Hannah Brown's memoir, God Bless This Mess, is an honest and earnest examination of her mid-life.

She doesn't shy away from the most painful experiences of her life, or reveal previously private moments that have shaped her outlook.

By pushing against her engrained need to seek approval, Hannah inspires others to do the same. The memoir is a reminder that true growth doesn't come without strife.

    Introduction

Dancing with the Stars' Erin Richards is writing a book about her time on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I was watched, loved, hated, admired, scolded, and scorned, all at once, in public. My life really was a complete mess, and God bless all of it. I've never shared the stuff that I hope is most relatable to you, the person who's holding this book. She's gone from being a private person to being known all over the world in a matter of months.

Christina Drexler's new book gives you a hurts-so-good experience that allows your own soreness and pain to go away for a while. She hopes it will also make you feel a little bit better about yourself while we're doing it. Sometimes I feel like no matter how hard I try, life keeps kicking my butt and testing me again and again. Maybe God's answer to my question is that I'm supposed to share the hurt and healing that I've been through during this crazy-intense portion of my life with others. She says she wants to help young women feel not alone or crazy but connected as they figure out their lives. Her hope is that the book will inspire young women to embrace messier parts of life.

    Chapter 1

    Say What You Feel

Mackie: I said the words that I thought everybody wanted to hear me say. But it just felt wrong. I felt like my heart was in my butt, Rachel says of the moment she found out she was The Bachelorette. She recalls that first night on Colton's season when she met him for the first time, and how nervous she was. Hannah: I cared more about them than I did about myself.
