About this ebook

Book Preview: #1 Everyone has a role model, someone who pointed the way at a critical moment in their lives. These children were my role models. They obviously knew something I didn’t and I was determined to figure it out.
#2 The debate over whether intelligence is fixed or not has been going on for centuries. Today, most experts agree that it’s not fixed, and that people can change and improve their intelligence through experience, training, and personal effort.
#3 The fixed mindset is the belief that your qualities are fixed, and you can only be as smart as your intelligence allows you to be. The growth mindset is the belief that your qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts and strategies.
#4 The belief that you can develop great qualities in yourself creates a passion for learning. Why waste time proving how great you are when you could be getting better. Why hide your weaknesses instead of overcoming them.

#1
Everyone has a role model, someone who pointed the way at a critical moment in their lives. These children were my role models. They obviously knew something I didn’t and I was determined to figure it out.
#2
The debate over whether intelligence is fixed or not has been going on for centuries. Today, most experts agree that it’s not fixed, and that people can change and improve their intelligence through experience, training, and personal effort.
#3
The fixed mindset is the belief that your qualities are fixed, and you can only be as smart as your intelligence allows you to be. The growth mindset is the belief that your qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts and strategies.
#4
The belief that you can develop great qualities in yourself creates a passion for learning. Why waste time proving how great you are when you could be getting better. Why hide your weaknesses instead of overcoming them.
#5
When it comes to dealing with failure, people with the growth mindset think about what they can do to improve next time, while people with the fixed mindset just think about how they’re going to quit.
#6
The fixed and growth mindsets are what lead to people’s different ideas about risk and effort. When you have a growth mindset, you believe that your qualities can be cultivated, and this leads to a different set of thoughts and actions.
#7
People with the growth mindset are more likely to have inflated views of their abilities, but they are also more likely to have accurate views of their abilities. They are also more likely to be able to learn from their mistakes.
#8
The mindsets that lead to the growth mindset are the love of challenge, belief in effort, resilience in the face of setbacks, and greater success. They are found in exceptional people, who seem to have a special talent for converting life's setbacks into future successes.
#9
You can change your mindset, and your ability is on the line. You can feel everyone’s eyes on you, and you can see the instructor’s face evaluating you. But in a growth mindset, you’re a novice, and the teacher is a resource for learning.
