    INTRODUCTION

    The idea of this enterprise is to show people the way of the true warrior.

    Man does not live by bead alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4

    This scripture is true in all that we do. Man also should not fight or do anything in the physical without feeding on and outfitting oneself with the power, grace, and authority that God has issued forth. Now, I understand that the lines of morality can very easily be obscured in the midst of anger, fear, and battle. It is my hope to prepare you for this eventual outcome.

    I also, would like to give you these helpful reading instructions. Read this book with your Bible beside you. When you come across a scripture verse that I haven’t written out for your convenience, look it up at that moment. Doing so will get you much more from this book.

    CHAPTER 1

    KNOWING THE ENEMY

    We battle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, rulers and evil forces in heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

    This is the true definition of the enemy in every situation, that being said it’s not that simple to our carnal minds. The word carnal is from the Greek, meaning fleshly. Every situation and choice is loaded with real and imagined consequences and rewards. Life is difficult and complicated.

    In this world ye shall have tribulation. John 16:33

    Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

    This is the way of the enemy. The Lord also warns us to be alert to the schemes our enemy sets among us. 2 Corinthians 2:11

    Some of these schemes are in the form of sickness, disease, addictions; even our upbringing and cultural responses can lead us into the enemy’s traps. Our true enemy is cunning beyond belief and he has us surrounded.

    These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

    The fact that God sent his son to have complete victory over the enemy gives us proper perspective; refer to the Gospels. Our true enemy is powerful beyond belief, but he is also routed. He is defeated and running into a box canyon. His end is written, signed, sealed, and delivered. The power of Satan reminds me of the Disney movie Aladdin, where Genie is explaining his power to Aladdin. Lightning flashes and he grows to the size of a 100-foot giant bulging with impossibly big muscles. Genie says with a great booming voice phenomenal cosmic powers and then his voice shrinks to less than normal itty bitty living space. We must remember that Satan and his Demons have immense power but like Genie it is contained inside the bottle of permission. God has given us Humans authority over Satan so he can be a lot less effective in his age long campaign to break us down and separate us from everything that is good, including God.

    Satan and his minions are spiritual beings but they are not omnipresent like God. Demons can only be in one place at a time, whether they can change locations quickly or instantly they still can only be in one place at a time. They are also Angels but because of their moral choice, they are referred to as fallen angels or Demons. There is a scripture that refers to the physical appearance of Demons, saying they can even appear as an Angel of light to deceive us. 2 Corinthians 11:14.

    Abraham entertained angels when he was camped outside of Sodom and three men approached him. He recognized them with his spiritual eyes, because although they looked like men he knew they were actually Angels. Genesis 18:1-33.

    I believe that though an Angel is spiritual, they can put on flesh and walk among us. This is true for Demons as well. From scripture and other eyewitnesses, Angels can allow themselves to be seen by humans as huge muscled men who are eight to ten feet tall. Elijah saw armies of Angels surrounding the Philistines with fiery chariots. 2 Kings 6:17

    If we focus on the strength and might of our foe we could, and should be filled with fear. We must not focus on our foe but Gods word when he tells us to keep our eyes on the goal. Paul tells us that like a runner in a race we must train hard, play by the rules, and keep our eye on the goal if we wish to win the prize and not be disqualified.1 Corinthians 9:24-27

    I remind you again, our opponent has already been beaten and we live in that victory, it only appears as though we fight in a battle that the outcome is unsure. The Scripture tells us;

    2 Corinthians 4:3-4 – But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4. In whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

    The Scripture also tells us:

    If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him. James 1:5

    Matthew 7:7,8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Luke 11:9,10

    This is why the saying, it is the Lords battle is absolutely true. He is our fortress, our strength, and our shield. Jeremiah 6:19 - With God before us who can be against us; Romans 8:31.

    CHAPTER 2

    KNOWING YOURSELF

    In his book The Art of War, Sun Tzu states the good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then wait for an opportunity to defeat the enemy. To secure our selves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. This is of course by a mistake on the enemy’s part. Thus the good fighter is able to secure himself against defeat. This is done by concealing the disposition of his troops, covering up his tracks, and taking unremitting precautions but cannot make certain of defeating the enemy. Hence the saying; One may know how to conquer without being able to do it.

    Security against defeat implies defensive tactics, ability to defeat the enemy means taking the offensive. He then states "he who is skilled in attack flashes forth from the topmost heights of heaven. We can take much from this and apply it to our spiritual battles. Defence is an action.

    For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also; James 2:26

    This tells us that we need to do good deeds. Many people take this to the extreme the other way and frown on works. This sermon is a favorite among preachers and it’s something we need to hear as most of us think we can work our way into heaven.

    Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me; John 14:6

    As this scripture states;
