About this ebook

This book will inspire you as you take a journey with Nancy through her many divine appointments with God. The Holy Spirit teaches her (over a period of fifty-three years) to cooperate with and to follow His leadings. As Nancy is being natural, submitting herself to the Holy Spirit, God performs the supernatural when she listens to Him, releases all to Him, and cooperates with His directions and instructions. The Lord told her in 1977 that divine appointments were for the power and creativity of God working in and through the spirit-baptized life for His purposes. On Nancy’s journey, you will hear about many miracles manifested in and through her life for the benefit of others.

    INTRODUCTION

FAITH THROUGH THE EYES OF A BELIEVER

It was April 1977, when I was baptized with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues, as the Holy Spirit gave the utterance. Oh, that is not the year that I became born-again, when old things were passed away and I became new. No! I was born again nine years previously to that time, and I had never before heard of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Then in 1976, I met up with a group of believers, women from all denominations, who were meeting together to study God’s Word. They had a joy and an inner strength and power that I desired and came to understand as the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. I also came to understand that that Baptism was for the purpose of being a witness for Jesus; for Him to be able to express Himself and His life in and through the believer…to be able to glorify God by allowing Him to minister through that believer to others. Those women I had been meeting with had individually received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Then I in 1977, received the Holy Spirit, to the full and overflowing.

After receiving the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, I was so hungry for more. I saturated myself with scripture, Christian tapes, church services, Christian gatherings and fellowship. It seemed I could not get enough spiritual input. I wanted more and more of Jesus…the written, and the living word. As I drew near to Him in His word, I was receiving incite, revelation knowledge, and wisdom that I had never before received, believed or understood. My faith was developing like a muscle because of my relationship with Jesus, the Word, and my Father God. I was becoming more and more intimate with my Lord Jesus Christ, via my helper and friend the Holy Spirit, continually enlightening the eyes of my understanding, as I yielded to Him.

Then, in the winter of 1979, I entered graduate school in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I drove 1 1/2 hrs (one-way) from my home in Indiana to attend classes. It was there that I began to experience manifestations of God’s power as I went about my daily routine and activities. Scripture says in James 4:8…

(James 4:8) Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. (NKJV)

    *

The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, The closer you come to Him, the more He allows you to see!

    *

Because it was so painful to leave my young family twice a week in the afternoon and evening, for more than two years, to complete my masters degree, I submitted it all to my father God, and He then began to lift me up.

    *

(James 4:7)…submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (NKJV)

(James 4:10) Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (NKJV)

(Psalm 3:3) For You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. (NKJV)

    *

It was by faith that I knew I was to go to graduate school, at that time in my life. My husband and I were in agreement regarding it. And yet, I did not want to leave my 11-year-old son and my 13-year old daughter…I wanted to be home when they got home from school; I wanted to be there and available for them, if they needed me for anything, during those formidable years of their young lives. It was a bitterly painful time in my life. I prayed, Lord, I don’t want to leave the children twice a week, afternoon and evening. I don’t know anyone in Kalamazoo. I have to leave my friends and I have to spend my time studying when at home! I haven’t been in school for 14 years! I release this all to you and I choose to trust you, to lean upon and to rely upon you. Please help me to accept this and help me through to the end.

    It says in Hebrews 10:35-39…

(Hebrews 10:35-39) (vs.35) Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. (vs.36) For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: (vs.37) For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. (vs.38) Now the just shall live by faith: But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him. (vs.39) But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul." (NKJV)

The Amplified Bible says it like this…

(Hebrews 10:35-39) (vs.35) Do not, therefore, fling away your [fearless] confidence, for it has a glorious and great reward. (vs.36) For you have need of steadfast patient endurance [to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising] so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised. (vs.37) For YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. (vs.38) BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE [the one justified by faith] SHALL LIVE BY FAITH [respecting man’s relationship to God and trusting Him]; AND IF HE DRAWS BACK [shrinking in fear], MY SOUL HAS NO DELIGHT IN HIM. (vs.39) But our way is not that of those who shrink back to destruction, but [we are] of those who believe [relying on God through faith in Jesus Christ, the Messiah] and by this confident faith preserve the soul." (AMP)

It was a choice that I made…for the Lord to change my soul (my mind, my will and my emotions), so that I could endure the time to complete my masters degree, by His grace, (through His strength and power). By faith, because my husband and I were in agreement, I believed my appointment in graduate school was of God. Little did I realize how wonderfully the Lord Jesus and my Father God would meet me at my point of need. Scriptures that I clung to during that time were:

    *

(Hebrews 11:6) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV)

(Hebrews 10:8) By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out not knowing where he was going. (NKJV)

For it says in….(James 2:22-24) (vs.22) You see that [his] Faith was working together with his works, his faith was completed [reaching its maturity when he expressed his faith through obedience]. (vs.23) And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND THIS [faith] WAS CREDITED TO HIM [by God] AS CONFORMITY TO HIS WILL, and he was called the friend of God. (vs.24) You see that a man, (believer) Is justified by works and not by faith alone [that is, by acts of obedience a born-again believer reveals his faith].(AMP)

What began as a bitterly painful time soon became sweet, as the manifestations of His presence, His divine appointments, and miraculous events started to take place in and through my life. I was being shown the faithfulness of God, His love and His manifested power. And the wonderful awesome experiences, that began in Kalamazoo that year in 1979, have continued to take place in and through my life ever since. It is these wonderful awesome experiences that are a reflection of Christ’s love for me and for others working in me and through me to others, which is
