About this ebook

Everly Marta and her family lived in Oakwood, Canada for a reason, it was secluded and they could control who knew their secret. Their pack the Blood Moon Pack was established more than a century ago, right from the beginning they made sure they were self-sustaining so they didn’t need to ask for help from anyone. It also allowed them to fly under the radar, none of them wanted to be involved with all of the politics that were usually needed to be in the shifter world.
Laclann Thornegood had been tasked by the Chosen and the Senate to obtain something the Rogue’s had, after weeks he was no closer to getting into Diavolo’s lair than he was the first day he was given the mission. He knew he had to tell Orfeo and Quinn what was going on, but he got more than he bargained for when he returned to seek the powerful men.
Liam Grey had once been a warrior for the Chosen, but after the last battle he was involved in, Orfeo had saved his life by turning him into a Vampire. When his Sire Orfeo calls him into his office he finds a little more than expected.

    Prologue

    Drake, Colorado

Quinn watched Orfeo pace from one wall to the other of the office they now shared. It was large so there was plenty of room for both of them until this shit was finally over. It felt like this mess with finding out they were the Chosen to finding the prophecy to needing the Senate had taken years, really it had but Quinn was trying not to quibble. Everyone was on their way to Drake, Colorado where they were going to have both the Chosen and the Senate finally completed in one place. By then they would have the prophecy and be able to end the Rogues for the last time. Magical barriers were being moved and expanded in order to accommodate everyone that was expected to arrive in the next few months. Hell, Sol and Solie’s old compound alone was huge, so the land they were spreading into was deep in the mountains of Colorado. The Rogues may not know exactly where the compound was but there was no doubt they were searching. So far there had been several small squads of Rogues they had to ‘take care of.’

Too many questions and not enough answers, Orfeo snapped as Quinn chuckled.

Isn't that the way it goes these days? No one knows if we are coming or going, the only thing we do know is that we are wrong. And because of that, we are going to need to change a lot of our thinking. We need to find the key to the prophecy, Quinn said calmly, although inside he was not calm, he was coming apart, at the seams, everything was completely fucked up.

The two men looked at each other, and even though they were both thinking and feeling the same thing something didn't feel right, they just couldn’t put their fingers on it. Orfeo was not sure he could put the feeling into words to even explain it to his friend, it was weird. They had been feeling like this for weeks, and they could no longer ignore it.

Here is the only thing we do know. We have to find the rest of the Senate and the true prophecy, for which we need the key. Everything else is too fucked up to deal with right now, Orfeo said and as the words left his mouth, they didn’t make sense. There had to be more that needed to be done, the future was at stake as well, and they needed to figure out what exactly was going on.

My daughter… Quinn said with a frown. Hope, their daughter, was dying in the future, time and time again, that was not acceptable to him, and it was clouding a lot of issues, Quinn knew it, and he was still just not sure which way to go to address all these issues they just had to be tied together. It had been so easy in the past to make decisions, and suddenly everything was just fucked up.

Cami is dealing with that right now. Mak couldn’t tell us much, which means we can’t guess… Orfeo said slowly, trying to come to a solution, and move forward. Then his eyes widened, and Quinn knew the Vampire had come to the same conclusion as he had. Fuck. Something is wrong, something in the past changed when it wasn’t supposed to maybe, or something…

Quinn nodded slowly and tilted his head, Sol maybe Solie, we have several mythical creatures what if it has something to do with another one? Someone is messing with us; we know that I just don’t know anyone who can affect so many people at the same time.

The only other mythical creature I know of is a mermaid, I refuse to think we need to go to the ocean to seek out flipper to be on the Senate. There has to be someone/something else. Orfeo snapped.

So, the Senate member and the real prophecy? Those are some tall orders we need to fill, and we are running out of time to figure this whole thing out, Quinn said.

We need the key! If we find the key, we will be able to see what we are missing, Orfeo snapped, then suddenly there was a huge crash and thump noise that caused both Alpha’s to go on guard.

Quinn shifted into his huge wolf, he snarled and snapped at the office bathroom door where the noise was coming from. Orfeo had pulled his sharp silver daggers out of their holders and turned towards the door holding them up making it known he was ready to use them. Finally, after loud bumps and swearing from behind the wall, the door swung open quickly and it was filled with a large man who popped out of view and then showed up behind the two leaders laughing.

Whoa, back up Vampire, here is a dog treat for your friend and let me just take those little sticks from you, the man said smiling while throwing a bone a Quinn then grabbing the daggers out of Orfeo’s hands. I was in a hurry and missed the mark by a few feet, but since I was doing your bidding startling you is not my concern. However, you really shouldn’t threaten the hired help with weapons.

For the love of the Gods, Orfeo snapped and dropped his arms that had held the daggers. Quinn who was not so forgiving, he growled and lowered to his haunches like he was going to pounce on the man.

The tall gorgeous black-haired intruder whose hair was tied back in a leather band to show off his muscular neck and shoulders crossed his arms over his sculpted chest and sighed. Come on Quinn, whined a little, I was joking. The man was larger than life on a good day, and most men avoided him while women flocked to him. He was just that gorgeous and damned if the man didn’t know it.

Laclann Thornegood, you had better have good news, Orfeo snapped.

Dalton’s brother grinned and then said seriously, I have news, and it is important, though it is not all good.

Laclann was a Sidhe like his brother and he was very good at finding things, the leaders had sent him to find the ‘key’ they were looking for. They needed it to open the prophecy, and it had been weeks since they had sent Laclann to find information. Quin shifted and growled, it’s about damn time.

    Chapter One

She was being followed and she knew it, but she was also having fun playing along with the assholes who were trying to seem like they were not following her. She had thought of a few sadistic things to do in order to mess with them but, Everly Marta wanted to know why she was being followed though, and she would damned well have her answer. The two men were Rogues, and not the first pair to follow her over the last few weeks, she could smell them, but what they wanted was another matter. It could be a million things, like directions or a meeting with her Alpha, but Everly was not sure that was what they wanted. Everly was certain her family secret was out, and she needed to find out fast if that were the case, because after centuries of remaining hidden, if her family was ‘outted’ they needed to know immediately.

Unfortunately, her Alpha found out she was being followed before she could get any answers, and Everly was on her way to his office. She would much rather have dealt with this on her own, and the way she wanted to, but apparently that was not in the cards. However, Everly was confident that her Alpha would help her find the answers she was seeking.

As she turned the corner that led to her Alpha’s office she turned and shot paintballs at the two men, she smiled as they screamed and ran for the third time today. ‘Assholes,’ she thought with a smile as she walked the half block to the pack building where her pack hierarchy was centered. Everly had enlisted the children on the pack to improve their shooting skills and they had also been attacking the Rogues who dared to enter their territory. It was hilarious especially when her five-year-old nephew scored a shot right between one of the Rogues eyes the other day. Everly had to stop what she was doing during training just to take all the youngers to the Ice Cream shop and reward them, but it had been worth it to see how proud they all were.

Because she lived in a large pack Everly was a little surprised her Alpha heard about her situation, but then again, they were Rogues and they were tailing her the Lead Enforcer and a member of the Marta family, so then again it wasn’t really surprising since she was also their ‘secret weapon.’ However, most times it was Everly who handled situations like this so it didn’t bother the Alpha, hell if he dealt with all strangers wandering into their town the man would never get a damn thing done.

Everly, the secretary said dryly. The secretary had been Alpha Sampson’s ‘guard’ for decades, and the woman hated Everly. Hell, Everly had no idea why the woman was such a bitch, it was really rude, to be honest. She had never done a damn thing to the woman, well other than play a few practical jokes on her when Everly was a child, the keyword there was CHILD. Damn the woman needed to let shit go, her hair had grown back. You know the way, the woman continued barely looking up to acknowledge Everly, see once again just rude. Everly just couldn’t let it slide.

Are you bored Carolyn? Everly asked as she stopped at the desk and stared down at the older woman. Everly could not seem to help herself from poking at the woman every chance she got. Finally, the secretary looked at her with a cautious expression on her face. Carolyn even jumped a little when Everly place the paintball gun on the desk carefully and waited for her response.

Well, no, Carolyn muttered and moved some things around on her desk. I am just a little irritated you know, things have been busy around the pack the last week or so since the Rogues have shown up for you,
