    INTRODUCTION

    Do you ever feel like an outsider, no matter where you are or what you do? You find yourself feeling lonely, even in a room full of people. At home, you don’t even feel like you belong. You feel like you are an alien among normal people. You look around the classroom and wonder to yourself, What is wrong with me? Why can't I be like? I wish somebody loved me. Every day, the student next to you is dressed in the latest fashion, while you are lucky to get a new pair of shoes at the beginning of the school year. The student behind you is always talking about the fun stuff he does with his parents, such as going to games, fishing, or camping. You think to yourself, I don't even know where my parents are. No, that's not true. I know where they are; they are somewhere, locked up, knocked up, or strung out, but not with me. The kid in front of you is smart, makes straight A's, and is always smiling and helpful. Even your teachers seem to be happy all the time and you think there is no hope for you to ever find relief from your struggles so that you can just smile back at people, happy and at peace with life.
