#1
The first great leadership conquest is to take care of things in your own backyard - start with what’s necessary and work your way up to what’s possible.
#2
The best leaders lead by setting a positive example of how to communicate and be approachable.
#3
Discernment is the ability to find the root of the matter and relies on intuition as well as rational thought. It is an essential quality for any leader who desires to maximize effectiveness.
#4
Your perception of others is a direct reflection of yourself. If you change yourself and become the kind of person you desire to be, you will begin to view others in a whole new light. And that will change the way you interact with them.
#5
If you’re not sure if you’ve found the right person for a role, try moving them around until they find their perfect fit. It may take time and energy, but it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to people.
#6
To be a great leader, you must have the qualities of a great leader. And to find those qualities, you must be honest with yourself and examine your motives.
#7
The true measure of leadership is influence. So why do some people emerge as leaders while others can’t influence no matter how hard they try. I believe that several factors come into play: 1) character, 2) relationships, 3) knowledge, 4) intuition, 5) experience, 6) past success, and 7) ability.

#10
Good leaders are able to draw on their past experiences and examine the conditions before making commitments. Good navigators are able to listen to the concerns of others, make sure their conclusions represent both faith and fact, and examine the costs before committing.
#11
Delegating means giving someone else the power to make decisions and the authority to carry them out. It also implies taking on the role of a coach or consultant, helping your team members reach their goals and develop their skills.
#12
People need to know that they made an important contribution to reaching the goal. When you’re honest about your need for help, specific with others about the value they add, and inclusive of others as you build a team to do something bigger than you are, everyone wins.
#13
What happens to you is largely out of your control, so don’t let what happens to you affect your attitude on the journey. You can control your attitudes as you travel on the journey, but you have no control over the actions of others.
#14
The third principle of Greatness is all about leadership. It explains how leaders think and how they should think, and it stresses the importance of seeing things from a broader perspective.
#15
Don’t try to impress people. Instead, let people impress you.
#16
The decision to have a positive attitude can be made at any time, but it must be managed every day to remain consistent.
#17
The stronger the relationship you form with your audience, the more likely they will be to want to help you. You must connect with yourself, communicate with openness and
