Kelly J Newson also known as Kelz was born in Harbor City, California but raised in Los Angeles. At the age of eight she had her first piece of poetry published and has been writing ever since. However, it wasn't until attending John C Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA that lead Kelz to write her first short story, 'Knights of Kenai' and shortly thereafter begin writing and putting together her first book 'Opening Wounds.' Though it wasn't until attending Rio Hondo College that she begin to take writing more seriously and share what she wrote. In fact it wasn't until meeting her former mentor and professor that she begin sharing her work and eventually building that confidence and gaining inspiration to want to share her work. Through this new found inspiration came the release of her debut play 'Making the Deal,' in November 2007 which got great feedback and while Kelz would love to continue in theatre and film she wanted to first make an imprint in the literary world. So she continued working on Opening Wounds thus releasing it in 2009. Kelz also designed the cover of Opening Wounds, showcasing not only her writing talents but her artistic talents as well. Shortly after the release of Opening Wounds Kelz met DJ Kelly J, a DJ in Las Vegas, Nevada who interviewed her on xradio.biz and Kelz also had „Cali Kids‟ from Opening Wounds featured on http://www.guysandgirlsonline.com Then in August 2009, Kelz begin writing new material for her next book and she released her second book Before the SunRises in May 2010. This time she showcased her talent in writing poetry, short stories and plays. The release of Before the Sunrises was Kelz way of jumping into the world of fiction and showing that she is more than just a poet but a fiction writer as well just like her predecessors Langston Hughes and Edgar Allan Poe. Unlike Opening Wounds, Before the SunRises was released in three different formats, hardcover, softcover and ebook giving readers no matter their preference of reading a choice. Someone to connect with on that friendship level

Just thank you God for this friendship, this beautiful soul you placed in my life

I hope to be more like her

For she inspires me daily

For she I hold dear to my heart

As I think in all situations what will she do?

This friendship I want to grow and last forever
