    CHAPTER 1

    It started as a social experiment during her senior year in college. Not long after graduation it had grown legs until it became a runaway train making stops around the world. Her roommate at the time got into it with Catholic charities she then had fully investigated.

    A bunch of ill-mannered perverts, Jasmine had called them, and suggested Felicitee be the face of their little experiment. It was true a few bad eggs always rise to the top of any group that otherwise does good deeds for its community. When other well-known organizations got involved, there was no end to the controversy being played out on social media and in the news. Closing her refrigerator door, she snatched her phone off the island counter.

    Okay, Google. Define 'speed dating event,' Felicitee queried. 'Men and women are rotated to meet each other over a series of short dates lasting from three to eight minutes depending on the event hosts.'

    She couldn’t believe Ronan wanted them to meet for the first time at an event like this. They had been talking on the phone for months now after being matched through an exclusive dating service that cost a small fortune but eliminated the riffraff. This service zeroed in on business professionals seriously looking for a soul-mate, a long-term relationship resulting in marriage. She now felt closer to him than anyone else she knew. Just then Daughty's song, Start of Something Good, filled her open floor plan condo, the ring-tone she'd assigned to him.
