Your Wealth Is In Your Anointing - Terrance Levise Turner

Early in my ministry, my mother, Geraldine Key, asked me if I had any insights about the story in 2 Kings 4:1–7 of the widow with the pot of oil that came to Elisha the prophet seeking an answer for her desperate financial situation. My mother was not only seeking understanding of the scripture for theological enlightenment, but she was seeking godly wisdom, like so many single mothers have before, for her own financial needs. Her question led me on a seven-year study of meditating and preaching the answers to why this passage was placed in the scripture and what it can reveal to all of us. In only seven verses, the writer of 2 Kings 4:1–7 instilled certain core financial principles that, once discovered, will help bring financial deliverance and security to the life of all that avail themselves to these keys.

Your Wealth Is In Your Anointing will give you the impetus to seek and discover the potential that you have in your house. Your body is the house of God. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 6:19). We have a treasure in earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7). God wants you and me to unveil and release the wealth contained inside the treasure in us. This book will lead you on a complete, extensive journey to financial deliverance. You will be inspired to take action on your God-given gifts and talents as your mind is enlightened and renewed to the wealth mentality contained in this book. Do not die with your treasure still in the house! Do not die with your wealth untapped. Your wealth is in your connection with the Lord Jesus Christ! Now let’s go prospecting to discover and mine your wealth together. Your life will never be the same. Your wealth is in your anointing!

Alot of times we walk through life and we never realize what we have on the inside of us. We never realize that we have our blessing on the inside. God has put everything you and I need on the inside of us. We are self-contained with blessing, ability, provision, and potential. Everything we need is on the inside of us. Everything that we see on the outside came from inside of somebody. This whole world that you see surrounding you came from inside of God. You came from inside of God. You were conceived in Him and He released you into the earth. So everything we see on the outside came from inside of somebody. Somebody’s mind, somebody’s thoughts—somebody put forth the efforts to create a plan. It came from the inside. You have the capability, as a thinking being, to process information and think your way out. You can think your way out of your financial situation. God has anointed you to think your way out. Proverbs 16:1 says, The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. The Amplified translation says, The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the [wise] answer of the tongue. Also, Proverbs 16:9 says, A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure. But we have to take time to plan. We have to plan our success. We have to plan our release. We have to plan our success and prosperity. There is a way of planning and getting information for how to get out. Anything that has ever been done, somebody sat down with a piece of paper, and said, I wonder if I did this, this, and this; then maybe I could get this.

Everything you and I need comes from the inside, and we came from inside of God. God then put Himself inside of us. We are self-contained for what we need. We are self-contained for provision, protection, prosperity, and where we live. We are self-contained, and God has given us ability to get wealth. Your wealth is in your anointing.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

    —Genesis 1:26–28

    _____________________________________________

First, let’s establish that God had you on His mind before you entered earth. He had a plan for your life before you were conceived. Let’s look at Jeremiah 1:4–10. First we will look at the plan of greatness God had for the prophet Jeremiah, We will then look at the foundational scripture for this message in 2 Kings 4:1–7. We first want to establish that the plan for your life has already been made. God already established you to be prosperous. He established for you to be successful in life. Poverty is not God’s will. Poverty is not God’s plan. He is an abundant God. He’s an extravagant God! He has fullness of goodness and bounty. All you have to do is look at the earth and you will see how abundant God is. The oceans are filled with all types of life and an abundance of every living thing. There are multitudes of fish and marine life. God is an abundant God! Therefore, He has a plan for you and me to live in abundance. Let’s read Jeremiah 1:4–10:

Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

I’m establishing that everything that we need comes from the inside, and we came from inside of God. God said before He even formed Jeremiah in the belly He knew him. In other words, God fully comprehended Jeremiah and He had a plan for Jeremiah. He had a plan for Jeremiah’s fruitfulness in life. He had a plan for Jeremiah’s productivity in life, and his function in life. God said He sanctified Jeremiah. He selected him for this purpose. There is a specific purpose God has selected you for. God also said He ordained Jeremiah. He empowered him. He ordered his life. God didn’t say He ordained Jeremiah a prophet unto two people. He said He ordained him a prophet unto the nations. Therefore, God had an expanse of people on His mind. He wanted the reach of Jeremiah’s life to be expansive. God is an abundant God.

In the same way that God had an expanse of people on His mind for Jeremiah’s ministry, He has a plan for your life. You are empowered to accomplish it. Your wealth is there. Let’s also look at Jeremiah 29:11.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end.

Here we see the kind of plans God had for Jeremiah and for us, before He formed any of us in the belly. Before we were conceived in the belly, God had a plan for our abundance. God says He has thoughts of peace concerning us. According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, the definition for peace includes prosperity. The Hebrew word for peace used here is shalom. It is definition 7999. It has the meaning of completeness, safety, soundness, welfare, health, prosperity, tranquility, quiet, and contentment. God has plans for your prosperity. The Amplified translation of Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, saith the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace, and not for evil; to give you hope in your final outcome. God has plans for your prosperity. Your wealth is in your anointing.

    You Are Self-Contained

So, we are self-contained for what we need. We are self-contained for provision, protection, prosperity, and where we live. We are self-contained and God has given us the ability to get wealth. I’m establishing this in our hearts. You have something. And you are something. You are somebody and you have something. You’re not lacking. Don’t feel poor. You’re not poor. You’re wealthy. Your wealth is in your anointing. You are wealthy. You are wealth. You may have been looking for something and scratching around for something on the outside, but God tells us through scripture, you are self-contained. You have wealth on the inside. Let’s look at Colossians 2:9–10.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

We are self-contained. According to Dictionary.com, the word self-contained means containing in oneself all that is necessary; independent. In other words, God says, You’re not begging someone else to help you survive. God says you are self-contained. Containing in oneself all that is necessary. You’re independent. Self-contained also means: containing in oneself all parts necessary for completeness. God says you are self-contained. You are complete. A lot of times we spend our whole lives struggling, trying to be something, trying to be somebody, trying to become this or trying to become that. And yes, we do have to grow, refine, and develop. You want to develop in your skills, talents, knowledge, personality, etc. Yet, God says, you are already complete. You already contain something.

    You’re Already Complete

Now, we’re going to look at how you, as a born-again believer, already are complete. Your wealth is in your anointing. Your wealth is in your connection with the Anointed One. It’s because you are in Him and He is in you. Christ is the Anointed One, and the source of our supernatural empowerment is the Anointing upon the Anointed One. You are connected to that anointing. That anointing is in you.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

    —Colossians 2:9–10

We are complete in Him. Your wealth is in your anointing. Your wealth is in your connection with the Anointed One. Just like your salvation and peace of mind is in Him, your financial wealth is in Him. Your health and healing is in Him. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. All the fullness of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; the Creator God, that created all the heavens and the earth, dwells in you. The God that created all the gold, silver, diamonds, and oil in the earth, lives in you. The God that created all the stars in the universe lives in you. The Creator that pulled all of that out of Him, lives inside of you. It’s in Christ Jesus, with whom you are connected.

A person is an American because they were born in America. You are a Christian because you were born again in Christ. And Christ lives in you. Ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power.I’m establishing that we are self-contained and God has given us the ability to get wealth. 2 Corinthians 5:17–18 says,

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given us the ministry of reconciliation.

Therefore, if God is whole, well, full, and healthy, you are whole, well, full, and healthy—and wealthy! We are connected to Christ. Your wealth is in your connection with the Anointed One. Christ is the Anointed One.

It is the anointing upon the Anointed One by which you have your wealth and inheritance. Ephesians 1:15–23 begins to tell us who Jesus is, and what we have in Him:

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Notice, where Paul says, The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. The word hope means to anticipate with pleasure or confidence, or to look forward with joyful expectation. In other words, God wants your eyes to be opened to the joyful expectation of the inheritance that He has for you in Christ. He says He wants The eyes of your understanding to be enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of His calling and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. The word riches has this meaning from the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible:

    Riches

    4149-Ploutos

    1. Wealth (as fullness)

    2. Literally; money and possessions

    3. Figuratively; Abundance, richness

    4. Specifically; Valuable bestowment, riches

It’s from which we get our English word Plutocrat. The Websters New World Dictionary defines the word plutocrat like this:

    Plutocrat

    1. A member of a wealthy ruling class

    2. A person whose wealth gives him control or great influence

Also, we get the word Plutocracy from Ploutos. This is what it means:

    Plutocracy

    1. Government by the wealthy

    2. A group of wealthy people who control the government

God says that it is a part of our inheritance to be wealthy and to rule. This is a part of our inheritance that we have in Christ. According to Strong’s, the word inheritance that’s used in Ephesians 1:18 has this meaning:

    Inheritance

    2817–kleronomia

    1. heir-ship

    2. a patrimony

    3. a possession

    4. inheritance

Webster’s defines the word patrimony as property inherited from one’s father or ancestors.

We are children of God. We have received an inheritance from Him through our Lord Jesus Christ because we have been redeemed. God bought back our right to rule and to reign in the earth through the shedding of the precious blood of Jesus.

Psalms 24:1 says, The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. In Haggai 2:8, the Lord says, The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts. Also, Psalms 50:10–12 says,

For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof.

I emphasize these scriptures to show that the wealth of the world belongs to our Father. He has made us heirs to this wealth. He wants us to rule in the earth as royal sons and daughters of God. We do that through being connected with the Anointed One, Christ Jesus. Galatians 4:7 says, Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Christ is the Anointed One. We obtain our wealth through the anointing upon and within the Anointed One. It is our inheritance. God wants us to know that we have an inheritance, which includes wealth. If you are named in an earthly last will and testament and you get an inheritance, it typically includes money, land, property, etc. We have an inheritance from God. It’s not just spiritual. It includes healing, righteousness, wealth, and heir-ship. Here are some scriptures describing our inheritance:

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

    —Isaiah 53:5

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

    —1 Peter 2:24

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

    —1 Peter 2:9

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

    —2 Corinthians 5:21

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together

    —Romans 8:16–17

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

    —2 Corinthians 8:9

    That’s your inheritance!

Your wealth is in your connection with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Anointed One. You are empowered to succeed. You are empowered to prosper greatly. However, we must stretch forth and give the effort in order to obtain the wealth. All the promises of God are obtained by faith. We are self-contained and empowered by God Himself to break forth and prosper greatly! Ephesians 2:4–10 helps to establish you in Christ the Anointed One. This is what it says:

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

    —Ephesians 2:4–10

When verse 7 says That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus, He is speaking of this time. He is speaking of this dispensation of time and in the time to come. God wants to show the exceeding riches of His grace and favor in His kindness toward you through the inheritance you have in Christ Jesus, the Anointed One. Again, the word riches is defined like this in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible:

    Riches

    4149-Ploutos

    1. Wealth (as fullness)

    2. Literally; money and possessions

    3. Figuratively; Abundance, richness

    4. Specifically; Valuable bestowment, riches

Again, as we saw earlier, this is a word from which the English words plutocrat and the word plutocracy are derived. Webster’s New World Dictionary defines these words like this:

    Plutocrat

    1. A member of a wealthy ruling class

    2. A person whose wealth gives him control or great influence

    Plutocracy

    1. Government by the wealthy

    2. A group of wealthy people who control the government

    Blessed to Be a Blessing

God wants to bless us, so we’ll help Him accomplish His purpose in the earth. We deprive Him of pleasure and we hinder His plan when we fail to achieve. Psalms 35:27 declares, Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. If God "has pleasure in the prosperity of His servants," then how much more does He have pleasure in you and me, as sons and daughters? You are an heir of God and a joint-heir with the Lord Jesus Christ. He has pleasure in your prosperity.

Any parent has pleasure when their child prospers, in any way. If the child goes to the next grade in school, they celebrate that child. Every birthday, they celebrate that child. If the child wins a race, they celebrate that child. When the child gets their first job, they celebrate that child. When that child graduates high school, the parents celebrate that child. When the child goes to college, the parents celebrate the child. When the child gets married, they celebrate that child. It’s because that child is prospering! And the parents have pleasure in the prosperity of their child. Hallelujah!

Well, that’s the way our Heavenly Father is. He has pleasure as we prosper. He has pleasure as you step out. He has pleasure as you go forward. Hallelujah! Look again at Ephesians 2:10, For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We have been created in Christ Jesus, the Anointed One. We are the Father’s workmanship. We have been filled with the anointing and empowered to bring forth good works. From these good works we will obtain our wealth. I went over those scriptures to bear out the truth that you are self-contained for prosperity. Your wealth is in your anointing. Now let’s look at 2 Kings 4:1–7 as we continue to establish the basis for this message:

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

Your anointing is your ability to get wealth. Your anointing is your ability, your unction, and your power to get wealth. We established that you are self-contained. We established who you are in Christ, and that which you have in Christ. Your anointing is your "power to get wealth." Deuteronomy 8:18 says,

But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

God has given us power to get wealth. It’s your ability to do. It’s power to do. The word dominion starts with the two letters do. The word domain starts with the letters do. God has given you dominion over a domain. In other words, He has given you a realm of authority, a realm of influence, and a realm of responsibility. So, He has given you dominion over a domain. And He wants you to dominate in that domain by operating in your dominion or authority. In order to do that, you have to do something! The anointing destroys the yoke, and it lifts the heavy burden. It destroys the yoke of impossibility and poverty. It lifts the heavy burdens of life. Where things were hard, the anointing destroys the yoke so that you can do what seems to be impossible. We established that you are connected to the Anointed One, Christ Jesus. He lives inside of you. The Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. In other words, "I can do all things through Christ (the Anointed One and His Anointing) which is strengthening me to do it. You can say the same thing because the Anointed One lives inside of you and you have His Anointing for living. Now let’s look at Genesis 1:26–28. The anointing is tied in with the Blessing." It is tied in with the empowerment. God gave us an empowerment in the beginning. When God created Adam and Eve, He created him from the dust of the earth. He formed him from the dust of the earth. There
