live, even during the Tribulation. It is important to know, therefore, what kinds of disasters are coming and to have the wisdom from God to prepare for them. The fact that the outbreaks of the Tribulation are recorded in order makes it easy for those who will be here on earth during that time to prepare for disaster properly.

When the second trumpet is blown, for example, one third of the sea becomes blood (Revelation 8:8). Next, when the third trumpet is blown, the water is poisoned, and many people will drink it and die (Revelation 8:10). If those who are still here during the Tribulation understand that those events are recorded in order, they will be able to avoid death by preparing for these disasters in advance. Unfortunately, those who believe these events do not occur in sequence will have a difficult time preparing to survive them.

God wrote the Book of Revelation in the order the events will occur so that those who will experience those events will be able to cope well and be saved during the Tribulation. Therefore, the premise that Revelation was written in chronological order is the solid foundation on which to build the rest of the house.

    4. The solid second foundation

In addition, much of the Book of Revelation must be understood literally, without the need for further interpretation beyond what the sentences say. For example, the fact that 144,000 people from the twelve tribes will be sealed (Revelation 14:1) simply needs to be understood as is. In the same way, the verse about the two witnesses prophesying for three and a half years who have fire coming out of their mouths (Revelation 11:3-4) also needs to be received as is. When the Bible says a third of the people die in a moment (Revelation 9:18), then a third of the earth will die that way.

The words of the Bible need to be understood literally, unless something is clearly a symbol, an expression, or a metaphor. For example, the parable that says beware of the leaven of the Pharisees (Matthew 16:6, 11-12) is clearly a figure of speech. It is easy to see that it does not mean the Pharisees are actually trying to harm people with leaven, because leaven is a symbol of hypocrisy, lies, and sin.

Revelation 12 contains a story of a woman giving birth to a child, going to the wilderness, and being protected for three and a
