The Art of Developing Fans for Life: Circle of Competence Discussion Topics
()
About this ebook
Music Business Management in this book begins in early childhood memory when God, music and the English Language are just starting to make sense. Sentence structure and definitions are years away yet words still have meaning, sounds still have a purpose while schedules and existence begin to formulate. In my young adult years my focus shifted from thinking as a musician to thinking as an engineer. For some reason my mind was learning to trust God to work out the details and work towards a career in the music business.
The Art of Developing Fans For Life describes real life events of how recording artists communicate. What are the components & music performance data involved in the music business? Can we visualize the how the masters of the industry build their business? There is referenced material from professional resources.

A recording engineer is responsible for helping the recording artist transfer music to a listening audience. The importance of career benchmarks can only add value if the listening audience is generally accepting the product your working on. Recording techniques and examples in the book are reviewed as a Multi-Platinum and Gold recording engineer. This book is a literary tool to help bridge the gap of making a living working in the music business. Getting paid for working is a plus and learning to manage the experience is what my literary efforts are about.
Upward Communication, locating a circle of competence and applying industry standard approaches to small business through creating tangible literary support in the field of engineering helps to move the subject to another level. Also the tangible asset is based on real life experiences from two generations ago to future generations from now. Creative writing skills in the academic field endeavor to create viable income as a writer. As earlier stated the language of an infant can make a heart grow fonder. The language of someone learning to appreciate the recording techniques shown by masters is part of the formula to achieve great sounding records.
Big VU meters on the compressors and Big VU Meters on the recording consoles shape the context of learning to trust the people you work with. As an individual my efforts work towards being as my grandfather was a first class citizen. My digital world is always improving and family always encourages me to work towards my goals and objectives. Adding value through work experience can be thought of as establishing employment opportunities of tomorrow. Learning to become an entrepreneur stepping on the academic references that this book has successfully gained.
Each topic of discussion focuses on transferring sound recordings into a marketable asset that will enhance my future employment opportunities. Chapters 1 through 9 introduce new concepts in the Music Business as well as use original text.
1. Integrating with Customer Service
2. Build your knowledge base for a future reference
3. Interact with the Online Glossary
4. Invest into Copyrights
5. Market your skills
6. Develop new Products and Services
Design the small business to work closely with major corporations. Large companies like Berkshire Hathaway and Guitar Center become good neighbors. Although their business models are different they are fulfilling a service and generating employment opportunities.
Employment and working at home or at the office
A mobile work environment is subjective and necessary. Transportation of sound recordings becomes new again based on real life
David Nottingham
Born in Virginia in the 60’s David began listening to Rock and Gospel at an early age. By the age of 14 he learned to be behind the glass when his father and grandfather built a sound proof recording studio in their home in California. From there he would work at a Hospital, an insurance agency, an elderly home and then the recording studios. Good customer service has always been a philosophy for David. With 11 Multi-Platinum and Gold records certified by the Recording Industry Association of America this literary effort is the first review of David’s work experience.

Synopsis
Rhetoric or effective communication as outlined in the book can be made into a tangible or intangible asset in the field of recording engineering. A synthesis work group, such as a band performing a derivative work, includes the synopsis. When you record audio, you create a platform of intellectual property (IP). The book describes various uses of transforming the IP or artistic property into an asset. Also this book works to build a literary foundation¹ for enabling discussion of copyright domain and the ability to chart efforts that create value in developing a marketable sound recording. Future employment opportunities could translate into initial public offerings or forming a limited liability company (LLC) with investors.
Ernst and Young LLP (www.ey.com) and Weintraub Law Firm have opened the door to their companies to allow the combined interest of conversation without disclosing the portfolio of companies that they represent. Reputations have led to an outlook of retained earnings and financial communications.²
A recording engineer can only market their skills when the artist promotes the album. This literary work is designed to open new opportunities to market the skills of a recording engineer and perhaps to help them learn to enhance the current marketplace.
Each subject listed below is an academic approach to developing keywords to be considered when evaluating the index for directives.
■ Effective communication
■ Skill and discography
■ Marketing
■ Real-life experience
■ Software/hardware development
■ The audience/music fan
www.dogtagrecords.biz has created an online portal to distribute a tangible knowledge base related to nurturing the field of recording engineering from an individual perspective. An online glossary will work toward the information worker
and the investor.
Music fans communicate with the artist in various forms (i.e., buying merchandise and supporting the artist’s career). David’s approach to preproduction is to open the marketplace to include more music fans becoming investors into the project before the release of the album. Upon release of the album, the band and the music fan can create a return on the investment. This work area is the secondary subject matter of the software/hardware development.
The momentum of this topic could develop into shareholders should a particular intellectual property become a corporation. Businesses, such as Disney, have already worked to capture the young audiences (two years old to sixteen years old and so on). An idea that is discussed in the book is to develop music that lasts for generations. Examples include, but not limited to, The Lion King, There’s Something about Mary, and Mulan.
When you are in the business of engineering entertainment, all aspects of a media production should be the focus of financial and musical analysis. The book describes ways and means to further develop the examination process (from a music-fan perspective to a recording engineer’s perspective). To enhance the reader’s perspective of this, the reader is also encouraged to read The Art of Mixing published by Mix Books and written by David Gibson (David Nottingham’s instructor).
The Art of Developing Fans for Life is the process of designing a piece of music that will generate a lifetime of music fans. Also the book has developed a theory of investing into music. Every songwriter is encouraged to create a world of investment opportunities to further their career. At this point the book discusses ways and means to create effective communication skills. The research and development of the book has located key literary works to further design the theory of expanding the marketplace for the recording engineer/music fan.

Preface
Every great story begins with a place in time. This book begins in early childhood memory when music and English language are just beginning to make sense. Sentence structure and definitions are years away; yet words still have meaning, sounds still have meaning, and schedules and purpose are beginning to formulate.
Each project builds upon itself, walking, running, playing, talking, communicating, and learning that develop into characteristics. Industries working together to design the future are now able to look back. Business workflow cycles and tricycles have strategically and successfully begun to work together.
Learning names of basic nouns, compositions, electrical properties, acoustical elements, and binary numbers have developed into a measurable unit of time. Flying Fader touches, and piano performances create the core relationship of orchestral bonding to a magnetic relationship.
Signal to noise ratios and mathematical learning curves are available in a visual
or aspect
form to translate into a factor
during real-time
mode. Virtual business models can move and communicate with a portal domain. Language integration and sheet music provide template work environments from which to develop.
Both music and construction bond into one type of industry to define performance and create a business model unit. Earning per unit (EPU) and earnings per share (EPS) are now shaping into a battleship in a storm.⁴ English composition teachings and knowledge databases are strategically developed into a return on investment (ROI) theory and fact.
Conceptualizing and theorizing to develop a business model mission controller⁵ have ultimately reached its supply-and-demand evolution of implementation. Products with default settings (such as Cubase and Nuendo) have the ability to manipulate information and are from an entrepreneur’s perspective earning a return on investment.
CHAPTER 1
Financial Harmony
Developing music should always be the best blend of financial harmony. www.dogtagrecords.biz has prepared a work environment that is ideal for major labels, bands, and solo recording artists throughout the world. Measurements of artistic property have yet to develop into charts and graphs. Tracking an idea with impact has been discussed with a book entitled Harvard Business Review on Effective Communication. There will be three examples from the Harvard University book. The three areas discuss the skill, the constructive-originative perspective, and the climate of approval.
In the academic world we can engage into not only a valuable knowledge base but also a community asset. There is an opportunity here that presents itself as useful and important for the subject of management. People that harness education have the ability to coordinate and implement tools and places to learn about business management. There are several premier universities, and it is important to acknowledge one in particular. This university has developed a unique business model and is attracting individuals that have laser beam focus on developing literary works on business theory and providing a tangible asset to the general public at large.
Claremont University in Claremont, California, has received support from Dog Tag Records in hopes that the tangible transfer plants a seed of hope to encourage the academic world to think and ponder on the thoughts that are printed on these pages. Additionally, this literary work will focus on preparing copyrighted works on investing into a specific artistic property. The main basis of my investment observation was enhanced with information that leads to the Claremont University. The masters of business administration (MBA) programs shed light on the subject of tangible assets.
This work environment prepares the platform from which to add layers to—layers of tangible assets.
Basically this outline is designing a unit of measurement:
◆ A portfolio
Information between the speakers:
1. Management’s discussion and analysis
2. The reproduction right (section 106 of the Copyright Act)
3. Digital music strategy
◆ Intrinsic details
◆ Copyrights
◆ Information workers: warehouse of intangible assets
◆ Licensing
◆ Equipment (playback and recall)
◆ Radio-frequency identification (RFID)
Other work environments⁶ to be reviewed are the fans that artists have developed and other intellectual property. The combined markets make up the entertainment engineering market. These intrinsic details enable market indicators
and portal value selections
⁷ to be developed.
The Web site, http://www.dogtagrecords.biz, is designed and hosted by www.web.com since October 2003. Web.com Inc. and National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ) stock market’s symbol WWWW has demonstrated reliability beyond many of the finest hosting providers in the market. Included at the bottom of the Web site is an effective online glossary. To articulate the effectiveness of the operating system used by Dog Tag Records can be done by stating one company—Microsoft Corporation. The search desktop tools are a great approach to locating critical company data. Information developed in 2003 can be found in 2006 by a few clicks of the keyboard and mouse.
Since 1991 David M. Nottingham has been studying the process of recording music. In 1995 David started studying business profiles (i.e., Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce). Through the years, David has developed ways to earn money on his investments including the involvement with the various projects.
This chapter is a principle asset to the book. It is important to analyze artistic property and/or intellectual property as a resource to build a compounding machine.⁸ The course of study also has lead to the development of this book. Consider this book as a management discussion
of intrinsic⁹ details. At present David has received a Professional Recording award from Japan and eleven plaques, certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) that account for over 26.5 million units sold. The recording engineering experience has enhanced the perspective of the following subject:
Artistic Property as Intellectual Property
Attracting critical-tenured talent further introduces marketing strategy and academic strategy (see http://www.dogtagrecords.biz/). Utilizing available resources within the context of the Recording Academy (NARAS) as a voting member produces an opportunity that is streamlining Dog Tag Records’ mission. However the experience introduces the opportunity for political involvement. These combined subjects also highlight the effectiveness of owning rights to sound recordings. The Library of Congress has stated that people who operate the equipment during a sound recording are considered part of the copyright holders. The delicate touch of a guitar string is one of the dynamics a recording engineer works to reproduce with microphones, equipments, and other human resources. The recording engineer also interacts with the producer and studio staff to design a work environment that articulates the difficulty in documenting strategic information that enables one to recall for future use. Clients such as Disney, Interscope, and Warner Brothers have utilized a studio’s ability to develop a clear vision of their objectives.
Dog Tag Records is working on a word-of-mouth approach to building its business. This small business is working on building a scoring stage and a way to analyze artist development. These future plans have been stepping-stones in the music business. Education is a critical element, and higher education provides the ultimate resource for furthering the layers of tangible assets. Music and the ability to reproduce sound have a unique connection.
A radio interview from Sacramento, California’s KWOD, (106.5 FM) sparked a clear mission.¹⁰ The mission is to bring back the magic that David Nottingham captured in Los Angeles, California, during the employment years of 1994-1998. David was a recipient of the 1998 Recording Award of Japan and the eleven multiplatinum and gold records. Although existing recording studios booked most of the sessions with a preestablished album history from artists, such as Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Quincy Jones, David believes that all artists have to begin development at a specific place in time. Additionally, this starting point also has a specific dollar amount. Wherever there is talent there should be an investor.
Magic or unique attribute
gained from prestardom recognition is the designed production technique of http://www.dogtagrecords.biz/. Then inevitably, success will seem overnight to the masses. Financial harmony is the unique relationship between music and money. Establishing and defining this artistic property relationship before production will enable major labels and other recording artists to maintain the magic of the record. Recording engineering, producing, writing, and composing are services that this book discusses.
The unique attribute of this book is the creation point of identifying methods that will track artist development aspects. How do we track these attributes? We can track them through case studies and introducing technology to the table. One introduction of technology is the RFID (radio-frequency identification).
■ Idea: RFID’s purpose is to create a computer identification number and track movement through the system.¹¹ Artist development has a system. Although at this point the information or literary work is not as coherent the process is at our fingertips.
As Dog Tag Records continues to define its operations within the music industry, our commitment is to always apply the formula form follows function.
The Art of Developing Fans for Life introduces concepts implementing the form follows function
theory. Management is a key subject, and communication portal is the lock.
The typical growth rate of developing fans¹² is vast, unpredictable, and demographically sparse. A nonspecific genre of music is ripe for strategic analysis and primed in determining market indicators. Structuring programs to enable a network mainstream and technically positioned to incorporate a new field—virtual mixing.¹³ This process is designed to continue create intellectual property¹⁴ as the asset of the band. Although one of the main companies that have been introduced to virtual mixing is restructuring, it is believed that the originators are still interested in the technology.
Collaboration agreements, artist development agreements, and marketing strategies commonly produce measurable results.
Key Investment Theory
The psychological aspects inside this literary work provide a strategic work environment to build on. Health is a major indicator of preparing for the future. A peer-to-peer analysis will further explain unique identifiers within the documentation processes developing an Engineering Entertainment Market (an EEM business cycle). The EEM business cycle is a compounding transaction. Have you ever heard of the term intrinsic value
? The monetary value mixes itself into reinvestment opportunities, therefore, making the overall investment a compounding transaction.
By developing intrinsic value,
a business or investor can earn 12-16 percent on their investments. Most banks only earn 3-4 percent on the balance of the account. So a market indicator would be that this xyz sound recording
has intrinsic value.
Taking this theory a step further can produce a theory that an aspect of a song could earn 12-16 percent on the investment if developed properly. How many investments are involved in a Grammy recording? The answer is many. How many sound recordings have intrinsic value
? The answer maybe in the reports found at the larger companies that trade on the stock market.
Investor Profiles and the Art of Developing Fans for Life
Identifying the amount to invest in an available fund systematically enable performance reviews of financial harmony. This is a new term and is a thought pattern. Also it identifies the profile of the investor. What investments are required to earn a platinum record certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)?
Ensuring the investment choices correspond to the upward communication . . .
¹⁵ and enhance market indicators. Strategic analysis interviews will identify key
portfolio market movement. The idea is to perform business activities at the speed of thought.¹⁶
When a sound recording is platinum status
(over one million units sold), are the investors prepared to account the sales? Moreover, are the musicians interested in moving to the next level? Are the music fans ready to buy the next sound recording? Is the band or artist ready to be in the public eye and exposed to media’s blogging? Is the product ready to be instilled into the world’s heart? Is the recording engineer set up, and is he notifying the artist to begin the performance? Is the producer at the recording consoled and interested in the performance? Is the whole world waiting for the release of the album? Where did the first investment take place?
Decision Making and Music-Performance Data
Developing intrinsic details¹⁷ and itineraries generate a knowledge base such as a supply and demand investment table. Assets, liabilities, and artistic property are the key components of a sound recording’s intrinsic details. Compounded interest rates (i.e., mortgages, loans, investments, etc.) and events theoretically bond artistic values. Music performance data is also discussed at the end
