After publishing my first book, a lot of people I know were already asking me what would be my next writing project. While I appreciated their interest, envisioning another writing project, like any other long-term goal or final outcome felt really overwhelming. Quite a bit of inner work went into setting a goal of writing a book, and then following through with the self publishing process. It is a naked, vulnerable experience exposing yourself to public scrutiny, and having writing professionals edit your material with a fine toothed comb. But at least I had a point of reference, and knew that like anything, it’s all a process when you get down to it. And one thing I took to heart about my years growing up being exposed to my mother’s mental illness, was the Alcoholics Anonymous spiritual wisdom of taking things one day at a time. Just keep up with your spiritual path, and keep doing what you’re doing – those were the voices I chose to listen to, both from within and from without. Part of me wanted to just sit with, and bask in the accomplishment, and continue on with my life. I did that to some extend. But then again, as an expanding soul, I also wanted to give myself permission to understand that it was natural to want to do more by expanding creativity in a way that could be of service. It took a great leap of faith, serious prayerful/meditative contemplation, and some gentle prodding and encouragement by a variety of sources to bring this book to you.

So I kept writing. I continued to keep up with my weekly blog, completed a calendar version of Something to Chew On, and rough draft of a children’s book version. One of my daily meditations includes envisioning becoming the change I want to see in the world. It feels less overwhelming when we remember to look at the big picture, and not get consumed by the details. Details are important, as you don’t want to pole vault over mouse turds. But at the same time, picking fly shit out of the pepper, as Grandfather used to say isn’t an effective strategy either because it can lead to the psychological phenomenon of analysis paralysis. My writing process is akin to a kind of spiritual whittling, to use a wood carving metaphor. I remind myself to remember to trust that everything will work itself out in due time. Sometimes, just doing nothing and taking a step back, whilst realizing that part of productivity is allowing yourself to be non-productive. Energy is cultivated when you use it in other ways, including rest, relaxing, reflecting, and recharging. Even when I’m not sweating enough, through less physical activity intervals, I picture myself as being active in my consciousness during my daily doings. If I perceive myself as not in perfect balance, I look forward to a deeper and higher alignment that is on its way, and give thanks to the imperfection that is helping me notice areas of concern and room for growth. After all, we are all works in progress – be it in this lifetime or another. Like Dr. Wayne Dyer’s mantra, instead of striving to be who you want, imagine the changes you want to see in your life and our world as arriving – the pictures we see on the horizon are docking in to our personal and universal shorelines.

After being approached by different self publishing company, it felt like a sign that another synchronicity was at play, and that a new relationship was being born that might help bring back more creativity from the Dreamtime. I have always been a bit of a dreamer, and like most of us that are free spirited in orientation, the gravitational pull of the material
