ONE DOSE TOO MANY
Kelly Summers hated her life. Hated work, hated having to study nights just to get by in her degree. Hated the fact that she was still living at home with her parents, when all her friends from sixth form had left for bigger and better parts of the U.K. They sent her pictures all the time, of sunshine whilst Kelly was stuck in dreary, old Stoke, her mind numbing with each grey day that passed.
It was one such day that she was trudging her way home, thoughts of her mum’s words that morning coming to the fore of her mind. Her mum, who never shied away from pointing out another one of Kelly’s countless flaws.
You never ever do anything for yourself,
her mum had said, wringing her hands on a towel after washing the breakfast dishes. You’re always miserable.
