Amy Zulpa

Amy Zulpa has written a number of books that are focused on healthy foods, but one of the options that she really loves is the smoothie. It is versatile, can work as a complete meal or as a filler until the next meal, and can taste really great if it is prepared properly. It was Amy's mother who introduced her to smoothies. In fact, she gave smoothies to Amy and her siblings to ensure that they got the necessary nutrients that make all the difference in growing healthy, energetic children. This book is her way of paying it forward.

    What are Essential Oils?

Just imagine: It’s a beautiful day outside. You are running in a park surrounded by gorgeous trees and flowers. If you think a little deeper, you realize that you are surrounded by all kinds of essential oils. And essential oils can do wonders for all the age-old ailments that have afflicted mankind down through the centuries.

Essential oils are extracted from flowers, leaves, tree bark, seeds, berries, roots, stems, fruits or twigs. Essential oils are highly concentrated potent liquids that do not feel oily. Other names of essential oils are aromatherapy oils, volatile oils, ethereal oils or aetherolea. Our ancestors started to use the oils hundreds if not thousands of years ago, because they discovered the therapeutic effects the oils can have.

One of the ways to use these oils is to rub them on skin. Before you start actively using essential oils, it’s a good idea to do an allergy test. Rub a small area of skin with some diluted oil. Look for skin redness or other painful reactions. Be ready, you can experience irritation. If that happens, do not use that oil. However, the majority of people use essential oils without having any allergic reactions.
