Preparation for Revival - Kenneth Flynn

    Introduction

Let me share with you why I feel that God instructed me to write this book. So many times, we hear about revival meetings and great and incredible moves of God. We witness healings, miracles, signs, and wonders. Let us look into the reality of revivals. It is easy to have a weekend and or week-long revival. Sometimes we have even seen revivals last for three months. Then the reality sets in; people get tired and the revival comes to an end.

Many years ago, as a child, I saw an evangelist speaking at TBN down in Seattle, Washington. The evangelist’s name was R. W. Schamback, and wow, could he preach. He was full of fire, and the evidence of God’s anointing was all over his life. When he prayed, miracles would happen as so many were blessed. He held tent revivals and powerful camp meetings. Not only was the power of God evident, but also God’s sweet presence manifesting as Shekinah glory fell upon God’s people. But was it an ongoing revival? Absolutely not. Shambach’s anointing was as an evangelist to stir up and set the people free. He wasn’t a pastor; he was an evangelist approved by God to bring the gospel that brought salvation and healing to people. He wasn’t there to shepherd a flock. He was chosen to stir up and get people excited about Jesus so they could find their first love again.

Another amazing powerhouse preacher was Smith Witherspoon. He was anointed and chosen by God as well, to bring salvation, cast out demons, and heal the sick. His way of doing things was so much different that as he preached the Word, God brought such great conviction that people would be holding on to the legs of the chairs in fear that they were going to hell. He was also able, through the power of Jesus, to bring people that were dead back to life. Here is one testimony: a baby had died and they brought the dead baby to him. A normal response would be to pray and ask God to bring life back into this child. As for Witherspoon. that was for sure not the case, as he took the dead baby and threw her against the wall and kicked her across the room as she came back to life because of Jesus. His comment on why he did it that way was to kick the demon of death off her.

We can go on and on about testimonies and talk about revivals of the past, but the fact is we need to understand what revival is and what it is all about. The reason for a revival is to awaken something that is dead that must be revived. So many in the churches today have lost passion for Jesus. The everyday joy of serving God to the fullest has fallen to the wayside, as it is no longer important to so many. It saddens me to say that so many were so on fire and now have no joy or peace because of the compromising that they have done to allow a religious walk with no passion or fire come into effect. Is this the future for a generational church? Will this be a life where the church has no voice or power to move in the Kingdom of God? No, it is not; we must be in preparation mode for revival.

A revival is effective and creative where man has nothing else to do but to acknowledge the power of God. It is truly the Lord wanting to move in such a way that will bring life-changing encounters, kingdom anointings, and a love that will melt away the burdens and walls so hearts will be transformed into compassion for Christ once again. This is all possible when the saints choose to submit to God’s will. Revival will never build men’s empires, or mega churches that teach prosperity with watered down, powerless gospels. But it will come when the saints of God are unified through the power of the Holy Spirit to change cities and nations. A Gospel that restores what was turned to evil and corrupted, where foundations were tarnished and turned back to holiness. Are you excited to be a great part of preparation for the revival? Just being able to understand the real importance of a true revival that is Spirit-lead that brings such a fulfillment to your life that the world cannot do, but only Jesus.

This is why God placed it on my heart to write a book that encourages the body of Christ to get ready and not to give up, because revival glory is on the way. The best is yet to come.

    Chapter 1:

    Getting Ready

    for Revival

On March 23, 2020, at 5:30 Governor Inslee of Washington State called a quarantine of two weeks as the coronavirus was sweeping through America, Italy, Philippines, Korea, Brazil, and other countries. This was shown to be a time of fear coming upon not just people living in the world, but on Christians as well. I was shocked by the number of believers that were walking in fear and even crying out to God to send the Rapture. As I heard this, and also saw it posted on Facebook and other social media, my heart was troubled. A question came to my heart: where is the remnant that is bold and full of faith? It says in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Thank God that the Lord gave us this wonderful ability to walk in a world with the ability to be free of fear. No matter how hard it gets, we are fearless through the power of the name of Jesus. So if we are fear-free where is the church in such dark times as these? The Bible says in Luke 10:19, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." We are the remnant of God that walks in God’s power, fearless, ready to conquer and ready to break through the blockages and cross over the pitfalls of life. This is God’s perfect will
