I woke up to the blaring sound of my alarm. When I shut it off I saw the date and quickly realized that it was just a few more days until my husband would be back home. The mere thought of him returning put a smile on my face. It was a good thought to wake up to.

My husband, Joseph, was a seaman. He had been off shores for almost a year. It was heartbreaking to see him go but it was even more difficult to try and live a normal life without him by my side. Every time I was out at the groceries, at the mall, or even just curdled in front of the TV I would turn my head, expecting him to be there, only to realize that he was gone.
