The Abode Of Affliction - M.Y. Hauger
Chapter 1
The man became even more depressed because of the rift between him and his son. He felt bad about having a short fuse with him, and he felt even worse about shutting him out. It broke his heart to think of how he was breaking the boy’s heart without giving him an explanation as to why he was treating him as he was. He missed the way things used to be. There was a time when they were very close, and he was the boy’s hero.
As time went on, the man felt more and more like he was losing control of his life and he didn’t know why. He felt like everything was falling apart and there was nothing he could do about it. He felt terrible each time he thought about how much he was hurting the boy, and he couldn’t even give him a reason for acting the way he was. It wasn’t that he wanted to break the boy’s heart. He wanted to protect him, even though he didn’t know what it was he was wanting to protect him from. He often felt like he was losing control of himself and everything around him, especially when he was around his son. Because of it, he feared the possibility of hurting his son, and he felt he was better off keeping his distance from him. The man didn’t want anything to happen to him.
There was no doubt that the man’s behavior was affecting the boy negatively. The boy was hurting because of his father’s actions, and it made it even worse for him whenever he would hear or see his father spending time with his siblings while he continued to be shut out by him. He didn’t understand why his father no longer wanted anything to do with him. The boy continued to try his best to be there for his father and his siblings and help them out as much as possible, even under difficult circumstances. It wasn’t easy for him since his father continued to ignore him, except for the times whenever the man would yell at him.
The boy wished his father would’ve given him an explanation. He wanted to know what it was that he had done wrong, so he could make it right. The boy apologized on several occasions, even though he didn’t know why he was apologizing. He just knew that he wanted his father to forgive him for whatever mistake he had made. The boy hoped that it was merely because his father was going through a rough time, and he also hoped that it would soon pass. He felt that it wasn’t a time for them to drift apart, and he wished that his father would also see that, so he would stop pushing him away as he constantly did. The boy hoped that his father would soon forgive him, so he wouldn’t shut him out anymore.
Chapter 2
As time went on, things got even worse for the boy. The man’s heart grew cold toward him, and he started to care less and less about the effects his behavior had on the boy. The man continued to shut the boy out, resulting in the boy feeling unloved by him. The man never gave the boy any reason for shutting him out. The man also continued to yell at the boy, and he kept blaming him for everything that went wrong. It didn’t matter what it was or whether the boy was at fault. The man would often twist it to make it seem like the boy was to blame. Unfortunately, the boy would often take the blame, even if it wasn’t his fault. He would apologize, even if he did nothing wrong, but the man was never satisfied. Instead, he’d yell at the boy, telling the boy to go to his room where he belonged.
Because of how his father was treating him, the boy was becoming more and more depressed with each day that went by. He was often a prisoner in his own room because that was where his father wanted him to be.
As time went on, the boy started keeping to himself more and more, so he could be left alone. He felt he was better off since his father wanted nothing to do with him and was constantly yelling at him whenever he wasn’t in his room. The boy didn’t like being isolated from the rest of the family, but he hated being mistreated even more. Because of how things were, the boy found himself missing his mother more and more. He knew without a doubt that if she was still there, things would’ve been different. Nevertheless, the boy had often been left alone in his misery, feeling as though nobody cared about him.
There was one, however, who cared deeply for him, and he was upset about the things that had been going on and how the boy was being treated. The boy had encountered this individual occasionally, but something often caused the boy to forget about him, causing him to feel like he was alone.
The individual who cared about the boy wanted to take him and raise him as his own, but the boy didn’t want to leave his family, regardless of how his father had been treating him. He still loved his father and he had hoped that things would get better, even though things looked hopeless at that moment.
Chapter 3
It was late in the night and the man was alone. He couldn’t sleep, so he felt that it was a good idea for him to get out of the house, so he could be by himself to try to clear his thoughts.
It was a clear night with the moon shining brightly and there was a cool breeze that went through him and sent chills running down his spine. He hoped that getting out of the house would help him to clear his mind, but it didn’t help him. He found a bench where he then sat down. The man looked up at the moonlit sky before he sighed, and then he cupped his hands to his face as he broke down and wept.
It wasn’t so long ago when everything was going great for him, but then, tragedy struck, and he felt like the whole world was falling apart. To make things worse, he and his son were drifting further and further apart.
The man continued to weep bitterly as he sat on the bench. He didn’t notice that he wasn’t the only one who was there. There was a woman who was close to his age who took notice of how hurt the man seemed to be. She looked at him for a moment before she walked toward him.
Are you alright?
she asked.
The man looked at her with tears running down his face.
Is there anything I can do to help you?
the woman asked.
No, there isn’t anything anyone can do.
the man said.
He then covered his face with his hands and the woman sat down beside him.
Is it anything you're wanting to talk about?
she asked.
No, it’s not. Please, just go. Leave me alone.
What if I refuse to leave?
the woman said.
The man just looked at her.
Look, I’m trying to reach out to you because I can see that you’re hurting. I don’t feel comfortable leaving you here alone.
the woman said.
What’s it to you?
the man asked.
The woman didn’t respond.
You don’t even know me.
the man said.
I may not know you on a personal level, but I know who you are. I’ve seen you around, and I’ve heard a lot about you. I also know about what happened.
the woman said.
The man had no response for her as he looked at her.
I’m very sorry.
the woman said.
I don’t want to talk about it.
the man said.
Maybe it would help to talk about it.
No, it won’t. Please, just go.
the man said.
No.
the woman said.
The man looked at her.
What?
he said.
I said no.
Why can’t you just leave me alone?
"Because I don’t want to leave you alone. You’re hurting and I want to
