    INVENTORS

    (VETERAN, NEW AND PROSPECTIVE)

Created to Invent: A Foretaste of Paradise.

    PROLOGUE

During a period of intense contemplation, the Author was confronted with questions about creation and its relationship to invention; why inventions have been progressively dynamic since creation; who are these Inventors? Are they super human? What motivates them? Do Inventors recognize the likely source of their motivations to invent? In search for answers, she made the following observations based on her Christian orientation/conviction:-

45268.png If Inventors are human…created…and did not fall from the skies…then the one who made them must be greater than themselves …God? the creator of man who also made the heavens and the earth and created man as believed by some

45268.png If man was created in the image of this God the Creator, then all have God-given abilities to be inventors because each creation must have creativity gene ...pure logic

45268.png The only thing that separates inventors from non-inventors therefore is likely to be the lack of knowledge that they too are Inventors

45268.png Non-inventors are therefore likely to be ignorant …they need someone to motivate/educate/inspire them

45268.png New and prospective Inventors can learn from veteran Inventors; what it is that sets them apart? What is their success story?

45268.png The variety and diversity of inventions imply that men and women are endowed differently with different dreams and visions

45268.png Failure to fulfill individual dreams will create vacuums in inventions that no one can fill

45268.png Massive response to the invention call will make the world like heaven – A world like heaven

The TIME Invention Poll was conducted in 2013 in cooperation with Qualcomm. The survey of 10,197 people in seven mature markets (South Korea, the U.S., Germany, Sweden, Australia, the U.K. and Singapore) and 10 emerging markets (South Africa, Kenya, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, China, Brazil, Turkey, India, Mexico and Indonesia), provided views and perceptions about innovation and Inventors.

Disparities in perspectives around the world demonstrated the diverse perspectives about the subject and the need for research to shed further light and possibly reach a consensus or concrete guidance for such studies and interests in the subject of invention. National disparities in opinions were observed but on average, 65% of respondents of the poll believed that Inventors were special people while 35 % thought anyone could possibly be an Inventor. The variables underlying the differences in perception included culture, economics and system of education.

    PURPOSE OF BOOK

It is in this volatile environment for a search for answers that the Author submits additional persuasive insight on Created in God’s Image to Invent. She presents life stories of randomly selected Inventors and analyzes qualities that are common among them. From her search, it became apparent that spirituality was not a recognizable trait of the Inventors. She found paramount qualities such as motivation, passion, resilience, persistence, focus and commitment of Inventors. She concludes therefore that the predictable premise and common ground for understanding the subject of invention and Inventors is the recognition of the inherent creative instincts in man and the awareness and will of man to respond. …For if all are created by God in His image then all without exception, have the capability to invent.

All inventors are human and created in the image of God

Inventors have indeed turned and continue to turn creation into bliss on earth and deserve lasting mention and celebration! Each time I have had to reflect on the creation story, the more I become convinced that the spoken word from God is the source of all inventions. I find these inventions amazing; the talent, creativity of men and women centuries past. One cannot imagine how the world would have been without these inventions.

Being a Christian, I have tended to use that perspective in appreciating what goes on around the world and to suggest that inventions are a direct consequence of God’s creation and His instruction to man to be fruitful and multiply as clearly laid out in the Bible thus…

Then God said, Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them, saying… Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. And God said, See I have given you every herb, that yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life. I have given every green herb for food…(Genesis 1:26-28).

While we celebrate inventors, it is equally important to reflect on the extent to which we may capitalize our invention opportunities. The premise being that, we were all created by God in His image and given open instructions to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth and have dominion. The likelihood therefore is that He created all of us inventors to replicate Himself.

It appears after creation, God entrusted the earth into the hands of man to use all of earth’s resources to make a living. The spoken instruction from God since creation has propelled man to invent and as it were, subdue the earth and have dominion. There is therefore cause to celebrate men and women who have obeyed this instruction or taken it in their stride and utilized creation, subdued the earth and gained dominion over it through various ground-breaking inventions to make life better.

Significant chronological differences in inventions in terms of numbers and their sophistication can be observed from pre-historic, Ancient Times, Middle Ages, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. It appears, the needs of a particular century dictate the sophistication of inventions. Inventions don’t happen by accident or in a random order but each new discovery seems to emerge from the last. Significant improvements in the quality of life in terms of technological advancements therefore attest to the impact of inventions.

    In this regard, Inventors seem
