    Foreword

I am delighted to write this introduction for my friend and sister in Christ, Katheann M. Ifill-Woodroffe.

All things have a starting point. It started with God’s Holy Word, for by His Word creation of all things began. Living Daily by His Word gives the reader insights to dealing with many everyday issues. Each day, we rise with feelings, thoughts, plans, and hope. Now more than ever, we seem to be facing a world that is rapidly changing before our eyes. So many of the values that we were taught have fallen by the wayside. We struggle to make sense of all the senseless things that are going on around us.

This book seeks to address many of the issues that we are facing today. The messages in this book will manifest within your spirit to activate your heart and soul and bring light to your life. We all need a reason to think as our purpose is discovered. Living Daily by His Word is a book you can read and find the scriptures that would address whatever area of your life is affected at that time. It is my pray that as you read the insights shared by Katheann and the verses of scripture, your inner spirit will be filled with hope, comfort, and renewal of life.

    A Caring God

Sometimes it’s hard for us to believe that God cares. As we go through our various trials and troubles, we wonder if God cares. Sometimes as we listen to the stories of friends and loved ones, we wonder, Does God care? The death of a loved one touches us deeply and makes us wonder if God cares. The condition of the world right now makes us wonder if God cares.

It is so easy to place the blame somewhere else and believe that we have no part in the things that go on in our lives and around us. We could like to attribute the world’s present conditions to some higher being but don’t think that our actions and that of our ancestors have contributed to the problems of today’s world. God, as He created us, had a different existence planned for us, but because of disobedience, we now have a world in turmoil. Sin entered the world, and with that came all the negatives that impact us today.

Sickness brings on death. Choices made without understanding or seeking God’s guidance put us into so much difficulty. Greed and the wants of riches and material possessions have the world in turmoil. Some live lavishly and wealthy, while others scratch out a meager existence for themselves and their families. Some have the best that money can buy, while others go without or wear hand-me-downs. Some eat at the finest restaurants, while others beg for food.

Our lack of compassion, our unwillingness to work together for the betterment of all is what has the world in the condition it is in right now. We have chosen to look the other way as all around us we see the injustice but think it best to just care about self. We excuse the lawlessness and violence against those of other races and religion as we chose not to see them as our brothers and sisters. How do we know if God cares as we see and experience these things? God, in his infinite wisdom, gave us free choice. We have the ability within us to change our world. He has made us wonderful promises if we could only trust and believe in Him, letting His Word be our guide to a better way of life. As we experience our various trials, and we try to make sense of all the insanity that has taken over our world, stay focus on Him, trust Him, and lean not unto our own understanding but in all our ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct our path (Proverbs 3:5–6).

(Most scriptures are taken from KJV.)

    A Christian Life

How does one live a Christian life? Let’s take a look at Titus 3:1–8. Here we see Paul giving Titus instructions to be passed on to brethren. What he had to say back then is still relevant today. As a Christian and one who is trying to lead a Christ-centered life, we should have a spirit of peace, gentleness, and humility. Sometimes as we have accepted Christ and believe that we are living a righteous life, we have a tendency to look down on others whom we believe are not on the same level as us. We forget that before we were saved, we were just like them. Like Paul says in verse 3, for we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. Even if we try to follow every doctrine and live what we believe is a righteous life, the apostle Paul tells us in Romans 3:10, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. If back then people lived a righteous live, there would have been no need for sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin. God knew that the blood of animals could not atone for man’s sin. That is why Jesus came. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we should be a support for one another; no one is perfect or sinless. We are human, and even with the best of intentions, we make mistakes. I have heard it said that once you are saved, you are no longer a sinner. First John 1:8 tells us if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Christ’s death on the cross has atoned for our sins as there was or is nothing that we can do to save ourselves. Undoubtedly, as we continue our Christian walk, we should strive to live by the commandment that Jesus left us in John 13:34: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (NIV). This simple commandment would solve a lot of the problems we see that are still rampant in the churches today among the brethren. The Christian life is one of service and humility and an unshakable faith in our belief of God’s salvation, grace, and mercy.

    A Lifetime Commitment to God

Jesus says in Revelation 3:20, Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. We have heard the knock, we have opened the door, and we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior. How begins our life as a believer. When you first turn your life over, your joy is exceeded only by your zealousness to do the right thing. A burden has been lifted, and you believe yourself saved. One thing you will come to realize is that living a Christlike life is not the easiest thing. It seems that trouble abound from every angle. Your friends don’t think you’re cool anymore because you no longer do the things you used to do. Sometimes your loved ones have a problem with you because you can no longer condone the things they may do. Then you may encounter problems with your church family, and you begin to wonder if you make the right decision. You may even conclude that you had a better life before you were saved.

These are the obstacles that we as believers must overcome if we are to stay committed to God. Our eyes must stay focus on the prize, which is everlasting life. Unlike an earthly relationship, we don’t have to wonder whether God loves us. We don’t have to worry that yesterday, a few months ago, or two years ago, we were in love and hot for each other, but today it’s over. God doesn’t fall out of love with us, and we need to love Him the same way. Unlike an earthly relationship, where when we mess up, there is no forgiveness, God is willing to forgive us our fleshly failing and love us unconditionally. His commitment to us should inspire us to be just as committed to him. We should be as this songwriter Cesar Malan puts it: "Take my will and make it thine it shall no longer be mine. (We should want to do the will of God.) Take my heart it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne. (Our heart should belong
