About this ebook

It's amazing how one can wake up one day and discover that the person steering back at you in the mirror is a total stranger and not the same person some forty years ago.  Am I speaking of physical appearance? No!  I expect that at some point of time in one's life the body will change. Pa

Minister Evelyn Williams

Minister Evelyn Williams, a humble and resolute woman of God. A vessel of honor, one who is set apart to live a life that is pleasing in the sight of her God. She tells her story of enduring a toxic marriage for forty years but chose to wait on God with a smile until He intervenes. A toxic marriage is not something you want to live with. Sometimes God sees it fit to be rectified, and sometimes for whatever reason, He does not. One of the signs of a toxic marriage is that it will bring out the worst in both of you. Both you and your spouse deserve better.

The Journey - Minister Evelyn Williams

    DEDICATION

    I

dedicate this book in the honor of my three precious children: Collins, Dwayne, and Shavone. You are like life sustainers next to God. Proverbs 31:28 said, Your children shall rise and call you blessed. Well, today I feel extremely blessed to have such children. I don’t have to worry about my physical needs because they see to it that I am assisted whenever there's a need. I had expected this to happen because it is in our culture to do so, but to see them doing this with such pleasure brings me immense joy. Ephesians 6:2 says, Honor thy father and thy mother which is the first commandment with promise that it will be well with thee and that your days may be long upon the earth which the Lord thy God giveth thee. My children, it is my daily prayer that this word be your portion. Mummy loves you.

To my siblings: John, Isabell (deceased), Sylvia, Annamae, Mosel, Victoria, David, Maxwell, and Sidney. You guys have always been a source of strength to me. You have always had my well-being at heart and encouraged me in so many ways whenever it was needed.

To my sisters and Prayer Partners: even though I am far away from you guys, it is a joy knowing that whenever something goes wrong, all I have to do is go on WhatsApp tap on the sisters/prayer Partner's chat, and, with a blink of the eye, you will support me in prayer. I appreciate and love you guys.

    INTRODUCTION

    I

was born on a small, remote island called Water Cay that was located just north of Grand Bahama, Bahamas. This little place surrounded by water is known for farming and fishing.

As the third one of ten siblings, I was responsible at an incredibly early age for most of the housework. I had to clean, cook, and take care of my younger siblings while my mom went to the field. My dad worked in the city and tried to come home once a week to bring some of the things we needed.

I remember getting up in the mornings as early as 6 a.m. to pick, wash, and boil pear leaf for tea. While the leaves boiled, I would mix and fry what we called pany cake for breakfast before we went to school. There were extremely strict rules at home, and they had to be carried out properly and on time. Everyone knew their duties for the day and dared not refuse, or they would be severely punished. The residents there at the time could not easily access all the necessities needed and so they depended on farming and fishing. To get some food or even see a doctor, we had to travel by boat from the dock home to a place that was half an hour away. We called it the Crossing. This is where arrangements were made for a car to be available when we get there to get into the city.

We were born-again Christians who believed in walking according to the word of God with an awareness that He was always looking down on us with love and care. We grew up not having much, but we knew how to trust God and help each other. We knew that if we put our faith in Him, He will protect and provide for us.

    BORN BLESSED

    W

hen we as human beings hear the word blessed, the thing that come to mind first are money, fame and power. But what is money without good health? What is money without good parents? Can money really buy happiness? Only to a certain extent.

Being raised in a good Christian family is beyond having money. I call it being blessed and highly favored. A blessed family is one whose security and stability are based on a foundation that is strongly planted and rooted in God. One that has integrity and teaches the morals, that is, what is right and what is wrong. Ephesians 6:4 said, Parents, do not anger your children, but bring them up in discipline and in the teaching of the Lord.

I was blessed to be born into a family with strong and hardworking parents who not only took care of my physical needs like providing food and clothing but also steered me in the way of the Lord so that I would be morally, emotionally, and
