There Is Power in the Psalms
Author

Walter Wilson Cole

Walter Wilson Cole is a First-time Author, who answered the Lord’s calling on Resurrection Sunday of 2011. Approximately halfway through the Pastor’s Sermon, his entire body was inundated by the omnipotent power of the Spirit of our Living God, and he was anointed to DO MORE! After he accepted the Lord’s calling, he purchased a brand New Study Bible, and read it from the Front Cover, to the Back Cover. He then founded the Just Grace Ministries online with his Spirit-filled Wife, and after that, he started producing, arranging, and composing Christian Gospel Songs as “The Just Grace Gospel Music Band”. Now on fire for the Lord, one morning he had an epiphany of the infinite power inherent in the Book of Psalms, which ultimately provided the inspiration to write this Book.

    PREFACE

    Psalm 23 (NKJV)

    The Lord the Shepherd of His People

    A Psalm of David.

    23 The Lord is my shepherd;

    I shall not want.

    ² He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

    He leads me beside the still waters.

    39902.png ³ He restores my soul;

    He leads me in the paths of righteousness

    For His name’s sake.

    ⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

    I will fear no evil;

    For You are with me;

    Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

    ⁵ You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

    You anoint my head with oil;

    My cup runs over.

    ⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

    All the days of my life;

    And I will dwell[a] in the house of the Lord

    Forever.

    Psalm 23. What Christian does not know this Psalm from start to finish? Even many non-Christians are at least familiar with Psalm 23, even if they don’t have the words committed to memory. However, for devout Christians, knowing Psalm 23 is like knowing the National Anthem, and/or the Pledge of Allegiance – you just know it. It’s kind of like knowing the Lord’s Prayer, or knowing John 3:16 – you just know it. As a matter of fact, Psalm 23 is so powerful, let’s also look at in the Amp Classic Text:

    Psalm 23 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

    ¹ The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

    ² He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

    ³ He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

    ⁴ Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.

    ⁵ You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.

    ⁶ Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

    Wow! I should have fastened my seatbelt before I read that one.

    Now how many of you know however, that there are in fact 149 Psalms in addition to Psalm 23? Believe it or not beloved Saints, there are a total of 150 Psalms outlined in the Old Testament, yet most folks only know and recite on a regular basis but a very few. And, from deep within each, and every one of those 150 Psalms, there is POWER in the PSALMS!

    The purpose of this book is to help you discover the POWER, and the blessings that you can receive from reading and reciting on a daily basis, the most powerfully-filled, powerfully-laced verses of the Book of Psalms. My hopes and prayers are that you will enjoy this spiritual discovery, as much as I have enjoyed sharing it with you.

    As I was writing this Book, I actually even learned more about the Book of Psalms than I knew originally myself. I truly hope and pray that this Book becomes not only a blessing, but an eye-opening experience for you – In Jesus Name, Amen.

    Did you know that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Yeshua Hamashiach, read the Psalms?

    Did you know that Apostle Paul read the Psalms, as well as used them mightily?

    Did you know that the Holy Spirit, Ruach HaKodesh, was the Inspirer of Scripture? It is a well-documented fact that God the Holy Spirit inspired the men who wrote the Holy Bible.

    Psalm 72:18 New International Version - UK (NIVUK)

    who alone does marvellous deeds.

    There is POWER in the Name of Jesus – The Name above ALL NAMES!

    There is POWER in the BLOOD of Jesus.

    There is Great and Unlimited POWER in the Holy Spirit – Ruach Elohim Chaiyim. (Spirit of the Living God)

    The is POWER in the Word (logos) of God.

    There is POWER in the Psalms!

    Psalm 71:18 (NKJV)

    ¹⁸ Now also when I am old and grayheaded,

    O God, do not forsake me,

    Until I declare Your strength to this generation,

    Your POWER to everyone who is to come.

    Psalm 59:16 (NKJV)

    39902.png ¹⁶ But I will sing of Your POWER;

    Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;

    For You have been my defense

    And refuge in the day of my trouble.

    Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Eph 3:20), is most certainly worthy of our Adoration, Praise, Services and Awe. Of course I will sing of your POWER in the morning. Without a doubt, I will sing ALOUD of your MERCY in the morning – forever and ever, World without end – AMEN.

    Psalm 147:4-5 (NKJV)

    ⁴ He counts the number of the stars;

    He calls them all by name.

    39933.png ⁵ Great is our Lord, and mighty in POWER;

    His understanding is INFINITE.

    Psalm 145:10-13 (NKJV)

    ¹⁰ All Your works shall praise You, O Lord,

    And Your saints shall bless You.

    ¹¹ They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom,

    And talk of Your POWER,

    ¹² To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts,

    And the glorious majesty of His kingdom.

    39902.png ¹³ Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

    And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

    infinite

    [in-fuh-nit]

    adjective

    1. immeasurably great:

    an infinite capacity for forgiveness.

    2. indefinitely or exceedingly great:

    infinite sums of money.

    3. unlimited or unmeasurable in extent of space, duration of time, etc.:

    the infinite nature of outer space.

    4. unbounded or unlimited; boundless; endless:

    God’s infinite MERCY. God’s infinite GRACE. God’s infinite PEACE.

    John 14:27 (NKJV)

    ²⁷ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid …

    Let’s pause for a brief moment to talk about John 14:27 …

    The legacy that is here bequeathed - Peace, my peace. Peace is put for all good, and Christ has left us all needful good; all that is really and truly good, as all the purchased promised good. Peace is put for reconciliation and love; the peace bequeathed is peace with God, peace with one another. It is the counterpart of our pardons, and the composure of our minds. This Christ calls his peace, for he is himself our peace, Eph. 2:14. It is the peace he purchased for us and preached to us, and on which the angels congratulated men at his birth, Luke 2:14.¹

    Do you know what Sar-shalom means in Hebrew? It means Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6). Among many, many other names, our Jesus is also known as the Prince of Peace. Hallelujah!

    (Ps 145:11) … ¹¹ They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom,

    And talk of Your POWER …

    To speak of the GLORY, means to call out God’s Lovingkindness, His Caring, His Compassion and His Faithfulness. It means to proclaim from the rooftops His Unapproachable Light, along with His Ineffable, and Incomprehensible BEING.²

    And tell of your POWER – that is – the Congregation will sing the Praises of God’s Invincible and Impregnable MIGHT!³

    INVINCIBLE is applied to that which cannot be conquered in combat or war, or overcome or subdued in any manner.

    IMPREGNABLE is applied to a place or position that cannot be taken by assault or siege.

    (Ps 145:13) …

    ¹³ Your KINGDOM is an everlasting KINGDOM,

    And Your Dominion endures throughout all generations …

    Seriously Folks – Do I even need to elaborate further on this passage? 😊

    However if I must, the Psalmist here is simply stating that the Lord’s Kingdom is Unending, and without any Limits or Bounds – and of course Eternal as well, which it alone is.

    And Your Dominion endures throughout all generations … It extends EVERYWHERE in the known World, EVERYWHERE in the Ages, and EVERYWHERE in our physical interpretation of Time.

    In summary, God will govern the World until Time as we know and understand it ends, when the Mediator, who is now entrusted with the administration of his Kingdom, shall deliver it up to God, even the Father, that he may be all in all to Eternity. His Dominion endures throughout all generations, for He himself is Eternal, and His counsels are unchangeable and uniform.

    I have said this before, and I will say it many more times before his Book is over; there is POWER in the PSALMS! (And not just in Psalm 23, as I desperately hope to prove to you …)

    FORMAL INTRODUCTION

    John 1:1-5 (NIV)

    The Word Became Flesh

    1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was with God in the beginning. ³ Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. ⁴ In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. ⁵ The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it …

    John 1:14 (NKJV)

    ¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth …

    The WORD is Jesus Christ – HaDavar Elohim (The Word of God).

    There is POWER in the WORD of God!

    There is POWER in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

    There is POWER in the Epistles of the Apostle Paul to the Church in Corinth, the faithful in Ephesus, all the Saints in Christ Jesus in Philippi, and to the Church in Colosse during that Biblical time period.

    There is POWER in the First Book of Moses called Genesis, the Second Book of Moses called Exodus, and the Fifth Book of Moses called DEUTERONOMY.

    There is POWER in the Book of Isaiah, the Book of Daniel, and in the REVELATION of Jesus Christ.

    What I hope to do with this book is demonstrate to you, that there is also POWER in the Book of PSALMS!

    Psalm 29:2-4 (NKJV)

    ² Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name;

    Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

    ³ The voice of the Lord is over the waters;

    The God of glory thunders;

    The Lord is over many waters.

    39902.png ⁴ The voice of the Lord is POWERFUL;

    The voice of the Lord is FULL of MAJESTY.

    What we have revealed here is the nature of Religious Worship. It is giving to the Lord the GLORY due to His Name. There is a beauty in holiness, and that puts beauty upon ALL acts of Worship. The Psalmist here sets forth God’s dominion in the Kingdom of nature. In the thunder, and in the lightning, and in the midst of the storm, we may see and hear His GLORY!

    The God of glory THUNDERS! (v.3)

    Let our hearts be thereby filled with great, and high, and honourable thoughts of Elohim, in the holy adoring of whom, the POWER of Godliness so much consists.

    O Lord our God, thou art very GREAT!

    Now to say the voice of the Lord is POWERFUL (Ps 29:4), is an understatement in my opinion. Are you saying that you disagree?

    Are you saying that the same voice that said, Let there be Light, and there was Light (Gen 1:3), is not POWERFUL?

    Are you saying that the same voice that said, I AM WHO I AM (Ex 3:14), and "The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations" (Ex 3:15), is not FULL of MAJESTY?

    Are you trying to convince me, that the same voice that said Lazarus, come forth! (John 11:43), is not POWERFUL?

    Do you want me to believe that the same voice that said "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;
