Three Clues Make a Proof?
Before we talk about non-verbal communication and body language, we need to make a small premise: what I am going to introduce you to is not an exact science.
Not because I didn’t put in the effort!
Simply because the perfect manual on body language does not exist.
This is why the first piece of advice I would give is to apply the study of body language to ourselves rather than to others. Of course, if we have a good knowledge of what the dynamics are, especially unconscious, we can read something more into the minds of others, but let’s not make it a holy writ!
Another crucial point before starting: one has to take into account that in order to draw a really reliable picture of a body language reading there must always be more ‘evidence’. One does not necessarily have to be lying if one touches one’s nose - one might just have a cold!
This is where many of you go wrong. They focus on just one detail. Beginner’s mistake. There is no absolute number of clues to rely on, but I would venture to say that 3 is what you should use as a starting point. Not one. Not two. Three (at least). Three clear signs can give you reasonable certainty of your assumption.
Because that’s what you want to learn, right? To get to know others (and yourself) a little better through reading body language.
So we have already learned something very important: when we want to understand others better, it is always better
