Dedication
this collection is dedicated to all those who I hurt, disappointed, betrayed, disrespected, insulted, analysed, judged, invalidated, frustrated, shamed, belittled, abandoned, and resisted…
and to those, the same, who I have sat with in loving attentive presence, inspired, encouraged, funded, held, shared, danced, explored, toasted, protected, provided for, employed, taught, healed and touched…
and to those, the same, who helped me over a long period of time to transcend the common life script to explore the actor, cease the act, discard the script and live real life as a real person –
many ‘things’ have happened to me and I have happened to many ‘things’ – forces that move, bounce, fall, roll, trap, release, recycle, break, repair, fade, surge, give, take, nurture, deplete, leave and return, all have meaning and value in the great scheme of things –
I give honour and gratitude to all people and experiences that offered the distinction between being and doing –
every page of this book is headed by a word ending in ‘ing’ with the poem limited to the number of lines on a single page…
you can decide which ‘ing’ poems are ‘doing’ and which are ‘being’ for me or you…
ultimately, this book is dedicated to all who read it and even those who don’t ~
Foreword
I sat in school and what did I learn?
Focus, discipline and teamwork.
Learned the message of do behave
–
Who to follow and what to fight,
When to stand up and when to surrender.
The hypnosis begins even before birth.
This is my spirit, my mind and my body
While all around the messages scream of who I am.
What to learn and how to earn
Suggestion, persuasion, order and pleading
Cutting me open then stopping the bleeding?
Moulding and shaping me to be a success.
To be happy, loved and lovable – important –
Protecting and caring for me, even lying for me.
The better it be, the harder to see
This robot – trying to break free.
I honour those who bashed me about,
Lifted me up and threw me out.
They shaped an escape route, I eventually found
And now I am out here safe and sound
Until the next one comes around.
In the reflection of the tranquil pool
I see a man wanting to leave much more than he takes –
How he does anything is how he does everything
And then paradox receives much from mistakes. ~

About The Author
chapter 1
one is small and yet so big
Ever since I was a child numbers have colours and feelings, temperatures and so on, but if I presented with any one of those, the others would come along. This made reading quite a challenge – especially something exciting. It was like a disco in my head with dancers stomping and pirouetting in my heart.
Number one, to me, is red and a loud major C. Blues music loves seventh chords because they are sad sounding while Delta Blues seems to favour the last closing chord as a major. I often wonder why.
accepting
I accept
that life is not as it should be
it is as it is – and that’s how it should be
I accept
that I shall probably never know
if I decided to come or was sent
to live this life with responsibility
for everything I do have and be
control over cause and effect – perhaps
I accept
the miracle that I have not yet died
with all my dangerous recklessness
and taste for deep adventure
taken to the heaven’s door
and reminded to awake
from sunlight sleeping and walking
to design a life – not earn a living
transcend the taking and switch to the giving
while enjoying a sensual human experience
I accept
the loving friendship and companionship
struggling for identity intimacy and integrity
in time to deliver a legacy of hope ~
activating
I activate
the process of my life
to engage with the freedom and the bliss
through the challenge of the mandelbrot mystery
and fibonacci’s everywhere numbers
walking light footsteps I make a path
like the notes of a five-line highway
I sing the tune of evolving melody
I activate
all those
who dance to my tune
adding harmony to build up my song
thinking dancing singing waking
the joy that it brings
when the chorus it sings
entrainment of mind and of heart
I activate
the inner
