About this ebook

Superheroes have battled their archenemies for years. Good verses Evil. As time slips by, Superheroes and Villians grow older and are forgotten. For those who live, they are sent to a retirement center. It is in a retirement center that the Patriot, who for years had fought for justice, is now living. He is approached by his archenemy Dandy. The Dandy has a tale of how the Government is to be taken over by radicals who want to make the United States into their own image. A radical conservative nation. Patriot does not trust Dandy and cannot believe the United States can be controlled by radicals. He is aware of the fighting in congress of the radical right and the radical left. It is too far fetched to believe. Dandy asks for his help as well as the help of the remaining Superheroes to save the country from a wild conspiracy. He reminds Patriot how they had put aside their differences to fight against the Nazi's in World War II. Patriot along with other Superheroes will be convinced to fight with the Villians against radicals. He will learn that he and Dandy share something in common that will leave him confused. The mission to defeat the domestic terriorist will be dangerous and at the age of the Superheroes and Villians, some will fall. If they fail, the country will be in turmoil.  A darkness will fall which will cause more trouble. They must work together to defeat this evil.

Heroes Time Forgot - RB Parkline

    Chapter I

Powerful waves crashed against the rocky coastline. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining, a cool breeze gently blowing. Jim Rivers sat alone on a bench staring at the ocean. He was lost in his thoughts watching the beautiful ocean, seeing the power of the water as the waves came crashing in. It was hypnotic watching the ocean. His thoughts wandered as he thought of growing old. He moved his fingers feeling the pain in his joints. Arthritis had set in to fingers that had been broken numerous times. He sighed heavily as he watched the ocean thinking how he had once been an admired, loved superhero. Now he was old and forgotten. No one remembered the Patriot. The Avengers, Justice League, were now admired.

He turned his head seeing the lovely green, gently rolling hills of the retirement center. His friends, fellow superheroes of years ago, were sitting quietly playing chess. Some were talking quietly on benches in the shade. Others walked through  beautiful landscaped gardens. He also saw his enemies, the villains. They also were sitting or walking around the grounds. He thought it odd how superheroes and villains lived together in the same retirement center. He and other superheroes pursued the vile villains as they committed crimes. He had lost friends in battles that occurred in bringing them to justice. He knew many of the villains had also been killed. Now because of legislation that he believed was too liberal. The villains, paroled, were allowed out of prison to live out their lives in comfort.

He remembered fighting in the war. It was so many years ago. He had been awarded medals for his bravery and courage. The Patriot had been loved by all people. The parades and admiration, he loved the attention. He knew it was wrong to be so vain. When the war ended he fought crime with the same energy he had in the war. Many of the men and women villains were brought to justice, by him and many of his friends who now resided in the retirement center. Now they were all forgotten.

Jim was lost in his thoughts when he heard It is a beautiful day.

He turned to see Dandy sitting on the bench. He frowned seeing the older distinguished man in an old silk top hat. His long coat with tails, the bow tie, starched white shirt, black pants, and patent leather shoes.  He had an old fashioned walking stick.

Go sit somewhere else Dandy, Jim said, turning his head to look out on the ocean.

Dandy smiled no need to be rude Jimbo. Thought you might want some company.

Jim turned to look at the old thief. Company? If I want company, you would be the last person I would choose to speak with.

Dandy did not answer, he looked out on the ocean seeing the tossing waves.  Jim looked away. Both men sat quietly looking out on the ocean feelling the warm sun and gentle breeze. Jim had almost forgotten his archenemy was sitting next to him when he heard Dandy say I need your help Jim.

Jim turned looking at Dandy You need a partner in the bocce ball tournament? The one you rig each year.

No, he said looking down. Both of his hands rested on the old walking stick. He looked up. It’s not like it was in the old days. There was a sense of pride in one's work. He smiled as he looked at Jim. Planning a job, sneaking past the security system. Taking the loot and getting away. One jump ahead of the law and the Patriot.

Jim did not speak as he watched the Dandy.

Now they go in, destroy the vault and half the bank. Including the money. Grab what they can and run. Blasting and shooting wildly as they make their getaway. No concern for innocent people, or even the security guards. Stealing people's personal identity on  computers. No consideration if the people are poor or rich. There was a time we stole from the very wealthy. He looked down, staring at the end of his cane. No style just, I don’t know, different.

People were killed by you and your gang's heist," JIm said, raising his voice.

You came in shooting first not caring who was in the building.  The Dandy countered, as he raised his voice the anger flashed in his eyes. He took a deep breath. Yes, and I regret the loss of life. It was unfortunate. You have a high morality don’t you Patriot! You hold the law in such high regard. It's okay if you bend it or even break it to get the villain. As long as you get the bad guy, the end justifies the means.

Jim shook his head as he looked away. You're a thief. A well dressed thief who I don’t trust. You lie as easily as people breathe.

You are right. I have made a good living lying, cheating, scheming others. But, Jim, I need your help. He hesitated as he saw him turn slightly looking at him. You know we did work together during the war. We made a good team.

Jim nodded remembering how he and the other superheroes fought with villains against the Nazi’s.  The villains were Americans, and they hated the Nazi’s, so they put aside their differences fighting together to defeat the evil that had sprung up in Germany. When the war ended the Villains went back to a life of crime, as the superheroes
