FORWARD
This book is inspired by the life of an unsung hero, my mother, Prenzina Holloway. It is not intended to be a biography. Nor does it pretend the interactions are exactly as they may have occurred.
However, as you flip through the pages and read the words put to print, I think you will find the essence of her selfless character and commitment to others crystal clear.
She, and others like her, are the catalyst of many successful political men and women. It is people like her who are the backbone of many professionals who share the limelight. She is an example of a strong Black woman who is satisfied with herself and only wants the best for others.
Hopefully, her story will emphasize what you already know: No one gets anywhere without people who love and support them in their dreams and endeavors. Nor are there any successes without obstacles and roadblocks; many of which are caused by people you know and thought you could trust.
DEDICATION
Mom this book is dedicated to you for being who you are and for teaching me that the greatest gift is the one I am able to give to others. Thank you for instilling in me everything you could to help me become who I am.
It is also dedicated to the many lives that have been touched by her. Thank you for allowing her to do what she likes to do best..…to help others.
Thanks to my brothers and sisters who have taught me that there is no greater love, than unconditional family love.
To my children, thank you for your love and patience as we travel through this life of adventures. I love you.
MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR
As we travel through life, it is imperative that we take care of those who take care of us even when we know we may never be in the LimeLight.
CHAPTER
1
The lights are bright, the people are many, the laughter is loud, and the night is young. As she entered the place, she could see a rainbow of people. It was seeing the multitude of them that convinced her, this was one of her dreams that had unmistakably came true.
However, she still thought, "I must be dreaming. "Somebody pinch me, but don’t dare wake me up," she laughed out loud being pleased with her visualization of the crowd.
At last, she thought, The time had finally come when the fruits of my labor had come to bare. This climatic moment in time will never to be forgotten. Dave and Annie would not believe how far their baby girl has come. Nothing I could ever do in my life will ever come close to what I am feeling right now. I will remember this moment for the rest of my life.
She could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel consisting of six months of intense labor. The long hard road to the end of the tunnel was more like it. She pushed herself to work from sunup to sundown. She was determined not to leave a door un-knocked. She had gotten herself so sick she thought that this might be her last time working in the communities. She attended every campaign committee meeting she was scheduled to
