About this ebook

Life is full of untold stories. A perfect life is suddenly thrown into a ditch and the question that ensued is: ‘How did we get here’? In Talitha Cumi: Near death, Pastor King and First Lady Cecilia Tetteh recounts how tares were sown in their beautiful lives, leading to the near death of Cecilia and how God gave her a chance to life. The account in this book though riveting, is not meant to exalt any man but to give glory to the Heavenly Father and teach Christians on the benefits of totally depending on God. ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV). A call unto God is prayer. It is not just the muttering of words; but a spiritual communication with a father who loves and care for his own. It is our prayer that this book will change a destiny and make a believer more dedicated to the things of God. Lessons in this book include endurance, faith, love, testimonies, wisdom, victory, miracles, signs and wonders. A family without love can be shattered by an adversity beyond description. We breathe life because God answered us. This is the first of a two series book based on a true story about deliverance from the spirit of envy and jealousy. The book showcases an unexpected tragedy, diagnosis, loss and great disappointment, burden and unimaginable tiredness which drew a family closer to God. The book is a memorial in honor of great appreciation for God Almighty and showcases His awesomeness for His children.

    FOREWORD

L ife has never been fair, but it is good. One would question why bad things happen to good people. It is a mystery that has always puzzled Christians. Considering all the promises of salvation, healing, and deliverance, especially under the New Covenant and the prosperity slant of today’s gospel message, bad things happening to God’s people is not traditionally part of our belief system. After all, the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Christ came that we would have life and more abundantly. Pastor King exercised faith in Jesus Christ, and this took away all fears, even the fear of a near death situation. It is in the hope of this abundant life that we make positive, faith-based confessions, believing that no ill can or would befall us in Christ. While our confession has its place, we conveniently ignore the fact that Paul had a thorn in his flesh that God refused to remove, Timothy had frequent ailments and stomach issues, and Epaphroditus was so sick at one point that he nearly died.

Though we talk little about these unpleasant facts that seem to contradict our faith, it is undeniable that these occurred under the New Covenant to a people bought with a price and redeemed by the precious blood of the lamb. Yet when we experience such unpleasant situations, we question and wonder how bad things can happen to good people under the New Covenant. We ask the question no one ever seems to get an answer for: Why me? The richest and wisest man who ever lived noted that in the day of prosperity, be joyful, and in the day of adversity, consider God has made the one as well as the other so that man may not find out anything that will be after him. (Ecclesiastes 7:14, English Standard Version). Irrespective of the covenant under which you live, the day of adversity will come.

King Solomon assures in Ecclesiastes that there is a time and season for everything under the sun, a day of prosperity and a day of adversity. Adversity comes to different people in different forms and usually, has nothing to do with a person’s faith in or faithfulness to God. In Paul’s ministry, the troubles he and his companion experienced in Asia made him despair. Recounting in his own words, We were under great pressure far beyond our ability to endure so that we despaired of life itself. (2 Corinthians 1:8 New International Version,).

The great apostle could not endure what he went through. He wished death for himself. That is how serious it can get. The finest and the most faithful to God also experience adversity. Adversity comes in different measures. Sometimes it is mild, other times it could be life-threatening. No matter how unpleasant it may be, adversity is not meant to shake our faith, but to prove it. The beautiful life of Lady Cecilia and her husband, Pastor King, took a sudden and unanticipated turn when she was unexpectedly attacked by a patient unprovoked, while on duty at work. What looked like a mere attack by a mentally disturbed patient, in the physical realm, was a satanic orchestration designed to trigger a severe medical condition. Just overnight, the bright future of the power couple had turned into a nightmare as Lady Cecilia battling for her life.

Why God would permit a couple faithfully serving him and advancing in their respective careers to suffer such emotional, mental, and physical trauma is a question that remains unanswered. Where were the guardian angels? How could a weapon fashioned against a believer prosper? What about By his stripes we were healed? Why would the recovery be slow and painful? These are but some of the many questions that may remain unanswered. However, in this book, Lady Cecilia attempts to take you on her journey from prosperity through affliction to recovery. She details the complex emotions, mental torture, and physical pain she had to endure daily on the road to recovery, as she hung on to her faith with every breath, trusting God to restore her completely.

In the Mark account of "Talitha Cumi", Jairus’ daughter had died. Jesus Christ assured him not to be afraid, but only believe. In the midst of hopelessness and death staring at Lady Cecilia, pastor King believed in Jesus Christ, the Jehovah Rapha and fully depended on his word to move the mountain in front of them through faith. Talitha Cumi in the Syriac language is interpreted, damsel, I say unto thee, arise. Talitha means damsel and Cumi means arise. In her unconscious state, Lady Cecilia arose from a near death situation because the name of Jesus Christ brings spiritual life to any dead situation and there is power in words. Lady Cecilia also recounts the invaluable support a praying and loving husband and family affords, in times of affliction. After I got a call from Pastor King, requesting prayer for his wife
