Cricut for Beginners - Rachel McGregor
Introduction
Cricut Explore Air is a die-cutting machine by Cricut (aka craft plotter or cutting machine). It's similar to a printer in that you generate an image or design on your computer and then transmit it to the machine to print. Except the Cricut machine doesn't print your design; instead, it cuts it out of any material you desire! Paper, vinyl, fabric, craft foam, sticker paper, fake leather, and more can all be cut with the Cricut Explore Air! In fact, you can use your Cricut as a printer! You should insert a marker into an accessory slot on the machine and then the Cricut draw
your design for you. It's ideal for creating a beautiful handmade look if your handwriting isn't particularly good.
The Explore line of Cricut machines permits you to access a vast digital library of cartridges.
This implies you may use Cricut Design Space (the company's online design program) to convey any form or word from the library to your Cricut for cutting. You can even submit your own designs!
The Cricut Explore Air presents a tiny cutting blade positioned within the machine that can cut materials up to 12 inches wide. You charge the material onto a sticky pad and place it in the machine. While the Cricut blade cuts it, the mat keeps it in place. Then remove the mat from the machine and pull your product away from the adhesive mat.
Chapter 1 Cricut Machine
A Cricut is an electronic cutting machine that can cut various materials such as paper, card stock, vinyl, and iron-on transfers into various patterns. Even wood and leather can be cut with some Cricut machines!
The Cricut can cut almost anything that would normally be cut with scissors or an X-acto knife. However, it can cut with far more precision and speed than can be achieved by hand!

Die-cutter machines and craft plotters are terms used to describe devices like the Cricut. Silhouette Cameo and Brother ScanNCut are two more cutting machine brands.
The Cricut Maker 3, the Cricut Explore 3, and the Cricut Joy are available for the three varieties of Cricut machines.
The Cricut Explore 3 is the most popular and mid-level machine. The Cricut Maker 3 is an upgrade over the Explore 3 in that it can cut a broader range of materials and use additional tools. Finally, the Joy is a smaller model that is easy to transport, set up, and operate.
What Are Cricut Machines and How Do They Work?
A Cricut cutting machine is similar to a home printer, it cuts the design from a sheet of paper using a moveable, tiny blade (or other material.)
To start, use Cricut's design app or program to create a design. Then, transfer the design to the Cricut cutting machine via USB or Bluetooth. Next, the design is forwarded into the Cricut machine, which then cuts it out with a accurate, small blade.
How to operate a Cricut
1. Begin by placing your cutting material on the adhesive cutting mat. Next, place the mat in the machine and turn it on (the cutting mat keeps the material in place).
2. Next, open Cricut Design Space and select a design. Transmit the design to your Cricut cutting machine after selecting your material parameters.
3. To begin cutting, press the button on your Cricut machine.
4. Remove the mat from the machine and the material from the mat once the machine has finished cutting.
Different types of Cricut machines.
In the current Cricut range, there are five distinct cutting machines. Each has advantages and disadvantages.
Update for 2021:
Cricut added two new machines to its range in June 2021: the Cricut Maker 3 and the Cricut Explore 3. These machines will replace the Cricut Maker and Cricut Explore Air series machines from previous generations. The latest versions feature faster motors and can cut Cricut Smart Materials without a mat! This is a game changer!
(However, the Cricut Explore Air 2 and Cricut Maker are still wonderful machines, especially if you can locate them for a reasonable price.)
Cricut Explore Air 2 is a new machine from Cricut.
Cricut's best-selling machine is the Explore Air 2. It's a wonderful mid-level model that's suitable for both beginners and advanced crafters. It can cut over a hundred different materials, including paper, vinyl, cardboard, various types of leather, and stabilized fabric.
The Cricut Explore Air 2 can make full-size iron-on decals for T-shirts, big vinyl decals, and 3D paper creations with mats measuring 12 by 12 inches or 12 by 24 inches.
Cricut Explore 3 is a new product from Cricut.
Cricut's newest Explore series machine is the Cricut Explore 3. The Cricut Explore 3 can cut over 100 materials, including cardstock, vinyl, iron-on vinyl, glitter paper, and bonded fabric, much like its predecessor. In addition, it works with the Fine Point Blade, the Foil Transfer Tool, the Scoring Stylus, and the Deep-Point Blade, among other instruments.
What makes this model unique? The Cricut Explore 3 features a more powerful motor than the Cricut Explore Air 2 and can cut up to 2X quicker. In addition, it works with Smart Materials, allowing you to cut extremely long lengths (up to 12
