Chapter 1

She sat on the stool in front of the dressing mirror, staring blankly into the distance for a few moments as her thoughts wandered. She remembered the night before and felt herself uncontrollably shiver with the memory of his tongue, her knees falling open lazily as she relaxed into the memory a bit. Bringing her out of the daydream was a sharp rap at the door to her private Green Room.

Her manager doesn’t wait for her to answer, opening the door enough to crane his head in and find her eyes with his. Her gaze told him he should have waited, and he noticed her quickly shifting on the stool to close her legs. He smiled without thinking and saw her blush.

What? she broke the silence with the impatient question.

Limo in 10. You ready? I can grab that bag, he rambled while bringing an arm through the door to point to my Tumi suitcase I’d just closed up.

Sure thing, Charles, let me pop to the bathroom and I’ll be right out. He had already entered and grabbed the bags, looking at her apologetically, he then said firmly Go at the airport, we’re going to be late. Walking out of a covert exit to the arena, she climbed into the limo and settled beside Charles. He handed her a Venti Iced coffee and her itinerary.

10 more shows, Charles. She began, running down the list of cities. I am going on vacation in 10 more fucking shows. She had finished sentence with her head back on the seat rest and eyes closed, picturing herself in the all-inclusive Adults Only resort she’d be staying at in approximately 8 days. She hadn’t been back for 3 summers. She spent a week there for a friend’s wedding and to say it was a wild sexual adventure would be putting it mildly. Bringing her head up, she opened her eyes to Charles looking directly at her intently.

He had been her manager for 9 years now, since she first moved to LA. Her luck had been incredible, meeting the right people at the right time, and impressing the right music producers. Her singing style was a mix of Toni Braxton’s depth with the passion of Adele. She loved singing her heart out for thousands of people every night and Charles had held her hand over the years – helping her climb the mountain of stardom to this moment.
