Soul Cried - Fiona Porch
Introduction
Born in Sydney, Australia on the 12th of July 1982, at the young age of 8 months I was diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism. So rare that at the time of my birth it was believed I was the only one in Australia with my particular condition. Growing up, I faced many obstacles but continuously aimed to see the positive side of things. With a smile on my face I always endeavour to display my emotions in such a way as to constantly be a positive light to others.
My way of coping came naturally to me during my early teenage years through the discovery of being able to communicate my deepest emotions through poetry. At first it was the only way I knew of, or felt comfortable in letting out my emotions of struggle and pain without ever burdening anyone in my life. Eventually I came to realise that it was such a blessing. As it became a way for me to express various emotions of love and happiness too. Within these poems lies my emotional journey through aspects of my life and act as a vessel for my thoughts and a window into my soul.
I hope that by baring my soul with you all it encourages each and every one of you to know that determination and self belief can push you to achieve amazing things in this life! Allow yourself to feel and relate to the words on these pages in however they may speak to you in your own life experiences. If you would like to get to know more about me and my detailed story leading into these emotions, you can grab a copy of my personal autobiography called Me, Kniest & Understanding

And I’m wondering what they see.
As I enter a shop,
A hundred people stop.
Still wondering why they look
At every step they took.
My legs may not be straight,
But then we’re all taught not to hate.
I may not look the same as you,
But then remember: no others do.
So what if I don’t look the same?
You’re forgetting that I have a brain.
Why does the cruel exterior
Make you dismiss my
