()
About this ebook
Parenting Purpose takes a pragmatic approach to parenting—one that will help you raise children that are confident about who they are and what they can do in the world.
The techniques taught give children the tools they need to succeed in the workplace doing the work they were made to do. By using the book’s methods, you’ll be better equipped to positively think about your child, talk to your child, and make decisions on their behalf.
Throughout the book, you’ll get the opportunity to complete activities that can take as little as a minute to complete. These activities will give you an opportunity to process information as you receive it and synthesize it for use in your parenting.
The lessons were derived through using professional planning best practices combined with solid biblical principles on parenting and career development. The Parenting Purpose program has been used with success in private coaching for almost a decade and is now available to everyone.
Gather a group or dig in independently to bolster your relationship with your child and set them on the path to confidence, success, and purpose.

Preface
Dear reader,
I am so glad you have this book in your hands because I wrote it for you. I wrote it for the parents who look at their child and wonder what in the world that child will be like when they are an adult; for the parents who look at their children and wonder how their children’s interests will translate to real-world experience and hoping they never lose the wonder. This book is for parents who believe their child has purpose but feels lost as to how to help them fulfill it. This book is for moms and dads—birth, step, adopted, and foster parents. It is for anyone who is raising a child and wants to do right by them.
I hope that you will find relief in these pages, that you will find peace and even a little joy. I want to laugh with you and get serious with you. You may occasionally feel a little grief or disappointment while reading this book—and that is normal. I have written this book to lessen the disappointment, not increase it. It can help you work through any stuff that comes up by reading this book. Whatever the past was, the future can fit you perfectly. Please enjoy this book and take away everything that will help in your parenting and that will help your child.
Congratulations on taking this step toward a better future for your child and for yourself. I pray for you while you read this book and want to welcome you to the family and welcome you to Parenting Purpose.
Your success is my joy!
With love,

WHAT IS PARENTING PURPOSE?
Do you ever worry about your child? Are you concerned about how your child will make it in the world as an adult? Are you worried that their current activities aren’t setting them up for future success? Would you like to understand your child more and have a better relationship? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then this book is for you. Parenting Purpose is a how-to program with a step-by-step approach to parenting your child in such a way that when they are an adult they will have a successful, fulfilling career and a heartfelt sense of purpose.
The Parenting Purpose program was designed by a certified coach, planning expert, and parent to help you coach up your child in the way they should go. This book is the Parenting Purpose coaching program, now available in your hands, to work independently, with a group, or with a coach.
Parenting Purpose Roots
What in the world is Parenting Purpose?
I looked up from the sign-in table to see a large man holding my flyer and scowling. He was a dad who’d been dragged along by his wife to attend my workshop at their child’s school. I was a little startled, especially because of his tone and because he didn’t actually say in the world.
Then he added, Do you think I don’t know what the purpose of parenting is?
It was one of my first public workshops on Parenting Purpose, and I never dreamed that I would get such a question. I felt indignant due to the love I’d poured into development of the Parenting Purpose program, and I needed a second to regain my composure. When I did, it occurred to me that the concepts in the Parenting Purpose program are not intuitive, and that is exactly why we needed the workshops. I also admitted to myself that the title of the program might be confusing. If you are like this dad who approached me that day—a little confused about what this book is about—let me give you an explanation of what we mean by parenting purpose.
Parenting Purpose Definition
When you read the words parenting purpose, think verb first, then noun—the verb being parenting,
or the methods and techniques used or required in the rearing of children. And the noun being purpose,
or the reason for which something exists or is done or made for. The Parenting Purpose program will teach you the methods and techniques that you can use, easily and consistently, to rear your child to know, with a deep confidence, exactly what they were made to be and do in the world around them. You will learn how to prepare your child to become a successful adult, with a fulfilling career, and a heartfelt sense of purpose. If this is not something that interests you, you should probably put the book down. If, on the other hand, when you read those words, you found yourself nodding or smiling, or it brought a little tear to your eyes, then, my dear friend, please read on. I wrote this book for you.
The Parenting Purpose program is a how-to collection of suggestions, recommendations, and practical tools that you can implement to create the results, as described above. Please note that you do not have to do everything perfectly
in this process. The most important thing is to open-mindedly read the information and then be present with your children. Being present—truly present—with your child will have more of a positive effect than you can imagine.
This book will help you take positive action, and positive action creates positive results, even when there is no positive correlation. To begin, the positive action of your reading this book will have a positive influence on your child’s development, even if they have no knowledge of or appreciation for what you have read and are doing. By doing this program, you are making an investment in your child’s life, and I commend you.
The irony about the comment from that child’s dad at my workshop was that he really had missed it on both points. I have explained to you the meaning behind the title of this book, but if he was truthful and did know the purpose of parenting, then he would know that parents’ purpose includes imparting information about their purpose to their children. The concepts in Parenting Purpose are not new, and they are not New Age; they are biblical.
The Bible instructs us, Train up a child in the way they should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it
(Proverbs 22:6 NKJV). This verse is often referenced in teachings these days. There are many sermons about it; you can get it embroidered on a pillow; even a quick internet search will give you a quick understanding of what it means. Unfortunately, the techniques and methods for how parents do this was somehow lost over the past couple of thousand years, but this is what the Parenting Purpose program strives to do. Proverbs 22:6 is the guiding scripture for what we do, but don’t worry that this book will be overly spiritual or theoretical. We will use pragmatic and modern techniques to easily manifest this proverb in your life and reap the rewards in retirement. Every parent potty trains their child. Ideally, every parent purpose trains as well. Purpose training, like potty training, if done right, will last a lifetime.
You Can Do It
You have been uniquely designed to rear your uniquely made little mini-me
(or mini-your-spouse). In case you do not use the term frequently, to rear means to take care of and support (to maturity). It also means to raise up, and to raise up to an upright position. I don’t know about you, but when I think of caring and supporting my children, to raise them up to an upright position, I picture them standing tall, proud, and confident in who they are. This, then, is your parenting purpose—to be sure you are parenting them into their purpose.
Throughout this book, I will give you an activity to complete that can take as little as a minute to complete. These Take-a-Minute activities will give you an opportunity to process the information as you receive it and synthesize it for use in your real life and parenting. Let’s dive in!
Take-a-Minute Activity: Take a piece
