    PROLOGUE

    A

few years ago, I went to a revival prayer meeting here in the Netherlands. A well-known, powerful, honorable, and eloquent anointed preacher had come to town! I was so excited about the gathering and had promised myself I wasn't going to miss out on it.

The meeting had started a little bit later than planned, but I wasn't bothered. I knew that this great man of God is in town meant that my life would be transformed in the name of Jesus. When the meeting started, my Christian sisters in the Lord and myself came with our hallelujah corner and jumped at every word this man of God spoke. We were also awed by the level and the command of the English Language he possessed.

I still remember the emotions and the feelings we had in that meeting.

Well, the next day, I just couldn't remember what he talked about after the meeting had ended. I realized I was only being moved by his high level of English grammar and eloquence of speech, the type I had never heard before this time, or even after. Oh, when he hit one note of grammatical accuracy, the congregation shook. However, I later realized that it wasn't the anointing. We were highly emotional and merely impressed by the command of the English Language he displayed.

Yes, we were blessed alright, and the atmosphere was remarkable. Nonetheless, I realized I still didn't get what the preacher's message was. I am saying that to say this. God wants us to walk in clarity and not in confusion. For a long time, many people have said, You must decree and declare God’s word. And we have gone along with it, which isn’t bad. However, we sometimes have results and sometimes didn’t. I insist we must not become a generation of I will fake it until I make it. This is not the will of God and must not be so.

    Let’s read James 1:5:

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

I wanted to have a truly biblical and judicial understanding and meaning of decrees and judgments. As I set myself on the journey to have accurate knowledge and understanding about this topic, through prayers and the ministry of the word of God, I am now able to exercise my authority as a believer in Christ Jesus.

Consequently, through this book - POWER OF IRREVOCABLE DECREE, I will be dissecting and explaining the meaning of ‘decrees’ for you to understand the concept thoroughly so that you can start walking in your God-ordained victory like never before. You will also receive an understanding of the Kingdom Law Enforcement process through the agency of the Holy Spirit and the final authority of the word of the Living God.

    INTRODUCTION

    A

s a believer in Christ Jesus, it is imperative for us to understand how to issue effective decrees. It is also most important to know what constitutes an effective decree.

To issue an effective decree is to let your word be in alignment with the word of God. And to see a consistent manifestation of the will of God, we need to soak ourselves in God’s word so that we can get saturated with His thoughts and embrace His vision. We need to seek understanding and the renewal of the mind. We should apply ourselves to the study and learning of the word of God, and thus, labor to gain revelation. In addition, we should daily submit our tongues to God, consciously and deliberately. Finally, we should always speak by faith, not by sight. And along this line, we must pray in the Spirit to gain spiritual sensitivity or become sensitive to the move of the Holy Spirit.

The early church clearly understood the importance of prayers, issuing effective decrees, and the ministry of the word of God. Regrettably, many believers today neglect the significance of the place of prayer and the ministry of the word of God. Consequently, they get into many havocs and ministerial hazards in the hands of the enemy.

My Lord Jesus Christ taught and prepared His disciples very well in advance for the work, both for the harvest of souls, as well as the persecutions that followed. In other words, Jesus Christ Prepared the church for both the ministry of reconciliation and conflict, which I will be expanding on later in this book. Therefore, the apostles were prepared and consequently engaged in the ministry of conflict through their obedience, prayers, and holding fast to God's word.

We can only understand what righteous and unrighteous/satanic decrees are as we engage in the ministry of the word of God and learn how they operate and affect individuals, communities, and the nations at large. Jesus Christ had said something quite interesting, which is vital to the Kingdom's advancement. This truth is in Luke Chapter 24:49:

Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you, but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.

Jesus had given the command to the Apostles through the Holy Spirit and admonished them to wait for the Promise, the Holy Spirit.

We need to understand why Jesus gave that command to His Apostles. Jesus knew how vicious the powers of darkness can be and how the accusers of the brethren would want to enforce unrighteous/satanic decrees against them. Jesus also knew that the Apostles would need boldness, discernment, and the display of the raw power of God to execute their assignment and to remain vigorous and persistent in prayers when crisis arose, as it happened in Acts Chapter 12.

Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, the Apostles enjoyed many favors and victories in the face of opposition. Likewise, we must engage in the ministry of prayer and the word of God as we submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit to enable us to execute our own divine assignments.

As we go into the word of God, prayerfully study along with me. You will receive insight from the word of God; I am sure you will recognize situations and circumstances where you will need victories to manifest in your life. Henceforth, when you decree a thing, it shall be established unto you like never before, in the name of Jesus.

‘’Like the early Apostles, we must unapologetically occupy our places on the battlefield and in the throne room until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We must learn to master the act and the audacity of righteous decrees by identifying unrighteous decrees through the ministry of prayer and the word of God.’’

    CHAPTER ONE

    Authority And Kingdom Law Enforcement

    A

clear understanding of the difference between ‘judgments’ and ‘decrees will help us know, appreciate, and comprehend the power of decrees in the life of a believer. As you read this book, you will understand, discern, and differentiate between decrees, curses, and judgments.

Throughout the Bible – in both Old and New Testaments, you will find and read the laws of God, which liberates. On the other hand, human laws keep people in bondage and lay heavy yokes upon them. As we have noted, God’s laws are the complete opposite of the laws and traditions of men, which blinds and binds.

Before I continue with helping you to understand the power of decrees, as demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ in His encounter with the fruitless fig tree, I want us to, first of all, meditate on the laws of God in the book of Psalm.

    Psalm 19:7-14:

The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes. The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them, there is great reward. Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.

Isn’t the above scripture wonderful? Now, what is the difference between Decree and Judgment?

Earthly Law implies the system of rules and regulations based on different justice, fairness, and equality principles to govern human activities. Therefore, in law, a ‘decree’ implies the legal and formal order, which specifies the rights and obligations of the parties concerned. On the other hand, a ‘judgment’ refers to the decision taken by the judge on the premise of order or decree.

A decree declares the consequences of the suit and explicitly determines the rights and liabilities of the parties.

    Essential Elements of a Decree

    Formal Expression of Adjudication.

Here, adjudication refers to the judicial determination of a suit on matters of controversy, conclusively ascertaining parties' rights to a case.

Rights are to be determined concerning all or any of the matters in the dispute in the suit.

Adjudication has to be given in the suit.

A decree is a conclusion on which the judge arrives through reasoning after hearing the parties concerned, i.e., the plaintiff and defendant, on the merits and stating the same in writing. In simple words, a decree constitutes the final part of the judgment and is drawn out from the judgment made. It carries the essential details and the result thereon.

While a decree can be appealed against (appealable), a judgment cannot be appealed against. It’s not appealable.

Let’s look at Esther 7:3, where the Queen appealed to the king.

Then Queen Esther answered and said, If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request."

The judgment was still standing. But Queen Esther did not stop her intercession, even though Haman was dead. The ‘Day of Judgment’ still awaited the Jews.

Esther 8:3 – (The decree was still in effect.)

Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract the evil of Haman the Agagite and the scheme which he had devised against the Jews.

In Esther Chapter 8:8, we see an irrevocable decree in operation. It is a decree which is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring may not be revoked.

Now, Esther 8:5 shows how an unrighteous/satanic decree could be overruled – Overruling unrighteous/satanic decrees.

Here are Esther’s actual words to the king:

…and said, If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight and the thing seems right to the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to annihilate the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces."

In Christ, every unrighteous or satanic decree is appealable in the courts of heaven. We see this in operation, according to the tone of Esther 9:1. Esther had approached the king (the courtroom of heaven) and obtained the king's favor. Consequently, the desire of the enemy was overruled on the day the Jews’ extermination should have taken place.

"Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day, the time came for the king’s command and his decree to be executed. On the day that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, the opposite occurred, in that the Jews themselves overpowered those who hated them." (Esther 9:1) [Emphasis mine]

Execution means the enforcement of a decree issued by a king or issued by an individual a king has authorized to publish the decree in his name. A decree can be executed in two ways, either by the court, which passed the judgment or, by another court or legal institution to which the decree has been sent for the purpose of execution.

On the other hand, a judgment is not executed on the date on which it is given. A date is usually fixed for the purpose of executing a decree (a decree is a command, an order), as we have noted in Esther Chapter 9 verse 1.

    Judgment

A judgment is basically the decision given by a court or a tribunal concerning the case and specifies the rights and liabilities of the parties involved. It is the ultimate result of the court case, which often resolves the dispute and terminates the entire suit. A judgment specifies the party who has won the case and the remedies conferred to the winning party.

    Essential Elements of a Judgment

A concise statement of the case

    Points of determination

    Decision

    Reasons for the decision

A decree cannot be enforced without a judgment in place. In other to overrule a decree issued against individuals, families, communities, organizations, or even a nation, the source of the judgment must be prayerfully discerned to know or understand whether or not that decree concerned is revocable or irrevocable.
