About this ebook

Proverbs II is a collection of poems and writings that will reinforce your faith in God. Thirty-one chapters on various themes can be read in any order.

Numerous writers team up to share insights on the Bible and how to defeat Satan. In “Sermon about Love,” author Kevin L. Pollock writes, “If we know God, we should know love. We express to others what love is because of experiences that have felt so good in our lives. But is that love? Only a single grain of sand among all the sand on the bottom of the oceans of the world symbolizes what our love is in comparison to the love that God is and has for us.”

In “Sermon about My Feet,” he writes, “Truth and right decisions coincide with one another, which leads us to one of the hottest topics there is today: anything concerning the truth. Everyone wants to know the truth, but no one wants to be truthful. The Bible tells us that the truth will set us free. Be true to yourself; more importantly, be true to God because He knows everything anyway.”

After buying this book, you’ll also be eligible to download eleven original songs and poems by WHOOPE Entertainment of the Arts & Krossing Over.

Now WHOOPE Entertainment of the Arts & Krossing Over is a company with a big heart for everyone we reach through the Bible and the history of our own writing. The Bible is true! We’ve performed musicals before live audiences, and we’ve written songs and plays. Now we can add this book to our repertoire. We pray this book will be a blessing to all who read it.

This book, Proverbs II, is a collection of poems and music from writers who have given us at WHOOPE Entertainment of the Arts & Krossing Over permission and approval to publish their work. LOVE

    TITLE 1

    HE IS LOVE

    Written by Kevin L. Pollock

    Inspired by the Lord

    Date: April 1, 2020

God is love (1 John 4:8 NIV) and Love is He.

So what is all that other stuff people are talking?

Talking about love is blind and love is a feeling.

I think you better keep on walking—

Walking down the avenue of greatness,

    For that’s where He is.

I can guarantee that, when you find Him,

You’ll find Love right in His midst.

    True Love is He.

So wonderful, so true, so endearing,

So kind, and also corrects me when I’m wrong,

    Casting out all fear.

If this is the Love I should be looking for,

Then tell me, where should I start to find it?

One of the most popular books in our living rooms,

Probably covered with dust, is called The Holy Bible.

If you let Him in, this Love holds on and will never let go.

It will guide you and lead you as your destiny unfolds.

Your purpose will come forth, not to boast nor to brag,

But to be there for people more.

Love will be your friend when it seems you’re friendless.

It’ll be your comfort when you feel comfortless.

Love will enable you to be free while others are bound.

It’ll give you peace, never lost always found.

Love will walk with you and talk to you.

Love will remind you that Love is He.

    TITLE 2

THE LOVE I HAVE FOR YOU, LORD

    Written by Kevin L. Pollock

    Inspired by the Lord

    Date: January 7, 1997

I want Your love to be so deep inside of me

That the world would know, and that they can see

What You are doing in my life and how it feels so right.

It comes from loving You, Lord, the way that I do,

The way You prepare me when I’m in Your presence,

Molding and shaping me to be someone better,

Trusting and believing, surrendering all to You,

Obeying Your commandments in all that I do,

    Humbling myself, respecting Your Grace,

Completely depending on You, Lord, to win this race

Because I am blinded in the Love that You gave,

All have I sacrificed just to see Your face

This is the Love I have for You!

I want You, God, to be forever inside of me

So that the world will know and that all could see

How the Word has changed my life, since I’ve accepted the Lord Jesus Christ!

It comes from the love You have placed in my heart,

The way You remind me of Your holy scriptures,

Releasing me from the enemy who continues to paint pretty pictures.

For only by Your Grace have I been saved.

Thanking you, praising and worshipping You, will I all of my days,

Humbling my stature, respecting, Lord, Your grace,

Completely depending on You to win this race

Because, Lord, I’m blinded in the love that You gave,

All have I sacrificed, just to see Your face.

This is the love I have for You, Lord!

    TITLE 3

    SERMON ABOUT LOVE

Subject: What is Love and How Do You Show It?

    Written by Kevin L. Pollock

    Date: May 1, 2009

What is love? Is it my mother or father getting me everything I need or want? Is it being accepted in that special group, organization, or community? Is it my sister or my brother teaching me slick ways of doing things without getting caught? Or is it that tingling feeling whenever I see or smell the fragrance of that special someone?

It is far deeper than any one of us could imagine! First of all, when I say this, I mean it’s far deeper than one simple fact alone. God is Love! Who can understand God? God can do what He wishes to do, when He wants to do it, where it is to be done, and how! Now, if love travels that deep, really, who can catch up to the meaning of what love is until they know God? If we know God, we should know love. We express to others what love is because of experiences that have felt so good in our lives. But is that love? Only a single grain of sand among all the sand on the bottom of the oceans of the world symbolizes what our love is in comparison to the love that God is and has for us. When we run as fast as we can, jump as high, and stretch as far and wide, will we complete the pass for what love is?

The Bible tells us, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NIV). Just imagine God having to witness this scene: God had His son sacrificed for us. Jesus was forced to wear a crown of thorns, his sides were pierced, and he was whipped and beaten. God thought about us even when Jesus asked Him, Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me (Luke 22:42 NIV). This was a son asking his dad to take the pain away from him if it was in any way possible. What was this? Not only did God show His love toward us by sacrificing His son, but Jesus the Son also showed his love back to God even though he wished God had other choices. This was a heavy chore to bear, instructed by our Dad (God). There were no other choices! Jesus complemented the statement by saying, Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:42 KJV). In so many words, regardless of how much it hurts, how hot it is, what people are going to say about me, I will pursue the mission that’s set before me! That’s my love to you, oh God! Jesus suited up in his armor in prayer to our Dad (God) and asked certain close disciples to stay awake with him during this time. Even they, the close ones, the chosen ones, fell asleep. Jesus’s greatest challenge was before him at that moment, and his friends treated his words as mere words, as if words are not powerful. After seeing the entire crucifixion, the ones who hadn’t been able to stay awake had a new understanding of Jesus’s love for God, and God being Love.

Jesus’s words were true. His love for God was so strong, He was willing to lay down His own life for us. The chosen disciples could not even stay awake as Jesus battled in prayer with this situation. The love God showed to us and the love Jesus gave back to our Dad is the love that causes us to give our lives away to our Dad as well. We are to skillfully position the issues of life to pursue the mission that God has for us. All of our missions for God are different, but life carries challenges. The ingredients we need to bake a cake are not all sweet; some are salty and others are bland. Mixing them in the correct proportions, using the right utensils, stirring them correctly, and baking them for the appropriate length of time and at the proper temperature brings about a beautiful sweet aroma and flavor. Pain, struggles, hurt, embarrassment, and addictions seem to find their way into our lives in a variety of circumstances and situations just because we admit that we love God (our Dad). A replay of what happened with Jesus during the crucifixion is happening in us when our love reaches that point when we say, Not my will, but yours be done (Luke 22:42 NIV). Because of love.

    TITLE 4

MY LOVE LETTER TO ANGER (THIRTY-FIFTH POEM)

Written by Elbert L. Turner III

    Inspired by the Lord

    Date: June 14, 2006

    Chorus

    I got love over anger.

    Message

We live in a very cynical world.

What have I done to dictate this reaction, besides be born?

Why take out your frustration on me and blame me for your heart being torn?

Living a life of separation causes an emotional uproar of scorn,

With agony, defeat, a feeling of ignorance, an intellectual blockage of an ability to retain knowledge.

You disguise it with anger, not letting anyone into your world, afraid the truth about your disability would be found.

This cage that holds you captive, you know a mind that is filled with self-awareness can keep you bound.

Don’t frown. You see, that is why you are where you’re at, a state of lack.

Yeah, now I see and understand why you feel the way you do.

You sit at home in quiet places and boo-hoo,

Lonely, seeking attention, a love as a child you are unfamiliar of.

Why is your life an example of, disassociation of love,

    Tainted mind?

    You are out of line.

    Get back in, sin,

    Love is my care.

    With you I will share.

    Anger prepared, it can’t compare.

It’s not fair. It’s not fair.

Now love is the armor that you wear

Because love covers a multitude of sin.

    Against it—sin—you can’t win.

    Chorus

    I got love over anger.

    Message

Self will let you down. You have not enough strength to pretend anymore.

    Your life is growing short,

    Your life is crashing—abort! Abort!

Now you stand before the Righteous One in court,

Crying, I did not know! I did not know!

Looking at your life on a screen, reminiscing about a movie at the show.

Wake up! Wake up to a screaming voice shouting, No more! No more!

Eyes open and before you stand before the judge,

Trying your best to shake this reality, but it was your choice not to budge,

And heed the command of the Most High.

    Put aside
