About this ebook

“Treasure Hunt” is a life-time inspirational call for believers to give their all to hunt the eternal TREASURE. It is this hunt that promises in return, a hundred-fold blessing in this life and guarantees eternal life.
Since creation, responses to God’s love have sent men and women on diverse escapades. A clear demonstration of their love for Jesus Christ has compelled some of them on journeys marked by untold hardships and persecution until their death. Many of these heroes are unsung and their names may not appear anywhere.
“Treasure Hunt” is therefore a collection of life stories in brief of randomly selected ancient and modern Treasure Hunters who defied all odds to demonstrate their love for Jesus Christ in largely uncharted territories. Some were martyred while others abandoned their families for years on end and sometimes lost their lives in the process.
In like manner, Jesus Christ left His residence in heaven to come down in order to reconcile the world back to God. That is the price He paid in order to secure salvation for all mankind who choose to believe in Him. He is the Treasure believers seek against all odds for He promises to reward labors of love.
These Treasure hunters demonstrate that indeed the Kingdom of God is like a precious treasure hidden in a field. When a man finds it, he hides it and then in his joy goes and sells all he has and buys that field. Many are selling material possessions as their opportunity cost in buying the Treasure in order to also win the prize.
What are you forgoing in order to find this Treasure and make it accessible to others. Choose to be a Treasure-Hunter for your labor of love will be rewarded by Jesus Christ.

    Dedication

    TO

    BISHOP DENNIS AGYEI-GYAN AND FAMILY

    MISSIONARIES OF LIGHT HOUSE CHAPEL

    INTERNATIONAL TO BOTSWANA

    2005-2012

Your genuine love for Jesus Christ was evident but like many such missionaries, your contribution may escape the headlines, the books and other literary documents. This dedication is an intentional recognition of genuine love of the many in this category for Jesus Christ.

The Opare-Kumi family in Botswana had the privilege to host Pastor Agyei-Gyan (Now Bishop) and family when they were assigned to the country as missionaries to establish the Lighthouse chapel International (LCI). We literary saw and felt their genuine faith and willingness to count all as loss for the sake of the Cross of Christ.

Indeed many are called but few choose to answer the call the way they did it. They sold their all to purchase the land that hid the Treasure for the benefit of others. The story of Light House Chapel International in Botswana therefore cannot be written without due mention of this dedicated and selfless pioneering work. God bless you.

Paul captures the very essence of missionary work in these words: -

But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ

    Philippians 3:7-8

May these examples inspire and encourage believers to hunt with their all for the Treasure as never before.

    Prologue

Jesus Christ likened the Kingdom of God to a Treasure that is hidden in a field. The one who found it went and sold all he had to enable him buy the field that contained the Treasure. The essence of this parable continues to inspire God’s people to pursue the Kingdom in ways that give cause for marvel at times. Especially where such courses are against all odds and precarious.

Since creation, God’s people have dared to put their heads on the block as it were to prove His existence and presence in the affairs of men. God’s plan of salvation through Jesus Christ continues to motivate His people to undertake escapades to ensure that as many as would believe can be saved. The pursuit of such escapades come in diverse and various forms. For some, their responses have taken them to unknown and uncharted paths and terrains.

This book retells their stories briefly and leave readers to reflect and ponder their choices in light of these escapades. The question is: are we on such pursuits such that the salvation plan will get accomplished?

It is always me first and then you out there. And so here it is. May we continue Treasure-hunting until He returns for His reward is with Him.
