Why are we here?

DO you remember at school when your teacher told you to write down the lessons because it will help you learn? Or maybe at a workshop, you have listened to how effective it is to write your dreams down, so you get accountable for making them real.

I remember several occasions on which I got the same recommendation of writing things down. Even from my parents. I know you might have heard about it too but is there a real reason for that?

Well, there is.

Once I went a whole year studying a language and I took notes for each lesson. My studying system was good, but not as efficient as I wanted, so I decided to start over with a new learning strategy.

I kept taking notes, but this time I was writing every single detail and I did it digitally.

I started noticing that there were words and concepts that I didn't remember even though I have spent a year learning that language. Well, it was because I left out a lot of that information, and this second time I was more careful with my notes.

It's a sad realization that my memory can be very picky with the information that it decides to remember and that I need to have a better learning system. Hence, I changed several things for that matter and I improved a lot. I had a faster learning curve and better memory retention.

Turn's out that writing things down is not a hoax, and there are several benefits from that. You can find a lot of courses about it, for example, there's one to use doodles for note-taking which can be a lot of fun.
