Blessings from God - Deborah Lynne

    Dedication

I dedicate this book to all you who are reading it. May it enrich your life as you get deeper into His Word. God promises blessings to each and everyone of His children. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ as your Savior, then this book is for you. If not, these promises still can be yours. Reach out to God and ask Him to put His Son, Jesus, in your heart.

    Scripture

2Peter 1:4 - And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

    Introduction

Throughout His Word God makes promises to His children.

Who are His children? We are...you and me, we who have accepted Jesus, the one and only Son of God, as our Savior. God loves us and has given us so much. The great thing is, He wants to give us more, but we aren’t open to receiving all of His blessings and promises.

He also gave a promise to those who never accepted Jesus as their Savior. That promise is eternal hell, eternal damnation. That is a promise from God He will keep for all who don’t choose Jesus as their Savior; the only promise for non-believers. They have until their last breath to change their decision and believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior...but why wait? Why take the chance of running out of time, out of breath? Then you’re too late, and you receive the one and only promise to non-believers. John 3:18 - There is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him. But anyone who does not believe in Him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.

None of us know when that last breath will be taken. Besides, if you don’t wait to choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can live here, now, on earth in God’s abundance through His promises and blessings. But to live in that abundance, you, a believer in Him, must be open to them.

Why aren’t some children of God open to His promises, His blessings, His gifts that He wants to give us?

Some believe they don’t deserve the blessings, and more than likely they are right. The truth is none of us deserve the goodness and blessings of God. But just as God gave us His Son to save us, He wants to give us His blessings and promises in abundance. Only we have to believe that He wants to bless us and reward us for being one of His children...and we have to accept His promises, expect them, and walk in them. That promise, like all the other blessings God wants to give us, is found in His Word - Hebrews 11:6 - And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.

He tells us in His Word through our faith in believing Him—that He exists, and that when we sincerely seek after Him (reading His Word, letting it fill our hearts and minds to overflow), He rewards us. But as Scripture also says, we have to do our part.

The same is true for all the blessings and promises of God, with the exception of one...the gift of salvation. To receive the gift, the blessing of salvation, we need only to believe Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, died for our sins and suffered the punishment for them, and then God raised Him to life - defeating Satan once and for all times. And when we believe, we confess our sins and ask Jesus into her hearts accepting Him as our savior — Then we are saved!! Hallelujah!!

For His promises throughout the Word, you have to do a little more to receive them. You need to know what they are (read the Word, study it), and know what your part is to receiving them. The rest of this book is filled with Scriptures, ones God has pointed out to me that I believe holds a promise and/or blessing from God. After I list each, I will say in as few words as possible what I believe is the promise He wants to give us and what we have to do to receive it...our part.

For the record, I am writing this because God laid it on my heart to share this with you, His many promises and blessings He wants to give you.

And know that there are so many more. Pastor Jonathan Stockstill mentioned the other day that there are over 5400 promises from God in His Word. Rick Warren said in one of his books I read, there are over 7000. I don’t know how many promises from God are in the Word, but I do know there are plenty. I also know I will only be covering a few...the ones God quickened my heart to share with you, promises we all can use in our life in and on earth in the present day to receive our blessings.

May God bless you in abundance!!

Exodus 20:12 - Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

    ––––––––

This is the first promise from God in His Word...a promise you can live a long full life in the place God is giving you.

I know I was taught this at an early age and truly believed the Word even back then. You can ask any of my family members and they can tell you I believe I’ll be living a long and fruitful life. Your part is to honor your father and mother. What is honor? I believe it is respect. Show your parents respect. Some may not deserve it, but God tells us to honor our parents. So by obeying God’s Word, we are to honor them anyway.

Honor your parents, and trust God to keep His Word.

Sometimes when trying to honor our mom and dad—even when our heart is set on it—we fail. Why? Because we are still flesh and blood. Good news. Because of the blood of Jesus covering us, washing us clean, God does not see our sin. We are as white as snow to Him. So when you sin by dishonoring your mom or dad with a bad thought, or talking back, or in any way dishonor your parent or parents, be quick to confess, so your sin stays under the blood. Remember, I’m not saying you’ll lose your salvation when you sin, because you won’t. But I am saying you won’t receive this blessing of long life if you keep dishonoring your parents.

Love them. Honor them. Treat them as you’d like to be treated. Receive your blessing. Live a long life.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 - "If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above
